Pegasus Mission 03: "Occupy Pegasus"

Mission Summary

The USS Pegasus, a part of the 4th Fleet was assigned along with several other vessels to explore the Dalmatia System. The Dalmatia System was a region of space discovered by the Federation several years before containing roughly 101 separate and unique planets all of which were named for famous composers.

The USS Pegasus was assigned to explore an M-Classes planet named Weyden which, although unconfirmed, was likely to hold lifeforms on the planet. The journey to Weyden was rather uneventful and allowed for the crew to get to know their new commanding officer, Commander Ryan Cooper, better. By the time they reached Weyden the crew was, for the most part, use to his leadership style.

It turned out Weyden did indeed contain sophisticated beings on the planet. An away team, led by Commander Azernal, was quickly assembled and sent to the planet to make first contact.

Back on the Pegasus the crew was forced to deal with the effects left by sophisticated sensor net that had scanned Pegasus as it approached the planet's orbit. The scan had seemingly copied the entire Pegasus computer and caused multiple systems, including power and gravity, to fail on various decks on the ship.

The away team's initial trip to the planet did not last as long as they would have hoped. They were able to explore some of the flora and fauna of the planet as well as make contact with a man named Nevins who was a delegate of the planet. The away team however was quickly overcome with extreme fatigue like symptoms and were forced to excuse themselves from the planet and return to the, now fixed, Pegasus.

The medical staff on the Pegasus, now under the lead of Johan Schwicker, was unable to determine a cause for the extreme fatigue feelings. It was speculated that the planet's atmosphere, while not directly the cause, was different enough from anything they had experienced, to cause the symptoms. The away team were ordered to rest and remained under observation for the night. It would be discovered later that they had been infected with micro-organism that modified their behavior.

The next day each team member felt rested enough to return to the planet, at the invitation of Nevins and the rest of the population of Weyden. The original away team was sent to the planet as it was believed they were more adapted to the planet's atmosphere and potential fatigue-like effects. The away team was greeted by a large carnival like atmosphere and were highly welcomed on the planet's surface.

Meanwhile back on the fully functioning Pegasus sensors picked up a rather large asteroid on a collision course with the planet of Weyden. Estimates clearly indicated that the planet would be severely damaged, and eventually totally destroyed, if impact occurred. The Pegasus quickly moved in to place and destroyed enough of the asteroid to cause the large chunks to miss the planet and the small chunks to burn up in the atmosphere.

Back on Weyden Nevins showed Azernal a piece of technology which allowed the non-space-faring Snainoci to view planets and star systems as far away as the Delta Quadrant. Azernal asked to see his home planet of Bajor, which had recently become a part of the Federation. The Snainoci technology however did not reveal the beautiful planet of Bajor but instead a debris cloud where the planet use to be. It appeared something, or someone, had destroyed the planet.

Azernal and the away team quickly returned to Pegasus to fill the rest of the crew in on their discovery. Although not totally convinced, Cooper realized this required more research. Azernal however wanted to use a piece of untested Snainoci technology that promised to fling the Pegasus back to Bajor in seconds. Cooper refused to use this technology which caused, a manipulated Azernal, to mutiny against Cooper. The majority of the away team, also under the influence of the microorganisms from Weyden, sided with Azernal in the mutiny.

Eventually Cooper escaped his ready room, with the help of the Chief Engineer, and determined a plan to retake the bridge. This did not occur until after Azernal steered the Pegasus through the Snainoci wormhole technology. By this time they had discovered that the microorganisms were implanted by members of the Snainoci government to attempt to steal the Pegasus and get members of their society off planet before the asteroid strike (for they had no preventive measure to stop it). Due to their information Schwicker was able to develop an injection to counter effect the short lived organisms.

The bridge raid, although successful, did not come without sacrifices. A security officer named Ty Lawson was killed by an infected away team member. That same member, Edwards, also stabbed Cooper in the gut and in an attempt to stop Edwards from doing further damage, was shot at with his own phaser by Commander Azernal. What Azernal did not know was that the phaser was set to kill and that Cooper had moved in the same moment causing the Commanding Officer to be killed in an instant.

Pegasus, which was now in Federation space, was intercepted by the USS Chin'toka and escorted back to Star Base Delta were a full inquiry was to take place given the Commanding Officer's death.

Captain's log ... I must say that when this day started I did not expect to say those words. I had heard rumors that I was being assigned a command position on a starship and I had guessed it was the USS Pegasus. To be honest however I expected to be named her First Officer rather than Commanding Officer.

Of course I know the logical next position for me was C-O of a vessel I was just not certain that Star Fleet agreed with that assessment. It seems clear now that they were.

I therefore now find myself in in my ready room onboard the USS Pegasus. I was informed by Commodore Draev that a recall had already been issued for the crew of the USS Pegasus and that the ship is scheduled to launch from Star Base Delta in less than twenty-four hours.

This of course leaves me very little time to get to know the specifics of the Pegasus before we launch. I have only heard great things about her crew and am excited to get to know them in the future.

I currently am not aware of why the recall was issued but it does not seem to be an emergency recall and I am therefore hopeful that I will have proper time to get antiquated with the ship and personnel before we find ourselves in a critical scenario.

I am currently waiting for the First Officer of the Pegasus, Azernal Rin, to report to my Ready Room so we can meet for the first time. I am hopeful this meeting will go well as it will set the tone for our time together on the Pegasus.

[The crew recall went off without much of a hitch. We had a few stragglers barely make it onboard on time. I have asked Commander Azernal to look into speeding up the process in the future.

The USS Pegasus left Star Base Delta on time and, knowing the speed of a Light Cruiser well, I told our helmsmen to punch the Pegasus to maximum warp speed as soon as he safely could. I must admit I was not expecting him to jump straight to such a high warp without building up speed first but he managed the maneuver flawlessly and it appeared the Pegasus was up to the task.

I do have one area of complaint. It appeared several of our bridge consoles were only semi-operational right before launch. While I must applaud Lieutenant Commander Scott, our Chief Engineer, for getting them fixed in such a short time, I have already filed an official complaint with Delta's Engineering Department for such a grave oversight.

We are several weeks away from Star Base Bravo, our first destination, and I plan on using the time to get to know the crew better.

Rumor has it our upcoming mission is going to be scientific in nature. I am a fan of science missions for many reasons and hope that the rumor is true.

I should also note that we are giving Commodore Dramar a lift to Bravo. He has thus far been an excellent passenger.

[Our journey to Star Base Bravo went by without incident. I have Commander Azernal lead several departments through drills and training exercises and I ran the bridge drills myself. I was more than impressed with the results of the drills. It appears the rumors of the Pegasus crew were not far fetched at all.

