Personal Log - Ensign John Dempsey - Stardate 20709.22.

I'm managing to log this after snatching a few hours precious sleep in the Security Office; to say that things have been hectic would be to make an understatement a Vulcan would be jealous of. The power has finally come back online, and the Brig is secure, ready for any prisoners to be beamed over from the Convoy vessels. So, I can write this down.

The fire in the Wardroom that so nearly killed the Senior Members and the various Convoy personnel also present in the room, was not the accident that we initially believed it to be. With Lieutenant Eisenmann onboard one of the Convoy vessels, the investigation fell to me. It was hardly something I envied, but I tried to do the best I could.

After numerous scans of the Wardroom, a number of suspicious results were confirmed by Tricorder, indicating that the failure of the fire-suppression system had not been a simple computer error. Tracking the faults to the Tertiary Computer Core, myself and the Chief Science Officer, Lieutenant Idnu, found that the fire, as well as an assault on an Engineering Officer, had been orchestrated by a rogue computer program.

Once discovered, we attempted to isolate the program on Deck Five, in the Crew Quarters area, after locking the ship down in General Quarters Four. However, despite numerous security personnel being present, the program escaped from the Quarters where it had been detected.

I will readily admit that at time we got desperate. We had no way of directly fighting the program, and it seemed only a matter of time before it managed to kill someone or access vital systems in the ships mainframe. As such, myself and Lieutenant Idnu headed for Engineering and the Computer Core Access therein.

Our plan, if it could be called that, was to completely shut down and then re-initialize the three Computer Cores - Primary, Secondary and Tertiary. This would hopefully purge the computer program from the Philadelphia and therefore save the vessel and crew from further harm. Whilst the purge was mostly successful, seeming to scare the program away, an errant computer message indicates that it may have escaped.

Whether the program will be back is unknown, but I would bet more than a few strips of Latinum that we haven't seen the last of it, even with its master dead. For now, however, the convoy is heading towards Buccordia and our rendezvous with the colonists there. What will happen next remains to be seen.
