The Aehiuan are a pre-industrial humanoid race inhabiting the planet Aehiuan IV in the Romulan Star Empire.
The Aehiuan live in cities and villages scattered throughout their mountainous world, and have developed a culture based mostly on hunting, farming and war.

  • A network of roads connects some of the more populated areas.

The Aehiuan are rather violent in nature, having killed several Romulan scientists sent to study them in the past.
The Romulan Science Institute has now gone to great lengths to conceal their activities on the planet, and scientists stationed there never leave their protected facility without a weapon.

The planet's star is unstable, and produces a form of radiation that is deadly to Romulans and other species.
The Aehiuan, however, as well as all native life on the planet, have a natural immunity to the radiation.

Note: This species is Federation Space made, and does not appear in any canon or beta-canon sources.

An Algolian musician
Algolian archaeologist

The Algolians are a humanoid species native to Algol (Beta Persei) in the Alpha Quadrant.

Their appearance is distinguished physically by golden leathery skin, with numerous small circular openings about the head, especially on their wide-set nostrils and atop their fluted head ridge. Their distinctions have been compared to those of the Klingon and Bolian species, though some Algolians have more muted head ridges.

The Algolians appearance is similar to the Promellians and Pardshay's species and together they likely represent a Humanoid species type.

Orton, an Arkarian male

The Arkarians are a humanoid race native to the planet Arkaria.

Their physical appearance is similar to that of Humans, with the exception of characteristic ridges on their foreheads.

They are formally allied with the Federation and jointly maintain the Remmler Array (a space station) and Arkaria Base (which controlled the station).

By 2369, the Arkarians began to trend towards a more egalitarian society, meaning they believe in the principle that all people are equal and deserve equal rights and opportunities.

The B'Saari are an intelligent spacefaring species, native to the planet B'Saari II.

They were the first sentient species with whom the Denobulans made contact with prior to the 15th century. Before this encounter, most Denobulans had believed themselves to be the only intelligent species in the galaxy. Some refused to believe otherwise even with evidence to the contrary standing before them.

The B'Saari have a technique for reviving the dead not unlike the procedure done in the Earth film Frankenstein, although the revived aren't capable of more than basic neural and metabolic functions. It is unclear what purpose this serves.

Gia, a young Barkonian female

The Barkonians are a pre-industrial society from Barkon IV. Barkonians are humanoid in appearance, with a distinctive patterned forehead.

In 2370, a Federation probe crash-landed on the planet, causing some Barkonians to suffer the effects of radiation poisoning. The Barkonians also had their first contact with alien life, when Lieutenant Commander Data was dispatched to retrieve and salvage the probe's components. Damaged by the probe, Data lost his memory, and spent several weeks living among the Barkonians.

Barkonian culture once took seriously demons, spirits and monsters, only two generations before adopting more scientific methodology by the 2370s.

  • One of their beliefs was that the basic elements of the universe were rock, fire, sky, and water.
They taught that these elements were found in every object, person, animal, or anything.
  • They also believed that another humanoid race, the ice-men, lived in the snow and ice of the Vellorian Mountains of their planet.

Towns were led by a town magistrate, who routinely met with the village elders.

Barkonians believed a nutritious diet was founded on meats, butter and cheese.

Bhavani, a Barzan female.

The Barzans are a humanoid species native to the planet Barzan II. They have light-copper to tannish skin, with some facial ridges and a hairline set far back from the forehead.

When leaving their homeworld, they have to wear a breathing device which provides them with the gases that are found in the atmosphere of Barzan II. The Barzan II atmosphere is toxic to many other humanoid species.

The Barzans were governed by the Barzanian Planetary Republic, which was headed by a premier.

The Barzans are a resource-poor species and only moderately technologically advanced.

When the Barzan wormhole was discovered in 2366, the lack of other resources was a major factor in the Barzans' decision to sell rights to the wormhole to the highest bidder.

Rionoj, a Boslic female

The Boslics are a neutral, spacefaring, humanoid specie who come from the planet Boslic.

They have been warp capable since at least the early 2150s.

This race has at least two distinct facial structures: some Boslics have smooth foreheads and brows, which brim slightly over their eyes, and meeting from both sides, together at the top of the nose. The second distinction is characterized by ridged foreheads, wrinkled noses, and creased cheek bones.

During the 2370s, Boslic freighters frequently visited Deep Space 9. In 2372, a Boslic freighter was involved in a contraband smuggling operation uncovered by Kurn, a Klingon working as a Bajoran security officer. During the same era, at least one Boslic served in Starfleet.