Once docked at Bravo Commander Azernal and myself attended a meeting held in the science labs of the immense class star base. The meeting was held by our travel guest Commodore Dramar and was attended by the command staffs from the USS Sheridan, USS Philadelphia, USS Copernicus, and of course USS Pegasus.

Commodore Dramar briefed us on a Star System I had never heard of before. The Dalmatia System was a very large system of over 100 planets that orbited a Red Super Giant. Our mission was clear, travel to Dalmatia together and then break off and investigate various planets on our own.

During the meeting Dramar informed me that he would be remaining on the Pegasus during the course of the mission. Normally I would not like to have a Commodore on my ship 'watching over my shoulder' but Dramar proved during the journey from Delta to Bravo that he was not a 'back-seat-commander' and appeared to only be interested in his research.

After the meeting Commander Azernal and I returned to the Pegasus where we spent several hours pouring over the mission data to allow us to accurately present it at our Senior Officer meeting the next morning.

The Senior Officer meeting did not go exactly like I had expected. I had hoped that the crew would be excited about an exploration mission. After all, it was the core reason for Star Fleet's existence. It however appears that constant conflict, war, and battle have hardened the majority of this crew. While I appreciate, and expect, for the crew to look for potential threats and problems this crew so far has gone out of their way to invent potential issues.

I fear they will do two things. First, that they will miss the excitement and beauty that exploration holds. Second, that they will mistake something non-threatening as a threat and act in a hostile manner.

I should note that some of the Senior Officers, especially Tucker and Scott, seem as excited about the mission as I do.

My first official Senior Officer meeting ended a little different than I would have liked. I had to be a little outright with several officers including our Chief Tactical Officer. I suppose I will need to try and mend that bridge while we make our way to Dalmatia.

[We not only arrived to Dalmatia but have now also arrived to the planet Weyden.

Weyden is a Class-M planet that Star Fleet suspected, and we have confirmed, contains life. Upon entering high orbit the USS Pegasus passed through some sort of sensor net and underwent a very through scan. We are still trying to ascertain if the scan copied information from out computer banks.

I have ordered further scans of the planet and we have been able to learn that the lifesigns seem to be gathered in clusters which indicated that the people down there have formed cities. This is a clear sign of advanced life.

We have not been able to get a fully accurate read on their level of technology but if they are the ones who placed the sensor net then it is clear that they are an advanced species.

It is worthy of note that we were unable to pick up a communications array and are therefore unable to hail them and make first contact from the ship. This does not necessarily mean that they are not advanced enough to attempt to communicate with. Their technology might just be very different from ours.

I have therefore ordered Commander Azernal to take an away team down to the planet and initiate first contact with the inhabitants of the planet. I am very excited about the next several hours.

[The away team, which is being led by Commander Azernal, has landed on the planet Weyden safely. A very large part of me was jealous that they are down on the planet getting to investigate a planet no human has been on while I am on the Pegasus.

My jealousy however was forced from my mind. The USS Pegasus, likely due to the scan that affected our systems, is currently experiencing a loss of gravity in a few areas of the ship. One such area is the bridge. Luckily the bridge crew, except for a weak stomached security officer, seems to be handling the change in gravity with ease.

There are currently several engineers working on the situation. In the meantime the bridge crew is attempting to work as normally as possible. Our progress however is limited by our handicaps.

Our Chief Medical Officer, Lieutenant Commander Laura Macleod, has been requested on the USS Philadelphia to help with a medical incident that has incapacitated their chief medical officer. Doctor Macleod left via shuttle before the 'hiccups' began throughout the ship.

Doctor Drake is Assistant Chief Medical Officer and while I think the Doctor is very capable medically of filling in during Doctor Macleod's absence I am not sure he would be a good fit if Doctor Macleod is stuck on the Philadelphia for an extended period of time. When things settle down a bit I plan on looking through the other capable doctors in the medical department.

[The Engineering crew have managed to restore gravity throughout Pegasus. As expected the malfunction was caused by the sensor net we passed through while entering orbit of Weyden. The same sensor net has caused some problems with the main computer and Lieutenant Lily and her teams are currently working on the situation.

In the meantime Ensign Phoenix, an Engineer assigned to the bridge, has requested we launch a probe to investigate the sensor net. I have given my permission for the probe to be launched and I am eagerly anticipating the results from the probe.

The scanning technology that the sensor net seems to have is extremely in-depth. It seemingly managed to copy much of our computer information in a very short time. If we, more specifically the Federation, could somehow trade for this technology it would be prove to be invaluable in any future conflicts the Federation found itself in.

I have therefore stressed the importance of gaining as much information as possible about this technology to both the crew on the vessel as well as Commander Crawford who recently contacted me from the planet's surface with an away team update.

Speaking of the away team, Commander Crawford confirmed to me that they have made contact with the natives of the Planet Weyden. It seems the first contact is being made through a man named Nevin's whose title is 'Undersecretary of External Affairs'. This gives me confidence that the Snainoci are a friendly race and that this can be a good first contact.

Despite however what I think I have placed complete control of the away team in Commander Azernal's hands. As the 'on-the-ground' leader I have left it up to him to make the decision on whether or not to proceed. This of course means that I am forced to simply wait and see how it all unfolds.

I am an impatient man attempting very hard to be patient.]

Captain's Log

Stardate 21111.20

Commander Ryan Cooper Recording

[Let me start this log by simply saying that at the moment we have far more questions than we do answers.

One question is 'what is wrong with our away team'. I am hopeful that this question will be answered by our medical department, more specifically Doctor Johan Schwicker. At the moment the away team is docked in our shuttle bay all suffering from extreme fatigue and tiredness.

Preliminary reports are indicating that each member of the team which spent extended time on the planet began to suffer staying awake. Luckily the team was already making plans on returning to the Pegasus and therefore were able to quickly enter the shuttle and return to Pegasus.

Another question needing answering is exactly what is this sensor net made of and who are receiving the results of it. The probe we launched has suffered from a power overload and is currently dead in space. I am, at the moment, postponing retrieving it.

I have asked Doctor Schwicker and Commander Azernal to both report to my ready room before going to sickbay.

I want Azernal here for obvious reasons. I am very interested in his take on the away mission. There is, in my opinion, only so much that you can get from reading log entries.

In addition to wanting an update from Azernal I also want to deliver some news I have been sitting on for a few weeks now. Before entering the Dalmatia System my Captain's Eyes Only report indicated that Bajor was to be accepted into the Federation within a months time. That information was deemed classified until today's stardate. I am looking forward to delivering the happy news to a man who grew up on Bajor.

