A plasma weapon is a type of particle weapon, and uses plasma as a means of inflicting damage to the target.

• During the early- to mid-22nd century, Earth Cargo Service freighters were commonly equipped with low-yield plasma cannons. They were often referred to as "pop-guns," and were only designed to break up asteroids and meteors. However, the captains of these freighters were often known to upgrade the cannons in to more powerful ones.

• Enterprise, NX-01 was equipped with several plasma cannons during the first days of its mission

• It was later upgraded to the more-advanced phase cannons.
• Enterprise's "Shuttlepod 1" was equipped with dual plasma cannons.

• Plasma rifles were a common hand-held plasma weapon used by many species in the 22nd century.

• During the 23rd century, plasma torpedoes were extremely powerful torpedo weapons, and were composed of high-energy plasma

• used by Romulans on Birds-of-Prey

• Plasma torpedoes were still used by the Romulans in the 24th century.

Other Uses

Concentrated plasma charges

• Warp plasma can be vented into space by a starship. The plasma could then be ignited with particle weapons. The resulting explosion would be powerful enough to disable the propulsion of ships enveloped in the plasma field.

• An EM pulse can be fired at a star, which can trigger a destructive solar plasma ejection.

• A modified laser scanner, combined with a plasma inverter, can be used to fire off an incapacitating plasma shock.

• Exposure to plasma fire could cause varying degrees of burns on the body.

• Being thrown into a plasma fire could even cause a person to vaporize.