Sobi, a Brekkian male

Brekkians are a humanoid species native to the planet Brekka. They, like the Ornarans, possess the natural ability to generate electrical discharges with their bodies.

A century ago, the Brekkians helped the Ornarans survive a deadly plague, by supplying them with the medicine felicium, which is available only on Brekka. By the 24th century, the plague was wiped out, but the Brekkians exploited the situation by concealing this fact from the Ornarans, and they continued supplying them with the drug, to which they eventually became addicted. Generations of drug addiction and dependence resulted in a loss of intelligence to the Ornarans, which the Brekkians exploited even more.

By 2364, the Ornarans had lost their ability to transport the felicium from Brekka to Ornara. This put the economy of Brekka under threat, because they'd become dependent on the income from the sale of felicium to the Ornarans, and the sole remaining industry on Brekka was the production of the drug.

The Chrysalians are a spacefaring race native to the planet Chrysalia in the Alpha Quadrant. They are a neutral people who have been at peace for at least 10 generations, and now are "uninvolved in all interstellar matters of consequence." They seem to have unbalanced birthrates with women outnumbering men by four to one.

In 2366, they hired a human, Devinoni Ral, to handle their affairs in negotiation for the Barzan wormhole. The Chrysalians felt they had the resources, technology and science to oversee a wormhole, and Ral was able to secure exclusive rights to the wormhole by manipulating the Caldonians, the Ferengi, and the Federation. Eventually, the wormhole was determined to be useless, and Ral expected the Chrysalians to be quite angry when he returned to report to them.

Note: This is NOT a PC and NPC rated race due to the Prime Directive.

The Dremans are a humanoid species native to the planet Drema IV in the Selcundi Drema sector. They have dark orange skin, enlarged foreheads and long fingers. The Dremans fall under the protection of the Prime Directive, as they are a pre-warp civilization. They possess a minimum level of technology, such as radio frequency transmitters.

In 2365, Starfleet Officer Data violated the Prime Directive when he responded to a distressed radio call from a Dreman named Sarjenka. He discovered that her species was threatened with extinction due to the planet's unstable geology, which was rapidly increasing. Due to the officer's involvement, Starfleet was forced to get involved, and made the decision to save the species by way of shattering the planet's dilithium lattices, which calms the geologic activity.

Note: This is a PC and NPC rated species only as long as the Elaysian has received the below treatment.

Ensign Melora Pazlar, a female Elaysian.

The Elaysians are a humanoid civilization native to Elaysia, a low-gravity planet.

The Elaysian physique and neural motor cortex is adapted to cope with a low gravity; on their homeworld they are virtually able to "fly." When exposed to Earth-standard gravity environments, they need physical support to function. The type of support varies, but includes wearing an external skeleton, with integrated servomotors which helps by supporting the person's own skeleton. However, this only functions for short periods of time. For longer-term physical support, other forms of support are needed, like a wheelchair or an anti-grav unit.

A medical treatment was developed by Doctor Julian Bashir based on earlier neuromuscular adaptation research by Nathaniel Teros. By elevating the neural output to the brain's motor cortex via neural analeptic transmitters, he improved the theory, and made this treatment possible. The drawback of this treatment is that if started, no exposure to low gravity environments is advised because this would confuse the person's body and motor cortex. When finished, the person can move naturally in Earth-like normal gravity as most typical humanoids. The results of the treatment are irreversible.

Only a handful of Elaysians have ever left their planet. Melora Pazla became the first Elaysian to enter Star Fleet.

The Hekarans are a humanoid civilization native to planet Hekaras II. They are members of the Federation.

They are similar in appearance to Humans, but have distinct cranial ridges, which extend from their foreheads down the back of their skulls.

In the late 2360s, Hekaran scientists discovered that the region of space near their planet, known as the Hekaras Corridor, was very susceptible to warp field effects. They approached the Federation Council with their concerns about the damage caused by warp travel through it. They further tried to persuade the council and their own people to avoid the use of warp travel in the area, even though it would mean the almost total isolation of their planet. When their theories were dismissed, the cientists first mined the corridor with verteron pulse producing devices in order to gain Star Fleet's attention. When this method appeared to have unsatisfactory results, one scientist caused a warp core breach on their ship, killing themselves, but creating a subspace rupture in the Hekaras Corridor and making it unsuitable for warp travel.