My reasons for asking Schwicker here are also multi-facet. Primarily I want his initial take on the fatigue the away team are experiencing. According to our sensor data there in nothing in the Weyden atmosphere that should be causing it. I know the doctor has not been able to run any advance tests yet but his personnel file indicates he is a bit of a genius and he therefore might have a hypothesis.

The second reason for asking Schwicker here is that I plan on naming him the Acting Chief Medical Officer in Doctor Macleod's absence. This decision was actually quite simple. Not only is Doctor Drake ill and therefore off-duty and not able to run sickbay but Doctor Schwicker had training in not only medicine but also science and engineering. Additionally Johan has served as a Department Head in the past and came with some of the best letters of recommendation I have ever read from including one from Captain Ristone the previous Pegasus CO. There is therefore little doubt in my mind that Schwicker can fill in for a few days until Macleod returns.

I am told that a return trip was scheduled to Weyden for tomorrow. I am hopeful that this will still be possible. It will of course largely hinge on the status of the away team. After all, the safety of the crew is a top priority.

[I am happy to say that our second away team, made up of the same members of the first team, have once again landed on the planet.

The decision to send another team, even one made up of the original team, to the planet was not easy. Our medical staff has still not been able to determine what caused the fatigue that the away team suffered. Each member of the away team however, after a full nights rest, have woken up full of energy and a desire to fulfill the objective of the Federation - exploration of new cultures.

As a rational man I realize that something external must have caused the drowsiness of the away team. However sickbay has been unable to say what or why. Could it therefore be something as simple as the fact that none of the away team members have been on an alien planet in some time, except for Crawford. The fatigue might be simple enough to explain for that reason. That is one of the main reasons I decided to keep the original team intact for the second mission. Perhaps they are now better adapted to the planet or at the very least will recognize the fatigue symptoms sooner than others would.

Another reason I sent the original team was the fact that they made the initial contact. I want Nevins, and other other aliens, to see some consistency from our crew.

Back on Pegasus I have ok'ed Ensign Phoenix to begin preparations to retrieve the stranded probe. His plan is to beam the probe inside a shuttle in the shuttle bay behind a forcefield and then to use the shuttle's computer to decode the research. While this is probably an overkill of safety it is one I am supporting. We certainly cannot afford for the computer to crash again especially considering what Commander DeWitt just brought to my attention.

DeWitt, our Chief Tactical Officer, has just informed me that a meteorite is on a collision course not only with Weyden but currently Pegasus as well. I am attempting to remain objective but I have never been a fan of coincidences.

At the moment we are awaiting analysis on the meteorite to see what the best course of action is. I am tempted of course to simply try and tractor the meteorite out of the planet's ways. Another option is to destroy it. A third option, depending on what type of damage it would do, is simply let it hit the planet and not interfere. One thing I can say for certain, Pegasus will be moving out of the way of the meteorite.

We have run as many tests and scenarios as possible and we have seemingly come to the same conclusion every single time. If that asteroid hits the planet there will be a total loss of life on Weyden within a years time frame. This cannot be allowed to happen. I have therefore moved the Pegasus into position and have ordered the destruction of the asteroid. Our torpedoes hold more than enough yield to to ensure the asteroid's pieces either miss the planet or are small enough to burn up in the atmosphere.

A lot has happened since my previous log entry. I do not have the proper time to give full details so I will be as brief as possible.

Pegasus was able to destroy the asteroid and save Weyden from destruction.

Commander Azernal, through the use of impressive technology from Weyden, was able to determine that Bajor has been destroyed by persons unknown. Unfortunately Commander Azernal, and other members of the away team, have been infected by a brain bug that caused them to mutiny. I was unexpectantly attacked and knocked unconscious for a period of time that allowed Commander Azernal to set up control on the bridge.

After regaining consciousness and freeing myself from restraints I discovered that the brain bugs were implanted by members of the government on Weyden. Luckily I also discovered enough information to pass on to Lieutenant Schwicker that he was able to create a solution to the problem.

We are now only minutes away from attempting to retake the bridge from Commander Azernal and the others.

[First Officer's log Stardate 21109.09

Commander Azernal Rin recording...

Our mission promises to be very interesting this time around. We were tasked with exploring the giant Dalmatia system. It has been known to exist for quite some time, but with all the upheaval they haven't really had a chance to explore much of it. We were given that chance. There is a fleet of ships with us, all with certain planets assigned to check out.

The system itself is rather odd. There are 101 planets orbiting a red super giant - an anomaly on many levels.

To complicate matters, our CO Ristone was reassigned and we got a new, fresh CO: Cooper. The six week journey was an interesting balance between getting to know the new CO and keeping the crew sharp. The man is prone to mood swings - not something I have ever had to deal with in previous Captains. Learning how and when to approach him is a skill I must develop quickly.

The USS Pegasus was assigned to the planet Weyden. It is only a few hours in from the edge of the system. When we arrived we were scanned by some high powered net. We attempted to open communication with the planet, but they don't appear to have forms of communication we can recognize.

So, the Captain decided an away team needed to head down to the planet to open communication. Some of the crew think this violates the Prime Directive since they haven't been proven to be warp-capable, but really it is left up to the Captain. Additionally, there has been a Commodore assigned as Science Advisor who was on the Bridge when the order was given - if someone was going to step up and say stop, it would his call.

So, I picked my team. I had a personal desire to bring along the CE, Scott. He has an interesting mouth on him that could...hell, will lead us into trouble, but his enthusiasm and ability to deal with emergencies without panicking outweighs that in my opinion.

We are about to depart - hope it goes smoothly. I will record a log entry as soon as the assault is finished.

Personal log, stardate 21107.20, Lieutenant Commander Douglas Scott recording:

I hae tae say that that was one hell of a mission briefing. The flottilla of tae some place called the Dalmatia system and I dinnae think I will be wrong in saying we hae some reet interesting times ahead of us. That's a curse in some part's:

'May you live in interesting times!'

But I'm inclined tae think it's more of a matter of perspective and from where I'm standing this trip is likely tae bloody exciting and noo mistake! But then again I never could resist boldly going where no sane bugger has gone before. Mind you I cannae say we're entering entirely unknown territory but it is on the far edges of explored space. About 190 light years from Earth tae be exact and hidden in a nebula which lies just outside Cardassian Space with the Breen to the north and the Tholians to the south. Just a few years ago a task force discovered at least one-hundred-and-one planets orbiting a red super giant. They did a little exploration but were recalled. Now we're going in tae finish the job. The Pegasus has been assigned to investigate an M class planet called Weyden.

