Johnson, KS is a very small farming town. The type of place where you knew everyone by their first name. It's here that Scarlet grew up with her baby sister working a ranch with parents. There were many times with she grew tired of everyone knowing who she was. There was no possible way for her to do anything without her parents knowledge of it unless she caught a ride out of town. This was where her best friend came in. Stephanie was from a family far more into the city life than Scarlet was. They would always be going off on one trip or another, Scarlet of course would often come along, giving her the chance to see things she otherwise might not have.
The older Scarlet got, the closer she became with her family. If there was something wonderful to be said about a small town it was it had a wonderful way of bringing family together. During most holidays, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Grandparents all came to her parent's ranch to be together. One particular Uncle was a Starfleet Captain. His stories captivated her interest in exploring the stars like he did. And over the years she sent many messages conversing back and forth with him. And then came the day his letters would stop. The only real information Scarlet ever got about her Uncle's death was that it was a diplomatic mission gone wrong. It was enough to cement Scarlet's eventual enrollment into Starfleet Academy.
It would take many years past her Grade School years for her to actually join however. A man had allot to do with this decision, one whom she had thought to be the love of her life. There was an almost flawless sense to them, or so her best friend used to tell her. But it eventually turned south as Scarlet began voicing her interest in picking up a career in Starfleet. He wanted things to remain the same as they always had been, which was not something Scarlet ever liked. Being idle, it was a foreign concept to her as she had always been doing something. Whether it be helping her parents take care of their ranch or picking up odd jobs that suited her fancy. And the more she thought about being tied to Earth the rest of her life the more restless she became to follow her current desires. To this day, the two are amicable friends but not much more due to the way in which things ended.
Placed aboard the Ticonderoga, she could have never known what position she would be put in. She figured it would be much like what other security officers had groaned about. Being put on a detail in which all one does is stand. As it so happened, she was put as a second to an Ens Elitsha. Toleration was about the only thing Scarlet could manage with her, as no amount of being nice made the woman happy. There was little time to dwell on her as the crew were taken into battle at Carraya.
As it so happened Scarlet was given control of her team, after an accident with her superior, She was sent over to the Carraya Station after being briefed of her new mission to achieve. She was meant to take over the engineering of the station. Things as they always do, didn't go as planned. She was forced to pull herself and her team out to prevent the total casualty of the team that was there. This hasn't sat with her well at all and she's worked to get over this initial failure to complete an assignment since.

Long-Term Goals: To sucessfully advance through the ranks, and gain the ability to be in a position where she can protect those around her in any way that she can.
Personality: Scarlet has a very caring demeanor, to those very close to her. When upset or angered she becomes a little erratic, often because she is unable to define where the excess energy needs to go to.
Sense of Humor: At times she can be very awkward when it comes to jokes, or at least telling them. She doesn't tend to have a sense of humor until she's relaxed, then almost anything can be funny to her.

Likes: Learning anything that's "hands on" friendly, outdoors
Dislikes: Needless fighting

Off Duty Clothing Tastes: It varies based on Scarlet's mood. Most days it's jeans and a nice comfortable shirt. Other days she prefers to dress up in a particularly showy outfit or dress. She takes any chance she can get to not wear shoes.
Distinguishing Features: None that are visible with clothing on. There is a tattoo from a night she doesn't remember of a Griffon on the back of her right shoulder. She never bothered to have it removed.
Pets: A horse named Willomeen - staying on her parent's ranch back on Earth.
Friends: Stephanie Wilkins - From the time the two entered grade school, they became an inseparable pair. If not a troublesome pair.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: When Scarlet was about 15, her and her sister had gone out for a ride. Rebecca was just learning to ride her recently aquired pet. While riding along a path Scarlet had ridden time and time again, Rebecca's horse became spooked by a close, loud crack of thunder. Rebecca being novice at best in controlling her horse fell off, getting stepped on a number of times before Scarlet could get it under control. She almost lost her sister that day and because of it she never tried teaching anyone to ride again.
Best Time: Travelling with Stephanie after graduating grade school. They stayed on planet Earth but traversed all over.
Most Crucial Experience: The death of her Uncle, Joseph Dentin, a Starfleet Captain who Scarlet spent most of her childhood writing to. It created a drive to protect those that needed protecting.
Role Model: Cliche though it may be, her parents. Scarlet learned all her morals and work ethic from their examples.
