Also known as the "PSI 2000 virus"

Polywater intoxication is an a water-borne virus which suppresses inhibitions, distorts perceptions of reality an relaxes its victim’s inhibitions similar to the way an intoxicant will.

Onset occurs within an hour of exposure. Other symptoms include distorted reality, visual hallucinations, tremors or seizures, lack of coordination, erratic emotions, appetite extremes, and paranoia.
It also increases skin perspiration and raises body temperature to uncomfortable levels. It spreads through skin-to-skin contact, specifically through perspiration.

First noted on the planet Psi 2000, the affliction is caused by the introduction of polywater (a form of water created by extreme gravimetric conditions such as the break-up of a planet) into the systems of humanoids, where it acquires carbon and adversely affects the brain. Polywater molecules are able to propagate themselves in a similar way to a virus.

It is known that this affliction can affect Humans, Vulcans and Betazoids. Unusually, it is also able to affect Soong type androids by disrupting components within their processing systems.

There is an antidote, but if it is not available, forcing the patient to exercise will counteract the symptoms.