In my humble ••••••• opinion there's more tae this than meets the eye. So far as I ken the astronomy there shouldn't be any M class worlds in the system. Because they must be within a certain orbit in the first place any habitable worlds would hae been consumed by Dalmatia's star when it expanded tae become a red super giant. As I told everyone at the briefing that means that at best it has been terraformed, or at worst some clever bastards either moved it from the inner orbit before the star expanded or from another system!

Exciting stuff tae be sure.

It seems to point towards some high tech interference at some point. Of course these folk could hae scarpered long ago... but they might not have done! So the short and the long of it is we're boldly going tae poke around in true Starfleet fashion. Which is what the Fleet is all aboot! Wish us luck! I've a feeling in mae balls that we might need all we can ••••••• get!

End log.]

Stardate 21111.23

Personal log, supplemental, Lieutenant Commander Douglas Scott recording:

[I suppose I should say in advance that I'm doing this mainly tae stay awake. I'm ••••••• knackered for some reason I dinnae ken so I might be making even less sense than usual... but never mind that... I'm getting reet ahead of mesel.

Best to start at the beginning I guess. As I have said already our First Officer young Azernal had offered me the opportunity tae join him on an away mission to explore the planet Weydon. It was a no brainer really and I jumped at the chance. Tae be honest with you an engineer does nae usually get many chances like this. As a cadet his was the kind of thing I hae joined Starfleet to do. I've never really shook that off, tae boldly go and all that shite, so I was excited as hell.

We landed by shuttle for some reason which I dinnae ken. I guess 'those in charge' thought it might be more diplomatic that way, or maybe they just thought it best to keep our transporter tech to ourselves for noo. I didnae think tae ask young Az at the time, which was daft of me, but then again I hae never claimed to be perfect. The shuttle slight was smooth enough, it as later on that everything went down the crapper, and we soon landed near a small settlement. Scan said there were aboot one hundred and fifty natives living there so it seemed a good enough place tae start.

Someone ran a few tests, I think it was that pretty CSO of ours Judith Tucker, and we cracked open the shuttle and went for a little walk in the country. I hae tae say that it was a remarkably earth like planet, once you got past the differences that is, and the local wildlife seemed harmless enough. A small horse like creature followed us along the way in fact. We made our way towards the settlement, it was a pleasant stroll and soon over. We crested a hill and there it was. The place seemed normal enough, if you can call an alien settlement normal, but I was curious enough to give it a quick scan with my tricorder.

•••• me did I get a surprise!

Power readings were off the scale, aboot a thousand times what I would hae expected for a village that size. What looked like a wall was more like a holoprojector combined with a force field. The bloody thing went up several cliks for a few kilometers before seeming to diminish rapidly... but I'm guessing that was because it was a dome. The wooden wall and buildings we could see didn't scan as wood. I got a thirty two percent match to Duranium; but the readings were lousy so I cant say for sure what it was.

The field wasn't impervious, there seemed to be several gates, set at equal intervals around the perimeter. One of which opened and a group of five natives came oot tae meet us. Our friendly horse buggered off straight away, clearly spooked, which struck a bad not with me. But despite this, and the odd readings, Az decided we would walk doon the hill and tae meet the natives. I cant blame him for that; I myself was so far beyond curious by then that it didn't occur to me not tae go. I remember being very excited by the prospect of meeting the natives and seeing all that alien tech first hand.

Az handled the first contact and one of the natives introduced himself as the 'Under secretary of External Affairs'. I remember that he said his people were called the Snainoci and that his name was Nevins. He introduced his escorts as well, but they didn't say much throughout and I cannae remember their names.

Thinking back, unless they made up the title on the spot, it seems odd that Nevins was at that particular village to greet us. And now that I think on it that title more or less implies they have had visitors before doesn't it? Which is another thing tae talk to Az aboot I guess. Nevins invited us in for dinner. He was very insistent and seemed particularly concerned that we should enter his settlement before night fall. I remember that he said although his were a very peaceful people it wasn't safe to be outside at night. It struck me at the time that a peaceful people don’t generally develop such sophisticated defences; its a waste of time and effort if no bugger is trying tae hurt you.

And then there was that horse like thing which buggered off as soon as the gate started opening.

We asked if we could move the shuttle nearer the settlement as its pilot Lieutenant Ouze was out there on his own. Nevin's was happy to help and insisted that one of his men provided the coordinates, not that we needed them, but it seemed smart not tae upset anyone. In fact it seemed the quicker Nevins could get all of us inside the better. I have tae admit that by then I was getting more than a little wary of the situation. Az was clearly spooked as well and so was our COS Tyra... Nevins seemed to know more aboot us than he had a right tae. And I •••• you not... if Tyra Crawford is worried about something the rest of us would do well tae start bloody running.

Az decided tae put it off tae tomorrow, and although I was excited about seeing the inside of the settlement, I could nae blame him. There was just too much dodgy shite going doon. It was then that things got even stranger. I started feeling tired... there was no good reason for it... and I wasn't they only bloody one. I remember we were just about to leave and suddenly I felt like I hadn't slept for a week. And I wasn't the only one... Tyra Bloody Crawford, who is the closest thing tae a super hero that I hae ever bloody met, was looking tired as well. So did everyone else. I remember thinking that everything was ••••••• wrong and trying tae tell the team. Somewhere along the line I bloody feinted.

That's something that's going tae get me a mention in bloody dispatches isn't it? Bold Lieutenant Commander Douglas bravely feinted dead away. What bollocks! My engineers are going tae bloody crucify me for that.

My warning must hae got through tae someone though because when I woke up I was aboard the shuttle it was already landing back aboard the Peg. It turned out that it was a good thing that Ouze was nae with us as he did nae seem tae be so badly effected and was able to fly us home. The medical people met us on arrival and couldn't find anything wrong except for a general tiredness. So we made our way up here to sick bay.

Which brings me full circle, as I am so bloody tired that I'm recording this log and drinking strong coffee to stay awake. The Docs still cannae find anything wrong... but I expect they will. This definitely is nae ••••••• reet and I'm pretty sure that smooth tongued bastard Nevins and his people are bloody behind it. There’s nothing more to add really except I expect I will be sleeping soon and I damn well shouldn’t be... but I find I'm too bloody tired to care any more.

Stardate 21112.07

[Stardate 211112.07 Engineering Ensign Matthew Phoenix recording.

The camera snapped on to reveal a tired human wearing a black tee shirt with the arms sleeves ripped off.

Ttam here kiddo’s. Not ever sure who sees these but keeping with my new resolve to be a better officer I am doing my duties to record my thoughts and the day.

Ok here the truth though my duty today was on the bridge. While on the bridge we arrived in the Dalmation system to planet Weyden. Since we have arrived our ship was scanned and somehow that scan made our systems go haywire and even managed to loose gravity controls for a bit. I had narrowed down a power source for the sensor net. This net seems to be more than just a scanning system it also seems like some sort of defense systems. Or perhaps maybe something else.

