Captain's Logs

Capt Raymond Gage

Stardate 20206.03

Captain's Log, Stardate 20206.03.

The return to the Philly and preparing for our next mission has brought on some interesting events. I have selected a new First Officer, a task I never envisioned having to take on right after only the ships first major mission.

Commander Ysiadina Laneal joins the crew in that capacity. Commander Laneal and I served together aboard the Valley Forge and again on the Enterprise during the Pulsar Incident. She has performed exceptionally well during her time on the Valley Forge and comes with the highest reccomendation from her former Captain, Dan Wueste. I look forward to working with her again and am pleased to have her aboard.

On an opposite note, Lieutenant Commander Valiant has been chosen for the First Officer's slot aboard the newly commissioned USS Titan. The new CO of the Titan, Commander Tam Otlan, also a former shipmate, asked for LCdr Valiant's release which I readily gave. Mr. Valiant has grown into a fine officer and will be sorely missed, leaving a gap in Tactical which I need to fill. The staff there is young and, with the exception of Mr. Knight, inexperienced. I have quereied Star Fleet as to a possible replacement for Mr. Valiant.

I look forward to launching and getting the stars back under my feet. This ship and this Captain belong out there, where we can make a difference. End Log.

Captain's Log, Stardate 20206.20.

We are currently underway for the Roxion system where we will link up and lead a small task force, escorting a freighter convoy, consisting of the Philly and two other Berlin classed frigates, the London and Dover.

My request for a replacement CTO was granted and LCdr Cooper Vance has joined the crew. Mr. Vance is...interesting. He has enjoyed a checkered career in Star Fleet but his credentials as a tactical officer, pilot, and leader are impeccable. I personally am glad to have him aboard as he gives another insight within the command structure.

A mission briefing will commence shortly and the context of it will be added to the log. ETA to Roxion is 6 hours 23 minutes. End Log. Captain's Log, Stardate 20207.11.

We have linked up with the remainder of the convoy and departed the Roxion system for Dermath.

Upon arriving sensors detected a warbird de-cloaking in our path. I ordered us into red alert raising shields and charging weapons.

Upon closer inspection neither a visual nor the tactical sensors detected the warbird's prescence. Although I fully trust LCdr Dramar, I am still having a full diagnostic run on the main sensors as well as other systems. It concerns me that our "eyes" are effected in this way. I have every confidence in the science department to sort this out whether alone or with LCdr Goddard and her engineers assistance.

Now nearly one third of the way through our escort mission, the first "glitch" seems to have arisen.

The Captain of one of the freighters, the White Star, has contacted me in regards to a death aboard his ship. He feels it may be under suspicious circumstances. I have recalled Cdr Laneal to the bridge to put together an away team, to investigate the death.

Stardate 20208.09

Captain's Log, Stardate 20208.09.

The away team, led by Commander Laneal, has departed to the White Star. I have yet to receive a status report but can only assume things are going smoothly.

The convoy is continuing on its course to Dermath. We are nearing the only perilous portion of our journey, where we skirt near what was, and is, the border wof Romulan space.

Stardate 20209.04

Captain's Log, Stardate 20209.04.

Not long after the away team transported to the White Star the situation turned ugly. A small fleet of pirate ships dropped in on the convoy and started attack runs. At the same time frantic communications from the away team came in. As it turned out the Captain of the White Star was involved with a pirate group and had stowed pirate craft aboard his freighter, all in hopes of overtaking the convoy. The quick actions of the away team foiled this plot.

In the course of performing his duty Commander Peter Williams, Cheif of Security, lost his life. Let it be noted that Commander Williams acted with the utmost heroism, putting his ship, crew and mission ahead of his own personal peril. He will be sorely missed.

Combined with a loss of their ships aboard the White Star and the agressive tactics of the escorts, the pirate attack was stopped and they retreated after taking heavy losses.

A priority message was received from Star Fleet, ordering the Philadelphia to rendezvous with the light cruiser USS Titan in the vicinity of the Sheridan Nebula, in an attempt to locate the USS Gettysburg. We are transiting there now and shold arrive shortly.

Stardate 20210.14

Captain's Log, Stardate 20210.14.

Following a successful rendezvous with the USS Titan, a senior staff meeting was held aboard her to discuss our upcoming search for the Gettysburg.

It was heartening to be among old friends and crewmates again although the reason behind the reunion was less than enjoyable.

There were many differing opinions as to what had occurred to the Gettysburg, some of which cast aspersions onto Dan Wueste, her CO.

While I personally have only met with Dan a few times, we seemed to click and I was looking forward to fostering a continued friendship with the man. My impression was not one that would lead me to believe Dan would operate outside of his orders. However, his friends and former senior officers, Commanders Otlan and Laneal, as well as LCdr Valiant all believed he would have found some way to attempt a rescuse of his captured officer, LCdr Samantha Aster, who, coincidentally was Dan's romantic interest.

Taking all of this into consideration, I have ordered a search of the nebula to consist of both ships proceeding straight through at as high a speed as possible and the use of as many probes as needed. My gut tells me Dan is in Romulan space but I need to cover all the bases and still conduct a rudimentary search of the nebula.

Stardate 20211.04

Captain's Log, Stardate 20211.04.

After concluding a search of the nebula, the Titan and Philadelphia were "ambushed" by a small fleet of Romulan ships. Intense action ensued and a call for assistance was broadcast.

Suddenly, the Gettysburg appeared coming from Romulan Space. Just when it appeared the odds were evened a bit, another small fleet that had been in pursuit of the Getty appeared. We were once again nearly outgunned.

Our hail for assistance was answered by none other than the USS Republic, the carrier of the second fleet and the only operational ship of its class. Needless to say short order was made of the Romulans and they retreated.

An officer's call was issued by Admiral Beckett, the CINC and the current CO of the Republic. Announcements were made and promotions handed out.

It is with both a heavy and happy heart I announce that this will be my last log entry as Commanding Officer of this vessel. I have been promoted to the rank of Commodore and assigned as the new CO of the Republic.

It is with immense pride and fond memories that I relinquish command of the Philadelphia to my First Officer, Commander, now Captain, Ysiadina Laneal. She has a fine crew and dependable ship. I wish them all the success the future will bring.