Following the incident, the Hekaran's theories were taken seriously. Unfortunately, due to the gravitational shifts following the formation of the rift, the climate of Hekaras II began to change. As a short-term measure, Star Fleet was able to assist the Hekarans with a weather control matrix.

Ty Kajada, a Kobliad female.

The Kobliad are a humanoid species, native to the Alpha Quadrant, though they are dispersed throughout the Beta and Delta Quadrants as well.

The Kobliads have a distinguished bone structure connecting the nose and the hairline over the forehead.

They achieved the ability to conduct interstellar travel by mid-22nd Century, and were first observed by Humans on Risa in 2152.

Others were present in the Delta Quadrant in the late 2370s.

By the late 24th Century, the Kobliad people were near extinction, due to deteriorating cell structures. One remedy for their condition was the element deuridium, which stabilized the cell structures, prolonging their lifespans.

In the late 2360s, the Federation was working to supply them with this substance, but even despite new deposits opening up in the Gamma Quadrant after the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole, deuridium remained too scarce to service their entire population. As a consequence, some Kobliad used underground, or black market ways, to get it.

Rotciv are a humanoid species, widely dispersed throughout the Alpha, Beta, and Delta Quadrants.

They became warp-capable sometime before what Earth calls the 21st Century, and were already present among the traders on Rigel X by 2151. By the late 23rd Century, a number of Rotcivs were enlisted in Starfleet, with one noted to have served on the USS Excelsior in 2293.

Frequently nomads, you can find Rotcivs everywhere, including working on freighters or for shadier bosses. However, Rotcivs have also been commended medics, especially during the Federation-Klingon war in 2373.

Their presence in the Delta Quadrant was noted by Captain Janeway.

The Tanugans are an intelligent humanoid species and civilization from the planet Tanuga IV.

They are distinguished by their up-swept eyebrows, and two to three successive V-shaped ridges on their foreheads, which echoed the brow line. In 2366, both genders preferred stiffly up-swept hairstyles. Males have very pronounced receding hairlines and enlarged foreheads. The foreheads of Tanugan females are only slightly enlarged.

The Tanugans are a technologically advanced civilization, and maintain an orbiting research station, the Tanuga IV research station, and a facility on Tanuga IV.

In 2366, the Tanugan security force was the civilization's police force, headed by a Chief Investigator.

In the Tanugan system of justice, the accused were guilty until proven innocent. Furthermore, witness accounts could be made by those who only heard about an event happening in addition to those involved.

A Thasian (2266)

The Thasians are a species of non-corporeal, psionically-powerful beings believed to be native to the planet Thasus. The Federation has encountered them only once, in 2266.

A Human named Charles Evans was the only survivor of a crash-landing on the planet Thasus. Because he was young and the planet was inhospitable to Humans, the Thasians granted him considerable psionic powers so that he might survive.

After Evans was rescued from Thasus, he misused his powers and caused considerable trouble. The Thasians located him after he had used his powers to take control of the USS Enterprise. At close range, they had no difficulty preventing him from using the abilities they had granted him; this suggests they possessed at least the same powers as they granted Evans. One Thasian rematerialized people and objects previously dematerialized by Evans. It also transported itself to the Enterprise (or possibly projected an image of itself), and transported Evans from the Enterprise to its own ship.

Thasians have the power to confer psionic ability on other beings. Once they have done so, they either cannot or will not remove this power. When Captain Kirk suggested that Evans belonged with his own people, the Thasian said "That would be impossible." When Kirk suggested Evans might be trained not to use his powers, the Thasian replied that "We gave him the power so he could live. He will use it – always." The Thasian then removed Evans from the Enterprise and disappeared with him, saying they offered him life, and would take care of him.

Thasians travel through space within a glowing construct that is apparently their version of a space vessel. This does not seem to traverse space linearly, instead materializing and dematerializing. Sensors can detect this construct, but deflectors indicate no solid substance.

The Thasian encountered in 2266 appeared as a translucent, floating Human face, approximately one meter tall that wavered and rippled constantly. It stated that it had taken its form from centuries ago so that it might communicate with Humans. This is therefore unlikely to be the true form of most Thasians, and it may be that they can change forms only with difficulty.

Tilonian male

The Tilonians are a humanoid species, native to Tilonus IV.

They are quickly characterized by arches that fade from the middle of their forehead, going around their temple, and fading back away by their cheek bones. Inside the arches were a series of ridges. A common hair color among Tilonians was dark brown.

In 2369, the Tilonian Prime Minister was assassinated, and the government descended into anarchy. The government split into several factions, with all of them fighting for power. Some factions used torture in order to obtain information.

