The Rigel system is an inhabited planetary system in the Alpha Quadrant.
This system consists of the star Rigel, at least twelve planets, and an asteroid belt, and was home to the Rigel, or Rigellian, colonies.
Planets
- Rigel I: Airless, extremely hot, possessing a nearly molten crust which frequently erupts with magma
- Rigel II: Famed for its resorts, casinos and cabarets
- Rigel III: Class M world, with a warm climate and small oceans
- Rigel IV: Has an 1125-year-long year and 280-year-long seasons
- Rigel V: Standard atmosphere, warm climate, with a year that lasts 2.47 Earth years
- Rigel VI: Significant trading center between the Rigel system and the other worlds of the Federation
- Rigel VII: Homeworld to the Rigellians; has a 27-hour day and one year equals 24.41 Earth years
- Rigel VIII: Class M planet with two moons
- Rigel IX: Has a gravity of 2.2 g and a 12-hour day
- Rigel X: Also known as The Rigel Colony, home to a species of large flying insects
- Rigel XI: Has many moons, maybe of which are home to automated mining facilities
- Rigel XII: The Rigel mining planet, conditions are harsh, with habitation only possible in sealed pressure domes
The asteroid belt, located near Rigel XII, had a "Shiller rating" of three-five.

- Was the first star system visited by Enterprise, NX-01
- Rigellians participated in talks regarding the Coalition of Planets
- By the 2360s, Starfleet cadets could participate in a pilot competition to win the "Rigel Cup."
