Personal History

Sara grew up a normal girl on the colony of New Ireland, in the city of New Dublin. Following, World War III in 2026 much of Earth's population fled the planet in the wake of the atomic war and founded colonies in deep space. A group of Irish citizens settled a planet in the Venkemu System on the far side of the Kemdrusa Expanse. The world was barley a Class- M world when the settlers arrived, as a result the computer kept them in stasis until the seed pods and terra forming equipment finished planting and preparing the planet for the colonists.

The original three hundred thousand colonist’s terra formed the planet and over the last 387 years the plants, the trees and other crops; as well as the animal life they brought with them had been planted and thrived and the planet is now considered a solid Class- M world with almost six hundred- fifty million inhabitants. The colony lost contact with Earth in 2087 but was reestablished several years later when a Federation probe discovered Human life signs so far from Earth.

The colony of New Ireland wanted to escape the horrors of war, fearing that the atomic fall out and resulting radiation would mean an end to the Human race on Earth the colonists embraced a more traditional Irish way of life living in harmony with nature, in hopes to keep the Human race from dying out. Knowing that such an agrarian way of life could mean hostile alien neighbors could come and enslave the people or worse kill the Humans of New Ireland. As a result of that fear the colonists embraced technology as well. The colonists took apart several of the original ships they arrived in to build a very technological and sophisticated but harmonious society blending technology and agriculture in ways that people never thought of before.

Sara’s parents are warm down to earth people who always make you feel welcome. Sara’s mother is the best cook on New Ireland having won several cooking awards; Sara’s father expanding waist line is a testament to his wife prowess in the kitchen. Sara’s mother raised her and her sisters to be proper young ladies and her father raised her brothers to be proper gentlemen. In the Pendragon house it is always, “Yes, Please or No, Thank you.”

Sara’s father is your typical burly Irish man. Handsome, big and strong the type of guy you didn’t mess with. However, he is just a big teddy bear. Sara pretty much has her father wrapped around her little finger. Sara and her mother are best of friends and they get along rather well.

Sara’s family can trace their family back all the way to Earth. In fact the Pendragon and Sharry families can trace their roots back to the Spanish Armada but, she is a proud Irish girl and not afraid to show it.

Sara grew up in a family of seven in a traditional Irish Catholic family; no meat on Friday’s and Church every Sunday. Growing up Sara loved school, she excelled in her studies and in fact was accepted to several of the Federation’s top colleges, the University of Betazed, the Vulcan Science Academy, the Andorian School of Medicine, Harvard University of Earth, the University of Mars just to name a few. However, it was Star Fleet Academy that won her heart.

When Sara was about eleven or twelve years old her Grandma Sharry took sick, Sara loved Grandma Sharry. Grandma Sharry and Sara would play games and bake and were very close. One day Grandma Sharry had a massive stroke, the doctors didn’t give her many days to live. However, Sara didn’t give up on her beloved Grandma; Sara doted on her Grandma, reading to her, bathing her, giving her medicine, feeding her; even helping her Grandma with her physical and speech therapy. For four years Sara helped take care of her Grandma at home. One day while in school the Head Master fetched Sara and informed her that her beloved Grandma had passed away, just after her morning cup of tea. Sara was so upset; she was running late for school that day and didn’t get a chance to give her Grammy a kiss good-bye. Sara enjoyed taking care of her Grandma, it was then that Sara knew that she wanted to be a doctor that she wanted to care for those who couldn’t care for themselves.

In High School Sara excelled in subjects like Biology, Chemistry and the Sciences, winning the school Science Fair four years in a row but Sara always did well in her classes, her parents wouldn't have it any other way. Those classes drew Sara to the world of medicine. While in high school Sara spent several summers as a nurse’s aide in New Dublin working in long term care facilities, regular hospitals and clinics, to see if the world of medicine was for her. As luck would have it, she loved it. She took to it like a moth to a flame. Sara felt an incredible sense of joy and fulfillment taking care of people. It warmed her heart to see people looking at her with a look of happiness and relief when she helped them. When she was taking care of people she often thought of her beloved Grandma.

When Sara was just eight-teen she was crowned Miss New Ireland, it was a wonderful experience meeting all kinds of important and famous people of New Ireland. Sara enjoyed meeting the children. As Miss New Ireland she got to go to Orphanages and Children’s Hospitals to meet and comfort sick children.

Sara could have stayed on New Ireland and worked in a hospital for the rest of her life but, Sara yearned for more. At night Sara would go out on her balcony at night and look up into the night sky. The stars seemed to call to her. She craved excitement and adventure but she also wanted to help people but, she wanted to see new worlds, new people.

Sara is a very open person, forceful person. Growing up in a large family meant you had to be more forceful to get noticed and not have older brothers bully you. Sara worked in her family’s store, Pendragon’s Leather & Lace. Sara’s family owns a small farm outside New Dublin. They manufacture good of leather and lace, in fact it is the most successful such business on New Ireland. Here brothers and sisters all live and work on New Ireland, in various careers. Sara was the first in her family to join Star Fleet.

Sara’s family especially her parents are so proud of her for joining Star Fleet, as they felt that New Ireland needs to strengthen its ties with Earth. Upon graduation her parents gave her a beautiful traditional Irish Claddagh Ring, it was silver with a ruby for the heart, with classic Claddagh, the symbol for love, loyalty and friendship. Alternating Claddagh symbols and inset Celtic knotwork, all set in a ring.