During this time, a Starfleet science research team was present the planet, and sent a distress signal for their rescue. When an away team beamed down, a member of the team was kidnapped and tortured, as the Tilonians recognized him for an alien. Even after the officer was returned to his ship, he suffered PTSD due to the Tilonians’ torture techniques.

A Valakian male

The Valakians are a humanoid species with a pre-warp society, native to the M-class planet Valakis. They share their homeworld with the Menk.

In the 22nd century, a plague caused 12 million deaths on Valakis, so they dispatched numerous sub-warp spacecraft to seek help from off-worlders. By 2150, they had made first contact with the Ferengi and one other warp-capable species. In 2151, the Enterprise answered their call for aid, their doctor discovering the source of the epidemic. Revealing the "illness" to be a genetic anomaly, the cells' rate of mutation had started to accelerate over the past few generations. Based on projections, the Valakians would be extinct by the 24th century. This would give the Menk the genetic advantage, making them the dominant species on the planet.

Though this was before the Prime Directive, Captain Archer believed it was unethical to interfere with what they interpreted as the natural evolution of the planet's two species. Instead, they offered drugs to ease the symptoms of the illness.

By 2378, there were only 730,000 Valakians left on Valakis, now called "Menk", compared to 2.8 billion Menk.

A Wraith

Not to be confused with the Pah-wraiths of Bajor.

The Wraith are a telepathic, shapeshifting species, native to the planet Dakala. They have been hunted by the Eska.

When a Wraith shifts its shape, they are able to fool sensors into believing they are whatever form they have taken. They are able to take the form of anything seen by a person whose thoughts they have sensed, including an imagined being. If a Wraith should come to harm, and cells separate from its body, the separated cells will then be in a perpetual state of flux, unable to take a firm form. If a Wraith becomes panicked, they emit a chemical signature that is trackable by Eska.

While visiting the planet in 2151, Captain Jonathan Archer and the crew of the Enterprise stumbled upon the Eska hunters, and later, the Wraiths. Dr. Phlox was able to create a compound that masks their trackable chemical signature, and it was distributed to as many as possible. Subsequently, the Wraith were able to scare away the next hunting party.

Prefect Jaris, a male Argelian

The Argelians are a humanoid species that hail from the planet Argelius II, though natives call the planet "Nelphia."

They became members of the Federation in 2230.

Outwardly identical to Humans, the Argelian race is known for its hedonistic, peace-loving nature. This was acquired after undergoing a period in Argelian history known as the "Great Awakening," circa the 2060s, which fundamentally reformed their society from violent to peaceful. Since the Great Awakening, the Argelians have adopted a pacifist way of life, deploring any form of violence.

Since this species is so focused on pleasure, they choose to import administrative officials from other worlds to maintain order, rather than doing the governing themselves. Unfortunately, this almost led to a planetary judicial crisis in 2267, when three murders were committed. Punishment for this crime dated back to before the Awakening, and would have been death by way of slow torture. Fortunately for the Argelians' morals, the aggressor was a non-coporeal lifeform, and the execution did not go through.

Some Argelians possesses psychic powers, but it is not a common characteristic. Their lifestyle and clothing, along with the architecture of their buildings, has been compared to "Middle Eastern" countries on Earth.

A humanoid species native to Beta III, the Betans possessed highly advanced technology thousands of years ago, including heat beams capable of reaching into orbit. Their leader at the time, a philosopher named Landru, became deeply concerned that the raging wars would destroy all life on the planet. To solve this problem, he built an extremely sophisticated computer, naming it after himself. The computer grew to eventually exert absolute control over the thoughts and feelings of the entire planetary population. The computer also created "the Body", similar to a hive mind, which eliminated hate, fear, and conflict, put an end to war, disease, and crime.

Though policed by the "Lawgivers," people moved through their lives in a blissful daze, and nothing changed for almost six thousand years. After the supercomputer was destroyed by Captain Kirk, who saw that the machine was causing the people and their society to be stagnant, a team of sociologists were left behind to help the people rebuild their culture. In 2267, the population numbered in the millions.

A Betelgeusian ambassador

The Betelgeusians hail from the planet of Betelgeuse II. They are an ornithoid (birdlike) species, and are typically seven feet tall. Although roughly humanoid, they are evolutionary descended of a race of creatures combining characteristics of eagles and leopards. With claw and bone structures like a condor, but able to walk upright, members of this species also have two mouths: one for speaking, one for eating food.