After our sensors were shut done, by this sensor net, we launched probes so we were not flying blind. Once we launched these probes one I set for just over the northern pole which I am sure the central processing point for this net. The northern probe was hit by another energy surge that forced the probe to shut down. As it shut down it gave me a sense of some hidden possibilities that it had found.

I came up with an idea on how to safely retrieve the probe but the commanding officer while the Commander and First Officer were a way failed to properly convey the idea I had. I think on my bridge shift tomorrow I will bring this up to the Captain. This whole mission has been strange and chuck full of mystery but I can’t help but get the feeling there is more than we are seeing here.

Well I am tired and I need to head in. End log.]

CTO Lt Kyle DeWitt

Stardate 21110.08

Chief Tactical Officer's Log Stardate 21110.08 Lieutenant Commander Kyle DeWitt recording:

[I know Starfleet is all about exploring the unknown, but at this point I feel like we should be leaving that to the actual science ships. I can't stand the thought of sitting on my hands feeling useless. Though everything's changed since we left Delta. We lost Commander Ristone due to a promotion with Starfleet Security, and received Ryan Cooper. Since day one we've had a rocky start to say the least.

During our first mission briefing we learned of our destination, Weyden. Unlike our previous mission the flotilla ships each had their own assignments which gave me an odd feeling. I just didn't like how we were being sent to near enemy territories. Granted we're supposed to be at peace, I know people like the Cardassians like to play with their own rule book. My recommendation to have a defensive posture was overruled, hopefully our new Commanding Officer made the right decision.

On a good note, Ensign Ch'alev's promotion orders came in underway. I had a feeling it was strange for an officer of his dedication would be transferred from a Battle Cruiser down without any sort of advancement. We settled it all out to give him the right he earned to wear junior Lieutenant pips. Coincidently I handed him the pips I wore before Admiral Grayson promoted me, in a similiar fashion. I hope, they serve him well as the Admiral's did me.

In orbit of Weyden we were scanned by an unknown observer. Detailed histories of each crewmember, alongside all of our ship's schematics, had been accessed and presumably downloaded. With the other Senior Officer not onboard, I have once again strongly recommended a defense posture. I seem to have finally broken in Cooper, somewhat, as he met me halfway and raised the shields facing the planet. If it were up to me, I'd show we were a formidable force and that it would be in whoever's best intrest that we be an ally, not someone you'd want to provoke. Only time will tell now.

Stardate 21112.01

Chief Tactical Officer's Log Stardate 21112.01 Lieutenant Commander Kyle DeWitt recording:

[I'd have to say since our arrival at Weyden everything seems to have become interesting. Somehow, someone, was able to damage our sensors. As we began to focus our scans on the sensor net and the planet's northern pole I don't know exactly what happened. Though from what I was able to piece together, after reports came in, that whoever is on the opposite end sent a sensor overload our way.

As the Away Team returned the ailment they returned with didn't make any sense. Apparently they suffered from what could be called sleep depression. I've only got one question. How is that even possible? With most of them being senior officers I know our work can be stressful, but I'm pretty sure they've reached the point of being able to juggle all our sleep and work together. Hopefully, Doctor Schwicker can determine what the cause was considering I can't dual specialize anymore.

I had a small run-in with Ensign Phoenix as well. With his recommendation to recover one of our disabled probes via a shuttle, I didn't feel it was worth the risk to even have it in the vicinity of the ship. Following my relayed request to Commander Cooper to actually take a shuttle out and recover it, Mister Phoenix tried to argue his point. I know my call on it was the best decision, but somehow it still bothers me because I know how I'd feel if the situations had been reversed.

Commander Cooper denied the request and we just planned on finishing the shift. Filling in Commander Nuzzia after he arrived on the Bridge, I was glad for the day to be over with. What is tomorrow going to deal us. Even though it sound unscientific, I can't wait for us to be out of the Dalmatia system and back into open space.

I attempted to send a message back to Starbase Delta. When I last saw Bria she tried to focus on where I was born, the country. I think she knew I wasn't responding to well to the push, and I'm pretty sure I unintentionally hurt her. Since we were shipped out pretty quickly, I haven't had a chance to actually say anything to her since that unfaithful night. I'm not sure if us being so far in the Dalmatia system is affecting our ability to communicate with base, or something else is happening, so I'll be glad the moment we're back.]

Stardate 21201.22

Chief Tactical Officer's Log Stardate 21201.22 Lieutenant Commander Kyle DeWitt recording:

[It's been a rough time during our mission to the Dalmatia system, mainly the planet Weyden. I have to say this was one time I'm glad I didn't participate in the away mission. I don't know what was on the surface, but a microorganism found it's way into the Away Team. It left them susceptible to forms of suggestions, something that proved to be dangerous for those of us on the Pegasus.

I know people are going to say I don't personally like Commander Azernal, and they'd be right. That being said it doesn't matter if you like your superior or not. Whenever they returned to the ship, well I don't know how to exactly put it without making it sound prejudice. It was gut feeling I had that something was wrong, and I didn't like the fact he and Scott were alone with the captain. I had to prove, somehow, that what I believed was right. The only problem was I didn't know who to trust at the moment.

I might have jumped the gun whenever I felt like I needed some kind of protection. It wasn't the best decision to discreetly armed myself, but when your under the impression that something's possible compromised a good handful of the Senior Officers you don't know who will back you up, or their own Department Head. I made it to Sickbay without any hindrance, but there once of the Medical crewman seemed to know I had armed myself for defensive purposes.

Naturally the Brig was my next, unfortunate, destination. It wasn't the best of trips, but I can't say I hadn't expected it especially if my gut feeling turned out to be far from what I thought was the truth. When Tyra dropped by she asked what I can only assume happened to be the standard questions. I knew she wasn't going to pay any attention to what I was saying, considering if they had been affected by some form of telepathy she wouldn't want me to spread it to anyone else onboard.

Luckily, I didn't keep any time on how long I was left in that cell. With the thought of imminent danger, I couldn't stand being restrained from doing anything that might help. Commander Cooper finally managed to show up, but he seemed to be pressed for time. At first I figured he was going to condemn me for the actions I took and the gut feeling I had, but in the end he released me from my isolation.

Without our personal command codes we were forced to meet what little assistance we had to retake the ship. Luckily, our Acting Chief Medical Officer managed to find an antidote to neutralize whatever was affecting our people. Time was short and we had to assume control of the Bridge fast.

