R’ek (Kryn’tor) is a star that hosts a planetary system.

(You might be looking for Kryn’tor; that is, Kryn’tor, the planet.)

Star

R’ek is a single star within the Joran Sector, and within the Milky Way’s Beta Quadrant.

The star is approximately 100.1 light years from Sol (Earth). Its average apparent magnitude, as viewed from Earth, is 2.8, and its absolute visual magnitude is 0.4, making it about 61 times brighter than Sol. It is a blue main sequence “dwarf” with a stellar classification of B3 and an average temperature of about 17,000 degrees Kelvin. (See also the Astronomical Terms Database.)

Planetary System

The R’ek star hosts an inhabited planetary system with no less than one planet. Kryn’tor, a planet within the planetary system, is the Joran and Nakai homeworld.

Stardate 20811.14, Acting Commanding Officer Gloria Dys, of the U.S.S. Copernicus, GEC-9035, conducted a follow-up survey of Kryn’tor. Interestingly, her survey discovered the advanced Joran civilization, which had developed the technological means to protect the inhabitants of Kryn’tor from the otherwise harmful stellar radiation of its host star, R’ek.