While they consider Betelgeuse IV (Hav'a'halar) their homeworld, they once lived on all three Class M planets in the system. They have their own world-wide language, and do not make any distinction between their history and their mythology. When a member of this species is old enough, they choose one of five heroes from their mythology to emulate: Altaa, Slichez, Lahile, F'ter or Doban. This practice is called "j'tonka." Criminals of this species typically follow a sixth evil hero named Cordban, while pretending to follow one of the others. Betelgeusan society is then divided into social groups called "naccords", who all emulate the same hero.

Betelgeusians became a member of the United Federation of Planets in 2230, and had members serving in Starfleet by the mid-2270s.

Devidians in their true form

Devidians are a vaguely humanoid, shapeshifting species native to Devidia II. They are between 2 and 3 meters in height, and glow brightly in a light blue hue. They possess an orifice on what most humanoids would call their forehead that resembles a mouth. They live out of phase with most other lifeforms, with a documented phase variance of 0.004. They also possess the ability to travel through time, and/or exist in two time periods simultaneously.

Devidians' only perceived useful form of nourishment is Human neural energy. They acquire this by draining the subject of their neural energy, which in turn kills the subject. It was documented that they preyed on Humans from 19th century San Francisco, using a cholera epidemic as their cover.

In 2369, the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701-D was able to fire modified photon torpedoes on the Devidians' hideout in order to prevent further incursions. It is unknown whether this wiped out the encampment, or simply stopped them for a short amount of time.

Ekosian Deputy Führer Melakon in 2268

Ekosians are a humanoid species native to Ekos, one of two M-class planets in an unnamed star system.

The pre-warp Ekosians, as a result of their wars, were in a state of anarchy in the mid-23rd century. This drew the attention of their sister world, Zeon, which had managed to live in peace for many generations, and had developed the beginnings of interplanetary spaceflight. Many Zeons went to Ekos in an effort to help their neighbors learn peaceful ways.

The Federation also took note of the chaos of Ekos, and dispatched a historian to act as a cultural observer to the upheaval. Unfortunately, the historian believed that Utopian fascism would help to save Ekos, and interfered. He abandoned the Prime Directive, contaminated the culture, and created a National Socialist Party world government where he was the Führer. However, his Deputy Führer ousted him from power, and the Zeons became their target victims. Coercing the historian into divulving technological secrets, Ekosian weapons were quickly upgraded. By 2268, the "Final Decision", a genocidal invasion on the planet Zeon, was preparing for deployment.

Captain Kirk and the Enterprise stepped in, and were able to prevent the Ekos' attempt at genocide. An underground alliance of Zeon and Ekos rebels helped the Federation to topple the 1940s Germany-like government. The Zeons and Ekosians then were able to work together, later becoming members of the Federation.

Not much is known about the Eminians, other than they are a humanoid species native to the planet Eminiar VII.

In 2267, the Enterprise was sent to broker relations with the planet and its people, since scans showed a level of technology consistent with a warp-capable people. It was discovered that the Eminians, and their neighbors, the Vendikar, had been entrenched in a "virtual" war for over 500 years. Rather than fight the war themselves, it was fought via computer, sending an estimated 3 million to their deaths annually. Instead of dying on a battlefield, people would be chosen at random to enter a disintegration station.

Though each side feared the other would send real weapons if the death quota was not met, Captain Kirk was able to convince both planets to sit down for peace talks. The High Council then agreed to the establishment of full normal diplomatic relations with Federation.

The Joran are a peaceful and technologically advanced species of humanoids inhabiting the Equatorial Desert region of the planet Kryn'tor. A private people, the physiology of the Joran is unknown but they appear to be warm-blooded bipedal mammals around 1 meter in height. They wear hooded shrouds underneath which is visible two glowing eyes.

The Joran live in an underground city (or cities) powered with advanced forms of electricity. Very little is known about their technology, which may be more advanced than the Federation. It is not clear whether they have or use warp technology, though they do have transporter technology. A Joran transporter beam is red in colour.

The Jorans have a device screening the planet from the harmful effects of radiation from their local star R’ek. The device creates an effective dampening shield that interferes with Federation transporters, targeting and guidance systems.

Joran language is like birdsong and consists of chirruping and whistling. However, like the Nakai, they have learned Federation Standard from previous encounters with humans.

The Jorans are known to be governed by a Grand Council.

The Jorans appear to have little contact with the pre-industrial Nakai people who inhabit Kryn'tor's Northern Forest Region but the two seem to peacefully co-exist on the planet.