I'd never seen the planning techniques of Ryan Cooper before, but I'm glad they helped us complete our objective, unfortunately everything didn't go according to plan. While we were successful in injecting most of the Away Team, Mister Edwards remained uncured as he killed Tyler Lawson, who was the one supposed to target Edwards. He was probably eager for bloodshed as he had the phaser he was using on the kill setting. In an attempt to finish the mission, Cooper took it upon himself to personally see it through. He struggled with Edwards for what felt like hours.

I don't know he got himself a hold of Edward's phaser, but before I knew anything Azernal had shot another lethal phaser blast across the Bridge. While one could hope our cure had already taken affect and he wasn't aiming for Cooper is clearly open for discussion, but I don't think I'm objective enough to come to a fair conclusion. Regardless of how one puts the facts together, it was our First Officer that had the phaser, initiated a phaser shot, and hit the Commanding Officer.

When the dust settled, we all tried to piece together what the information we were receiving through a Starfleet data packet. We were in the position of my first space assignment, Space Station Sierra 18, but there was nothing. The station had been destroyed, by an unknown hostile force. A ship was detected on our scanners and we prepared to defend ourselves. With an incoming hail it was obvious that we had to answer, or risk being attacked ourselves. Luckily for all of us the ship was Federation in origin, the USS Chin'toka with Captain Nicholas Ristone in the center seat.

Commodore Dramar, who seemed to miss all of the action, arrived on scene and took command of the Pegasus. Must be nice to be a flag officer I guess. He relieved all of the members of the Away Team and confined them to medical isolation. I hope this doesn't mean the end of their careers. We're on a return course to Star Base Delta were all the questions will undoubtedly be answered. I hope someway we can end this on a good note, then again we don't know what the future has in store for us.

Lt JG Keval Ch'alev

Stardate 21201.21

[Personal Log, Stardate 21201.21, Lieutenant Junior Grade Keval Ch'alev recording.

What a frantic first mission I have had on the Pegasus. I am still spinning from it now as I record this log.

At one stage I wasn't even sure what side to be on when the away team questioned the motives of our Captain. In all the excitement and confusion the Captain ended up getting shot and killed by the First Officer. I can not go into the reason why at this time. Just in case there is an inquiry into what happened.

Otherwise the crew seem good people. I am looking forward to getting to know a few officers better in the down time at Star Base Delta.

I also think we will be trying to decide on what to do about this invasion that seems to have destroyed Bajor and Sierra-18 will be the focus of myself and my fellow crew mates while at Delta I expect.

I think I get on well with my Department Head and fellow tactical officers but I haven't had much chance to talk to them off duty. Maybe get to do some of that while we are on shore leave.

Thinking about it I must contact my family to see if they are fine, I don't know how Commander Azernal is feeling at the moment. With his home planet and family gone, he must feel lonely. I don't know what that would do to me. I hope it never comes to that situation.

Once we are back at Delta I guess we will have more information.

End Log.]

COS Cdr Tyra Crawford

Stardate 21107.13

[Chief of Security's Log Stardate 21107.13 Commander Tyra Crawford recording:

As usual, shore leave ended far sooner than I'd like and I find myself back on the Pegasus. Unlike normal though, I'm not excited to be back and on-duty, which makes me think that Carraya changed a lot more than I'd initially thought. I don't know if I made the right decision by not taking more time to recover mentally, but I think this mission will tell a lot.

Rumor has it that we're being sent to Starbase Bravo, which should give me plenty of time to adjust to the changes that have occurred, although I'd prefer not to be going so far from home. My department suffered so many losses at Carraya that I'm pretty much dealing with a clean slate, and a lot of new officers to evaluate and train to our level of performance. I'll have a busy trip to Bravo, but it's better than staring at the wall in my office for a few weeks.

All the signs seem to point to this being a scientific mission, which is a good and bad thing. Good because it offers the smallest possibility of a repeat of Carraya but bad because it will leave a lot of time for my department to become restless. Time is our biggest enemy some times, and it seems to stretch out during science missions.

We'll know for sure when we reach Bravo.

Supplemental

Personal Log - Supplemental

While borrowing a shuttle and running off to Earth might not have been the best idea I've ever taken part of, I think it managed to accomplish what I needed it to. Being around family and friends definitely helped me push Carraya to the back of my mind.

That's not to say it doesn't bother me. While we were on Earth, I did see a counselor, twice. I don't think it actually helped—it's nothing I haven't heard before—but apparently, it's frowned upon to deal with major traumas on your own. Who would have thought?

I did seriously consider not returning to duty, not putting myself in a position to watch more people die, but really, it wouldn't change anything except I wouldn't be in a position to do anything about it. Pompous asses somewhere would still be making decisions with no regard for the lives they're putting at risk, and we'd still be nothing more than a number on a report.

However, I do have some faith that Carraya won't repeat itself, not here at least. I don't know, and frankly, don't care whether Derrick knew what he was sending us into, but I trust that Thomas will be more careful.

Stardate 21107.25

[Chief of Security's Log Stardate 21107.25 Commander Tyra Crawford recording:

We've reached Bravo, which apparently isn't our end destination. We're being sent, along with a group of ships to the Dalmatia system to explore planets in the area that have been previously left alone. We'll be looking at a planet called Weyden.

It's another 3 week journey, which will really test my department's patience. We've done all our training, evaluations and re-certifications, which means I guess more training and some research.

Maybe we'll start getting a little creative with our scenarios, although Kata was far better at that than Adrianna and I. I wouldn't mind having my ACOS back—she'd be good with morale right now—but she's in a good position, where she needs to be.

As the mission has been explained so far, my department will basically be babysitters for science. Admittedly, I can't foresee many people volunteering to watch science officers oh and aw over plants but if I don't have to fill out a report about discharging my weapon, I'll be happy.

The one interesting aspect I do have to consider is that the Dalmatia system is close to Cardassian space, and they're not a species I'm particularly trusting of. However, when Kyle mentioned that concern in the briefing, our new CO, Commander Cooper, treated it as if it was a wildly paranoid impossibility.

I'll be honest Cooper hasn't impressed me at all, so far. Nick was a good CO, and an even better security officer. Our backgrounds were similar, and I was generally fairly certain that he'd see things similar to how I would. Cooper, on the other hand, was on a star base too long and probably not on a ship long enough.

There's no harm in acknowledging a potential problem and being prepared to deal with it—I'm not sure he will make the right calls and I don’t trust him to listen to me during a security crisis. It's generally better to be safe and not sorry. I have midshipman that seem to have better instincts, and if his trusting naivety gets someone killed, it's all on him.

Then again, maybe I've gotten far too use to having COs that either think like me or listen to me.

