Personal History

Born and raised on a small farm in Iuruth on ch'Rihan, Havraha is the second son of three children, though only two survived. The part of Iuruth that the R’Mor lived in is mainly agricultural. Havraha went to the same school as his brothers but was only an average student. Everyone knew H’Daen was the smart, and Havraha was alright with that. He rather enjoyed following Galan out into the fields after class and tended to the harvest.

Havraha was the most popular of the three brothers, mainly because he was the most athletic. Maec was the only one who never seemed to stand out. Both he and Maec were widely accepted at school, but H’Daen was teased a lot for his lack of cranial ridges. Everyone knew from their biology classes that not all Romulans developed the distinguishing feature, but the stereotype of being a Vulcan in disguise still remained. Havraha broke up many of the fights that his older brother always seemed to get himself in to. Despite the common occurrence of these fights, Havraha never became upset with his brother. All three brothers were rather close. It was as if nothing could separate them.

Then one day, the sons realized their parents were quite silent. The tuition bill had arrived. The harvest from the previous year had not been very profitable due to a particularly dry season. None of the brothers knew if they’d be returning to classes the next term. They pleaded with their father to let them take a semester off and help with the farm. Galan would have none of it. They all knew H’Daen would be the R’Mor to become someone and elevated the family in the social hierarchy. As he had never graduated himself, Galan did want his children to suffer the same setback as he. Havraha and Maec would also be going back with their brother.

Galan and Jaeih approached one of their clients for help. The cook set up an audience with Senator Tei, who’s position in the Senate only seemed to be rising. They agreed to grow solely for the House of Tei in exchange for the money needed to put their children through schooling. Despite Galan’s objections, all three brothers worked the farm after classes. The s’Tei representative who kept inspecting their work expected more of the overworked family.

Disappointed with the farm’s lack of productivity, the s'Tei sent Maec to work in the dilithium mines on Remus when H'Daen was 18 years old. H’Daen was doing very well in academics, and Havraha was a key player in several of the sports teams. Maec was the only one whose potential had not yet been revealed. Hoping to somehow profit from these brothers, Maec was the obvious choice for the mine. He mysteriously died a few months later. The Tal Shiar investigation labeled the death an accident, but H'Daen never accepted the story. Havraha wasn’t sure how he felt, but he noticed how obsessed his brother was in finding out the truth. He at least convinced his older brother to do his own investigation in the future.

The s'Tei were not about let the R'Mor’s off easily and extended the contract between them. In an attempt to save his family, H'Daen made a deal with the Clan. He would serve in the Galae, provided his family's debt was considered paid off. Havraha never knew of the secret agreement but grew suspicious when his brother suddenly decided to go to the Galae’Shiar Academy. One night, the farmstead was burglarized. A Tal’Shiar investigation turned up inconclusive, but H’Daen became quiet and internalized. It was as if he knew something but wouldn’t say what.

Havraha stood with his parents at the Academy gates as his only remaining brother went off to become an officer. They communicated frequently. H’Daen always asked if everything was fine at home. Havraha finally drilled the reason out of him: the Tal’Shiar would ship him up to Remus if H’Daen did anything less than his best. He was sworn never to tell their parents, as they were already under enough stress from the repeated visits by the Tei household. He reluctantly agreed and supported his brother’s choice to one day use his influence as a Galae’Shiar officer to free their family and discover what happened to Maec.

Upon his own graduation, Havraha chose to join the Agricultural Guild with his father. Galan protested at first, but quickly realized how skilled he was with advanced farming equipment. He even took a few extra courses to make the farm more efficient. It was his hope to one day earn enough money to buy his family’s freedom from the Tei House.

But the Elements had other plans. Jaeih became mentally ill. She had never quite coped with Maec’s death. It was particularly hard on her because he was the youngest. She had slipped a few times while H’Daen was at the Academy. Even though he was still on Romulus, she kept imagining him out in the Beta Quadrant somewhere. She became even worse once he was assigned to a science vessel. Jaeih used to cling to Havraha as if he was the only son she had left. Fearing a breakdown, Galan used his lifesavings to bring in a counselor. They made quick progress and she was declared sane again. However, she slipped irreversibly once she heard H’Daen was involved in some battle on the other side of the Neutral Zone. Even though Havraha had showed her the report that the Shadowhawk was bringing Admiral Tei back to Romulus, his mother would shout that the report meant nothing. The family finally received a transmission from H’Daen, but Jaeih was too far gone to come back. She cried herself to sleep one night and never woke up again.

Galan and Havraha had a private service on the homestead. They buried Jaeih next to Maec. Father and son did their best to keep the farm running, but Galan eventually succumbed to old age. Feeling like he was useless, Galan too started to veer of the edge of sanity. Havraha would work the fields while Galan took care of the meals. Havraha would find a place set for his mother on most days. And then Galan had to be hospitalized as his age prevented him from doing most things.

This time, Havraha went to opulent office of Senator Tei. He wondered how many of the art pieces had been paid for by his own sweat and blood. Tei knew that one man couldn’t run the entire farm, so he offered Havraha a job as a personal assistant. In exchange, he could keep the family land and pay for his father’s continued medical care. Havraha had no choice and so accepted it right away. Fortunately, his job as lunch getter was short lived.

Lern and his forces had managed to overthrow Tei and bring about some change in the government. Havraha happened to be in the lobby when the troops moved in. He freely gave them the layout and most direct route to the Senator. H’Daen also returned home from a mission. They went to go see Galan, ultimately for the last time. Galan had a brief moment of lucidity when he saw his two sons, and then asked about Maec. They let the old man die in peace and also buried him on the farm.

The family farm still belongs to the brothers. With the senator dethroned, the R’Mor’s were finally free of their debt to the s’Tei. Havraha was taking a break from tilling the land when a job offer came his way. The Mne'eoth Rihan ih'Shiar (MRS, or Romulan News Network) was looking for an inside person to write about their experiences inside the Tei office during the shift in power. Havraha never saw himself as a writer. He did alright in the language classes, but he decided to give it a try. The editor liked it so much, that he offered the R’Mor a position as a staff reporter. Seeing this as a sign from the Elements, Havraha accepted it and now works the land between articles.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Havraha doesn’t have one particular most painful. He lost three members of his family, and was present for two of the deaths. However, seeing his mother progressively decline was probably the worst.
Most Crucial Experience: Being present when Senator Tei was removed from power. He feels as though he greatly contributed to the tyrant’s downfall.
Role Model: Galan. Havraha’s father took the brunt of two deaths in his family and kept moving forward in his life. Galan would have continued to work the fields had his strength been up for the task. Havraha admires that determination and hopes to be just as hard working.