A USS Copernicus, GEC-9035 away team stumbled into their territory on Stardate 20811.14 believing Kryn'tor to be uninhabited by sentient life (see Copernicus Mission logs "If it Looks too Good to Be True"). The Jorans appeared happy to trade with the Federation, but the dialogue was cut short by the appearance of a Romulan warbird in the system and the Copernicus was forced to leave.

Although a politically neutral race with no standing military, elements within the Cardassian Central Command employed Kressari as intermediaries in 2370 to secretly supply a Bajoran insurgence group with weapons and other supplies.

Since their reptilian skin is not as flexible as other humanoids', Kressari express emotional states through changes in the colors of the irises of their eyes. These colors include black, white, blue, violet and vermillion, with each color denoting a different emotional state. The colors can also combine, with one surrounding another in concentric rings, to express more complex emotions.

The Lumerians are a humanoid species, clearly noticeable by their distinctive forehead markings.

As a species they are gifted with empathic abilities, but are usually culturally restricted in the use of this empathy to other Lumerians and alien empaths and telepaths. Some Lumerians seem to be able to ritually form a psionic bond with another person, giving him or her the option to "dump" bad feelings and other "mental waste" onto the bond partner. The latter one usually suffers from severely accelerated aging and aggressive behavior. The ritual is performed with the help of a crystalline stone, that seems to enhance the psionic output of the ritual participants. Medical evidence of such an occurrence can be found in the cerebral cortex, in the form of elevated levels of neurotransmitter residue.

Lumerians performed a funeral meditation which usually involved a partner, and speaking in the Lumerian language.

A Metron male

The Metrons are a powerful, enigmatic species whose government is known as the Metron Consortium.

The Metrons were first encountered by United Federation of Planets representatives in 2267. In that year, Captain James T. Kirk ordered the USS Enterprise to pursue a Gorn vessel that had destroyed an observation outpost located on Cestus III. As the pursuit passed the uncharted solar system, the Enterprise was scanned, the Gorn vessel was stopped, and Kirk assumed they were posturing to fight. But both ships were held in place, not by tractor beam or by spatial forces, but by a power the Enterprise could not detect. The Metrons declared both ships to be savages, and removed each Captain to a neutral planet to fight to the death. When Kirk won, but chose to spare the Gorn, his mercy surprised the Metrons. They then returned each Captain to this ship, and were able to relocate the Federation ship 1,600 light years from its previous position.

In this one encounter, the Metrons demonstrated many formidable abilities: manipulation of energy forms unknown to the Federation; scanning at great ranges; transportation of matter over great distances; and possibly terraforming planets to specific requirements. All this suggests their science and technology is hundreds or thousands of years more advanced than that of the Federation.

Metrons have long lifespans; the representative that met Kirk was approximately 1,500 years old, despite appearing as little more than a boy. His comment to Kirk suggested an interest in the political and sociological geometry of the galaxy that was thousands of years old.

Nuria, a Mintakan female
Liko, a Mintakan male

The Mintakans are a proto-Vulcan humanoid species native to Mintaka III, who exist in a Bronze Age state of technology. Despite their relatively minimal technological advancement, Mintakan culture has rejected the notion of a god or other supernatural beings. As of 2366, these people had already been recording astronomical and archaeological data for several generations.

This species was part of a scientific observational study conducted by the Federation in 2366. Unfortunately, the anthropological team was exposed when one of their reactors failed, causing their holographic "duck blind" to fail. When the USS Enterprise responded, the cultural contamination deepened, and the Mintakans' belief in gods returned. They mistook Captain Picard for one of their old gods, and were only relieved of this belief when the Captain was wounded before their eyes.

Despite the gross (though limited) cultural contamination by both the anthropological observation team and the Enterprise, the Mintakan villagers were able to resume their society at a natural pace.

Notes:

  • It has been documented that this may be a matriarchal society: Mintakan women always walk in front of the men, and with stake out a negotiating position for any services that might be asked of the man.
  • Knowledge of the Mintakan incident is restricted. In 2366, "Cadet Mitena Haro's" knowledge of the Enterprise's visit to Mintaka III led Captain Picard to realize she was an impostor.

Lt. Kwan, a half-Napean officer.

The Napeans are a humanoid, partially-empathic species from the Beta Quadrant. They are easily identified by a leaf-shaped ridge on their forehead.

By the 2370s, several Napeans of Neapean hybrids were serving in Starfleet.