Regardless, I'll be prepared for a threat from the Cardassians, even if there is no way they would possibly feel the need to be anything short of their friendly selves—we all know that Cardassian hospitality is as welcoming as Southern hospitality, right?

End Log]

Stardate 21109.15

[Chief of Security's Log Stardate 21109.15 Commander Tyra Crawford recording:

After about 6 weeks, we've finally reached our end destination.

It was a bit of trying journey. Security was twiddling their thumbs except for training and the occasional unannounced drill. I prefer to know about drills beforehand but even I was okay with having something to do. We even had officers fighting over who would answer the next domestic call, which is generally the call everyone whines about having to deal with.

However, we did devise a set of strategies to deal with potential Cardassian threats, and were able to deal with some personnel problems. We, also, had to become creative in dealing with morale and meetings. Our staff meetings evolved into weekly poker games because none of us wanted to sit in the office and recite the same thing we had the week before, and we created different events to try to cohesively blend the old members of the department with the new—I can't play darts well, apparently, but I can beat most of my people at pool.

Now that we're at our destination, the "fun" begins. Apparently, we encountered a sensor net that scanned us, but have been unable to make contact with any natives of Weyden, which has prompted Cooper to order Commander Azernal to take a team to the surface.

He contacted me about providing two officers for the mission. I could convince neither Adrianna nor Will to take the lead spot, so I'm getting the joy of babysitting a diplomatic team. After the Gondwanan disaster, I can think of a few things I'd prefer to be doing—my experience with diplomatic missions hasn't been positive so far.

I also had to settle for taking Edwards with me. Normally, I would take Jason or Sothrick with me, but Jason has the flu and Sothrick was temporarily reassigned as the Acting Chief of Security for the Sheridan. While I'd love to have Sothrick back when his assignment is done, I hope that he does a good enough job that he can have the position permanently. He's a promising young man, who will make a good COS, whether now or in the future.

My problem with taking Edwards is that he's very nervous and far too eager to please. Admittedly, this will probably just be a routine mission, and his nervousness won't be a problem, but if something goes wrong, he might not be my first choice of back-up in a fire fight. Then again, I'd also prefer 3 or 4 escorts to just Edwards and I, especially with how little we know.

Hopefully, Edwards and I won't have anything to truly worry about, but I'm bringing the gear to handle a small crisis.

I guess I'll see in the next hour how I'll be spending my time with the away team.

End Log]

Stardate 21111.28

[Chief of Security's Log Stardate 21111.28 Commander Tyra Crawford recording:

Things haven't gone as planned so far on this mission...

The away team didn't stay on Weyden for long, which is probably a very good thing. The planet itself seems very hospitable, and the natives very friendly, almost too friendly and accommodating. Neither Azernal nor myself felt it was prudent to enter their isolated city, where we would be unable to contact the vessel nor would we be able to arm ourselves.

It was a good call, especially since we all became extremely tired moments after making the decision.

Speaking of that tiredness, I don't think I even felt that rugged after Carraya. It didn't feel natural, and it certainly happened far too quickly for my likings. However, the medical team has been unable to find a cause for the ailment and after sleeping, I feel fairly normal. Although I did have some strange dreams and I felt nearly guilty about declining the Snainoci's offer upon waking up.

As soon as we're cleared by Sickbay or the captain, we'll be returning to the surface to mingle with the locals. I'm actually excited about the opportunity—it's rare that we get to peacefully encounter a new culture. However, I still am not entirely trusting of them, but I think that this meeting should clear up those concerns.

Hopefully, it goes well!

Medical

ACMO Lt JG Johan Schwicker

Stardate 21110.02

USS Pegasus, Medical log, Stardate 21110.2.

Doctor Schwicker in for Chief Medical Officer Macleod, Entry 1: (autocorrect enabled)

Chief Medical Officer Macleod is away and this seems to be the cause of her reassigning me to our primary sickbay.

At first appearance, this Sickbay needs a lot work. At second appearance—it still needs a lot of work.

Already an apparent lack of communication has put the lives of several crewmembers at greater risk, particularly two Andorians: Science Officer Lieutenant Lysia Parrin, and Tactical Officer Keval Ch’alev. Rather than being appraised of the situation by Science or Tactical, a few ailing crewmembers, and an officer, stumbled into Sickbay on their own initiative thus generating our awareness of a minor emergency taking place aboard the ship, that of a temporary loss of artificially generated gravity on a few decks, including Science and the Bridge where the two Andorians were stationed.

We treated a few minor ailments in Sickbay with simple application of basic antiemetics. Positive effects of the chemicals administered should last for the following 24 hours in the case of a repeated loss of gravity, with the exception of two special cases:

(1) Science Officer Lieutenant Lysia Parrin appeared to suffer a moderate case of kinetosis as the result of an unexpected, temporary loss of artificially generated gravity. Symptoms included strong nausea bordering on emesis. A single, moderate dose of antiemetics delivered intra-muscularly via hypo alleviated the symptoms of the kinetosis for the following 24 hours. A follow-up examination will be required to ensure her Andorian physiology has returned to its normal state, or sooner upon her own return to Sickbay if and whenever necessary before 24 hours or in the event of a repeated loss of gravity.

(2) Tactical Officer Keval Ch’alev, stationed on the Bridge, appeared to suffer a severe case of kinetosis culminating in syncope. Symptons included a prodromal state of dizziness and temporary vision loss because of resultant hypotension and cerebral hypoxia. Nurse Cameron applied a hypothermic wrap set to warm up the chest cavity to the patient. A first attempt to administer an antiemetic and analeptic combo intravenously resulted in failure. A second attempt to administer the chemicals, this time intra-muscularly, resulted in moderate revival. A 24-hour biofeedback monitor of the patient was effected via remote extrasensory device. A secondary ailment included impact trauma to the forehead, because of a rapid and uncontrolled descent of the forehead culminating in an equally rapid but firmly controlled cessation of said descent upon impact with an immovable workstation console. Symptoms included mild contusion and cephalalgia. A follow-up examination will be required to encourage his Andorian physiology to return to its normal state, or sooner upon request for medical assistance if and whenever necessary before 24 hours or in the event of a repeated loss of gravity.

Without Macleod present, the Sickbay is already falling apart. Oddly, what troubles me more is whatever is to become of the auxiliary facility. It seems to have become my ‘home’ away from home. Now it has become more of a ‘cottage’ retreat.

In either case, there is a lot of work yet to do in this department, in this ship.]

[USS Pegasus, Personal log, Stardate 21111.26.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Schwicker, Entry 2: (autocorrect enabled)

Yes, that is right, I am now appointed Acting Chief Medical Officer, U.S.S. Pegasus. However, I have not yet had an opportunity to revel in the glory, as it were. The Captain appointed me during Yellow Alert status and, it seems, it was because of necessity more than deserved commendation—Doctor Macloed is still away and a medical emergency, of sorts, exists.

