Personal History
Peter was born to Star Fleet Officers who served on the USS McCoy, were he lived for the first five years of his life with his parents, it was then decided that he would be safer and he would have a better up bringing living on Earth, so Peter was sent to live with his grandparents, even thought he didn't grow up with his parents he never held a grudge against his parents for this, his grandparents gave him the upbringing that he wanted and they were always there for him. During his school life he was a regular student not sticking out of the crowd, however during his last 2 years, Peter started to pull ahead in his engineering studies.
Following graduation from main stream education, Peter managed to get a job in the civilian sector with a company that deals with building civilian accommodation and other buildings, he originally started as a worker but managed to show he understood what was needed and stood out from the crowd and after the first year working for this company, Peter was put through a structural engineering course which would take 3 years of his life to complete. He passed the course with flying colours and had a job making sure that everything was done correctly thought out every stage.
Peter had worked for the building company for a few years and he had started to get restless doing the same thing over and over again and following another conversation with his parents and grandparents he decided to try another adventure and joined StarFleet to find another adventure.
Following his graduation from StarFleet Academy he was assigned to the USS Copernicus as an engineering officer, where he fitted in quickly and easily, following a successful career at the lower ranks in engineering, he was promoted to Chief Engineer where he continued to serve with distinction.
Upon returning from a mission, Peter had received a personal message from his grandmother, which told him that his grandfather had suffered from a massive heart attack and even thought the medic's had tried their hardest to save him, but was unable to. This hit Peter really hard as it felt like he had lost his father and he had considered resigning his position and staying to help his grandmother, however he felt that his grandfather would have been really annoyed with him of he had not carried on with his career, so he remained on board ship.
During shore leave on Stardate 21211.06 Peter returned to his grandparents house to see gran was doing and discovered that she had suffered a massive stroke which left her unable to live without assistance, so he decided that as she had raised him from a boy it was his turn to look after her during her time of need, so he resigned his commission.
Unfortunately his gran suffered another massive stroke a few years later which caused a massive heart attack which resulted in her death. Peter then decided to return to active duty with StarFleet as that was were his heart belonged.
After rejoining he took a refreshed course at the Academy as he needed to get back into the swing of being in StarFleet and also technology had moved on which meant he needed to get to grips with things so that he didn't look like a complete newbie. He also managed to convince Jess that she could come with him as an enlisted nurse working in the sickbay of where ever he was assigned with even thought initially she didn't want to do.