They are biologically compatible with Humans for producing hybrid offspring. Though they are a very private people, it has been rumored that the Napeans have only recently gained their empathic abilities following a mutation by an experiment in genetic engineering that went airborne, in 2216. This is also said to be the source of the egg'shaped organ near the base of the brain on all Napeans. Of course, the Federation does not condone genetic engineering, and so this theory remains a rumor.

Their homeworld is obsessed with conformity, having terraformed entire landmasses, and engineered the weather, to be generally uniform across the planet. Their language is said to be choppy and harsh-sounding.

Leka Trion, the governor of the Peliar Zel natives

Pelians are a humanoid species native to the planet Peliar Zel II, located in the Alpha Quadrant. Their appearance is characterized by generally being tall, posessing a larger cranium and forward lobe in the skull, a midline nasal outgrowth, and soft ridges on their heads.

This species is a member of the United Federation of Planets.

The moons of Peliar Zel were colonized during what Earth calls the 1960s, and the governments of Alpha moon and Beta moon were at odds with one another throughout the next five hundred years. By 2337, Trill Ambassador Odan was called in to mediate a major dispute. Over the next thirty years, relations between the Alphans and Betans would again deteriorate to the point of war. The major contributing factor to the situation began when the Alpha moon developed an energy source harnessing power from the moon's magnetic field causing substantial environmental damage to Beta moon.

In 2367, Ambassador Odan again negotiated a peace accord between the Alpha and Beta Moons.

In 2368, there was at least one Star Fleet cadet of Peliar Zel origin.

Scalosians were the inhabitants of the planet Scalos, located in the Alpha Quadrant.

Prior to the 2260s, the inhabitants were made infertile due to radiation sickness. Their bio-chemistry had accelerated to a point that their bodies experienced hours as other humanoids experienced minutes. By 2268, their nearly one-million population had been reduced to just five individuals. Their planet was now barren, devastated by volcanic eruptions and radiation poisoning.

In 2268, they hijacked the USS Enterprise in an effort to repopulate their race with the starship's male personnel. It was revealed that the Scalosians had been baiting passing starships, kidnapping their male crew, and though the males did not live for long, the Scalosians kept trying. Captain Kirk was able to stop the male members of his crew from being held, and placed a quarantine on the world.

In 2153, a Tarkalean freighter was attacked and boarded by the Borg, though the aggressor species was not named at the time. The Enterprise responded to the distress call, discovering two Tarkaleans in the upper deck of the freighter. Dr. Phlox was able to initially assist the Tarkaleans, but discovered that nanoprobes had infiltrated their autonomic systems and that their renal glands were replaced with cybernetic devices. The Tarkaleans eventually succumbed to the Borg, and one of the Tarkaleans attacked and injected Phlox with nanoprobes. The Tarkaleans later escaped Sickbay, forcing Captain Archer to eject the two into space.

Abrom, a Zeon.

The Zeons are humanoid from the planet Zeon, one of the two inhabited M-class planets in an unnamed star system. The Zeon are average in height, comparable to Humans.

Anatomy
The Zeon species has almost indistinguishable features to Humans, with the only visible difference being 3 bright yellow spots behind their ears.

Their internal organs are nearly identical to that of Humans, but the Zeon are able to heal at an accelerated rate (roughly 4 times faster).

By the mid-23rd century, Zeon had been living in peace for many generations, and had developed the beginnings of interplanetary spaceflight. The oldest recorded Zeon lived to be 176 years of age, with their average lifespan being around 150.

History & Culture
Noticing the state of anarchy among their warlike, pre-spaceflight neighbors, the Ekosians, many Zeons went to Ekos in an effort to help them learn peaceful ways. Sometime after 2218, a Zeon colony was established on Ekos.

After the cultural contamination done by the Federation, and the subsequent takeover of the Nazi regime by the Ekosians, Zeons became a hunted people on Ekos. Using the Nazi model, Ekos used the presence of Zeons as scape-goats to be blamed for Ekos' problems, and eventually a threat to be eliminated. With the technology obtained from the Federation contamination, Ekosians weapons were quickly upgraded.

The USS Enterprise arrived just before the launch of the invasion against Zeon. The intervention of the Enterprise exposed that not all Ekosians embranced this way of life, and the Zeons were saved from [attempted] genocide.

By the 2280s, Zeon was a noted center of trade and culture, and was known for its advancement in science and industry.

The world had a population of 3.59 billion individuals, and the government remained a protectorate of the Federation.