An entire away team seems to be suffering fatigue to the point of exhaustion, but with no immediately discernable cause other than overexertion, which seems unlikely as the First Officer’s report, and other reports, described a relatively peaceful away mission. Nevertheless, the team suffers.

I have been able to rule out known environmental causes and effects, and am, therefore, forced to consider possible unknown medical or psychological causes and effects. This may be unfortunate for the members of the away team, as it will require a more methodical, scientific approach; that is, detailed examination of tissues and organs including the brain. It has been some time since I last squeezed such soft membranes between my fingers.

Having started with rats, I must now work my way up to samples of my helplessly sleeping peers.

Oddly, I would not have hesitated to act even if it meant the sacrifice of one or two for the preservation of the remainder, but now that I have been appointed Acting Chief Medical Officer I almost fancy the elite officers kin to me. Choosing one or two for further experimentation will be more difficult than I had previously imagined because of my growing affinity toward each of them. I almost wonder if it would be possible to preserve them all intact.

Nevertheless, medical advancement is dependant upon risk and sacrifice and, besides, all of them are asleep and they will probably feel nothing—

As long as they sleep.]

[USS Pegasus, Personal log, Stardate 21201.16.

Acting Chief Medical Officer Schwicker, Entry 2: (autocorrect enabled)

We found the cure!

That is the good news.

Captain Cooper hatched a plan to administer the antidote to the infected members of the away team, also good news. It was a masterful plan, well thought out. A little too rushed, in my opinion, however. But the Captain gave his life for it. He was a good Captain—he left me alone.

I wrote a poem to remember him by. It rolls well, better in Klingonaise:

Goodbye! 'Thee' Captain,

Soul’s feet on his way.

Behind him: his strife

Than ours more often.

But gave peace this day,

Left our hearts with life.

I understand he had a difficult life, full of more trouble, more pain than most others. I admire that. And, the one time that I worked along with him—my heart was never more alive than then.

Perhaps I will utter my poem with all the feeling it deserves at the Captain’s memorial service, if there will even be one. I am afraid, somehow, that sudden news of death and mass destruction upon our return to Federation space has overshadowed our own personal loss.

We are invaded.]

Lt Emilia Cirrus

Stardate 21201.21

[Medical Officer’s Log Stardate 21201.21. Lieutenant Emilia Cirrus recording –

I would say that this mission has been horrible, but I don’t really feel that way. Yes, the consequences are horrible, but while it was happening I quite enjoyed myself. That’s possibly because I had a parasite influencing my brain, but let me start at the beginning.

We arrived at a planet called Weyden in order to investigate reports of a sentient species on the surface. To my surprise, I was assigned to go on the away team. I suspect that this was Laura’s doing since I’m training to be a nurse practitioner. She probably wanted me to have the experience.

Apparently the ship had been contacted and electronically invaded by the sentient species, so we had no issue with the Prime Directive. I went on the away team lead by Commander Azernal. My role was to both monitor the away team and to find out medical information about the species we were making First Contact with. I also tacked on looking out for any pathogens or other biologics that could harm the crew. Obviously I failed.

We made first contact with a group of the species, called the Snainoci, outside of their city. They seemed friendly, but they said we could only enter their city if we gave up our weapons. None of us were prepared to do that. Then, we all got caught up in a wave of exhaustion like I’ve never felt before – well, except perhaps during labor with Gabe. We were able to negotiate a meeting with the Snainoci for the next day, so we quickly returned to the ship to combat the exhaustion. Initially, no one could figure out what had caused it.

The same away team returned to the surface the next day. We arrived to find a carnival laid out for us with tents full of different events. I went straight for the Wildlife Tent. The day before I had seen a miniature horse running around in the woods, and it was so cute that I had to see more! They had these adorable mini orange pigs, and bunny-like creatures called babbities that could jump four feet in the air! I wanted to bring a purple one to the ship for Gabe and the other children, but I didn’t have time to ask for permission.

We were called back to the shuttle suddenly by Commander Azernal, who had found out through some kind of galactic viewing device that Bajor had been destroyed. He was panicking, and it’s no wonder – his whole family was there. We returned to the ship, and to make a long story short, the members of the away team started to mutiny against Commander Cooper. The main people involved were Azernal, Judith, and Crawford.

The away team had been infected by a brain parasite that made Azernal want to take over the ship and made the rest of us trust him implicitly. I, thankfully, had a very small role in this plot by the Snainoci. I did assist Azernal on the Bridge very briefly, but by the time I could do anything, the captain along with DeWitt, Schwicker and Scott (who had resisted the parasite) were taking the ship back.

During the scuffle on the Bridge, Commander Azernal shot and killed Commander Cooper. I will maintain officially that it was not something the First Officer would have been capable of except under the influence of the parasite, even with the devastating attack on Bajor! None of us were in complete control of ourselves with that parasite in there.

Before the away team was subdued, Azernal took us through a portal that got us within six days of Starbase Delta. When we returned to familiar space, we found out that the Federation had been attacked and Bajor was indeed gone. It’s all very shocking, and I still don’t completely understand what is going on.

Right now, the away team members are restricted to quarters though we’ve been told we will soon be allowed to certain areas of the ship so we can do our duty. There is an on-going investigation that will continue on Delta, but I’m not worried. Schwicker has a sample of the parasite; there is no doubt we were influenced. Everyone will be cleared.

I’m worried about Azernal, though. He’s just found out his planet and his family are dead, and he killed his Commanding Officer. I’m going to have to keep an eye on him.

End log.]

Science

4th Fleet Commander of Science, Cmdr Quillian Dramar

Stardate 021108.19

[COMSCI Log Star date 021108.19 Commodore Quillian Dramar Recording

We’ve just arrived at the Dalmatia super system after a six week journey. The journey was a quiet one, at least as far as know. I had hoped to get to know some of the Pegasus crew a bit better, but it seems that officers are even less inclined to speak with Commodores than they are with Captains. I suppose it would have helped if I’d had made myself a bit more available. There has been an absolute flood of reports coming out of R&D… so many papers to review and comment on. Though what did I expect?

Anyway, all that is on the back burner right now. The small fleet has broken up, each ship going off to explore as per their respective assignments. I’ve asked the CO’s to keep me abreast of their progress, but somehow I think reports will be few and far between; proof that what goes around comes around (chuckling).

The Pegasus has just arrived at Weyden. Where moving in to take a closer look. So far the… wait… what was that. We’ve just been scanned. I have to get to the bridge.
