Personal History
He was born in a small town called Almonte in New Canada Ontario and grew up there until he was about 16. Then he attended high school at Zefran Cochran High.
When he turned 17, he got a shuttle for his birthday and had many adventures with it. He even upgraded the shuttle himself thus realized that he was a gifted Engineer.
When he was 18, he attended high school on his father's ship called the U.S.S. Zephyr. At age 19, he saw the death of his father at the hands of Romulans. His dad was showing Scotty a tour of the engineering section when the red alert klaxons went off. Ried's father told him to run and the last thing Scotty saw was his father getting disintegrated by Romulans. Scotty was saved by a Federation rescue team and lived in grief for a year.
Then Scotty lived on his mother's ship the Zephyr-B. Which was also boarded by Romulans but both he and his mother made it out safely. But he saw the reports stating that the CEO of that ship was killed as well.
Scotty Ried lived the next year believing that what ever ship he was on was doomed to be boarded by Romulans and the CEO weren't safe.
When he was 24, he entered the Academy in hopes that someday he would stop the curse. He now knows that the curse was a foolish idea and hopes to be a great engineer like his role models.
When Ried was 26 he graduated from Star Fleet academy where he was assigned to the U.S.S Dauntless, under LCdr Kathy Dega. During his first mission Ried’s consciousness, as was the rest of the away team’s, was implanted into an Alien. Ried’s was implanted into an Alien by the name of Naava Reece. During his time as Naava he gained control of the body and nearly killed his First Officer and Chief Medical officer (not knowing it was them) until the rest of the crew managed to gain control of their body’s and Ried realized just who they were and together they escaped the sinking ship. Back on the surface they were returned to their own body’s where they met what could have been called the spirits of the aliens where they were treated to a ceremony and were told that they were believed to be the god’s of their species. After the ceremony the species and their cities started to disappear and Ried with the rest of the away team was transported back to the Dauntless where they headed to starbase Alpha where they went on shore leave.
During shore leave a ceremony was held for the entire Star Fleet to honor the promotions and where it was announced that the Dauntless was being replaced by the new U.S.S. Enterprise. After the ceremony Ried headed to the Enterprise to set up his new quarters where he found transfer orders to become the Chief Engineer of the U.S.S. Drake. Ried’s first mission as a Chief Engineer was a basic mission, the Drake was ordered to check up on a starbase in the middle of no where that wasn’t responding. The base turned out to be under control from a parasitic being that had burrowed itself into the crew of the base under the control of the queen which had taken control of the commodore in command of the base. The base had been re-captured but it came at a great cost. Captain Meor had been attacked by one of the parasites and his Trill symbiot did not react well, so to speak, and nearly caused the death of the Captain. Unable to save the Captain’s life he was put in stasis on star base alpha where they hoped that someday they would be able to cure the Captain.
Captain Treborn former First Officer of the Dauntless and the Drake when it was under the command of Captain Jal. The former Chief of Security Lieutenant Commander Pheonix was promoted to First Officer. The crew set out on a new mission with the new CO/FO duo, but Scotty moved to the new challenge of Chief Engineer on the USS Copernicus

Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: The most painful experience would be the death of Scotty's father. He was tragically killed by Romulans. It is never to witness the death of a loved one and this death was especially traumatic. The death of Scotty's fathers has helped to create a long standing hatred towards Romulans. Plus when he lost his father, he lost his home aboard the Zephyr even though it was still intact after the encounter with the Romulans, and started to live with his mother. But what he thinks about most when it comes to the death of his father is the loss of a role model and parent
Best Time: The best time in Scotty's life is the birthday gift of a shuttle. Scotty rode in the shuttle constantly after he fixed it up it. The shuttle became a sort of Scotty's best friend since he didn't meet many people. He enjoyed the freedom he experienced when he was in the shuttle and working with his hands to fix it up. It was the first time he did any sort of engineering work on his own
Most Crucial Experience: The most crucial experience would be seeing his father killed. This is the most crucial moment in Scotty Ried's life in so many ways. It was one of the most painful experiences in his life but it also triggered the idea to become an engineer. This happened because Scotty's dad was an engineer and he wanted to pick up were his father left off
Role Model: Ried's role models are Tripp of the first Enterprise, Montgomery Scott of the original Enterprise, Geordi LaForge of the Enterprise-D, and his father. He admires these engineers since they are important figures in engineering. But out of all of the engineers, he admires the work of Trip the most because he had a strong sense of justice and was an excellent engineer