During a visit to Argratha in 2372, Miles O'Brien was accused of espionage by the Argrathi, due to his curiousity about their technology. He was subsequently implanted with the memories of twenty cycles of imprisonment. Once Starfleet was contacted, he was freed, offering [what the officer thought of as] a hollow apology. The terrible disease infected everyone, including children who were still in the womb. Most people died from the Blight, with few infected children able to reach adulthood. The final stage of the disease was incredibly painful, as the Blight "quickened" and destroyed their body.

After generations of these conditions, their technology had been all but lost, with their population declining at a dangerous rate. Their culture became obsessed with death, and the easing of pain, rather than any kind of forward progress. Any medical professional that remained were only able to offer little more than relief from the pain of Quickening and a clean, warm bed to die in.

A male Tosk

Tosk, a name which means "The Hunted", are a reptilian-humanoid species that had no personal designations (names).
The Tosk's solar system had a K-Class star, with a magnitude of +9.

This species was bred and trained to be prey animals in a ritual hunt for a species whose names were only known as the "Hunters." The Hunters would track, capture, and ritualistically kill the Tosk, and it was said that the Tosk were only sentient because the Hunters made them so. To a Tosk, the purpose and meaning of life was to outsmart and escape a Hunter or Hunters and live to see another day. The Tosk culture became pride in escaping the Tosk, and then dying with honor by a Tosk hand. In Hunter society, Tosk were seen as valued, and were treated with respect and admiration.

Tosk have the ability to make themselves invisible to the naked eye, though they could still be 'seen' via sensors. They posses great agility, and only required 17 minutes of rest per day to be refreshed. Liquid nutrients could be stored in plasmic fibers located throughout their bodies. Somehow, they were able to understand the mechanics of engineering, and had ships that could travel in space.

When a Tosk encountered a species that was not a Tosk or Hunter, they were often nervous and guarded, as there was no trust or understanding between them. A farewell of respect from a Tosk consists of them grasping the recipient's upper arms with their hands and wishing that, when their time comes, they die with honor.

In 2369, a Tosk became the first visitor to the Alpha Quadrant through the Bajoran wormhole. He was convinced to dock at Starbase Deep Space 9 for repairs. The Tosk's ship was a one-person vessel, with standard systems, which enabled Chief O'Brien to repair his ship easily. O'Brien later helped the Tosk evade the Hunters, to retain his honor, rather than be captured alive.

The Annari are a humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant.
They have greenish-brown skin, and many bony facial structures.
Their government is the Annari Empire.

Since at least 2374, the Annari have been at war with the Kraylor, enforcing a blockade of the Kraylor homeworld.

In 2377, the Federation starship USS Voyager encountered the Annari while performing maintenance on a planet within Annari territory.
Though friendly at first, they evicted Voyager from their space after learning that members of the crew had assisted the Kraylor in running a cloaking device past their blockade.

A sensor echo of a Ba'neth.

The Ba'neth are an extremely xenophobic and reclusive Delta Quadrant species. They are known to have tentacles, and possess a relatively large fleet of ships, including at least one space station.

They inhabit the same region of space as the Kesat, who until 2376 regarded the Ba'neth as a myth, since so little was known about them. Until that year, at least 12 documented ships had been attacked by unknown assailants, leaving no survivors, until Voyager's shuttle "Delta Flyer" encountered the species. Security Chief Lieutenant Tuvok was able to interrupt a Ba'neth from downloading tactical information from the Starfleet shuttle's computer.

Ba'neth utilize cloaking technology in order to keep them from being detected, choosing instead to observe other species as they traveled through the Ba'neth region of space. One Kesat was able to develop a way of disrupting the cloak, which Captain Janeway used in order to contact them.

In addition to defensive cloaking devices, the Ba'neth have offensive technology such as neural disruptors, which would erase short-term memory.

This species' name comes from the Kesat language, where "Ba'neth" means "shadow people."

This species' heart was located between their eighth and ninth right ribs. They have distinctive forehead ridges, similar to that of some species of Earth birds, and feather-like structures around their faces and on their brows.

Though generally a pleasant people, their legal system, which was based in courts and trials, often resulted in severe punishment. At one point, murder was punished with lethal injection for the perpetrator. Later, murderers were forced to relive their victim's last moments periodically, by means of inserting the memories of the victim into their brain. The Banea insisted that this was meant as punishment, not torture.

The Benkarans live within the territory controlled by the Nygeans, who view them as predisposed to criminal behavior. Although they only comprise 10% of the overall population, Benkarans make up 80% of the population of Nygean jails. Benkarans are also ten times more likely to be executed for a crime.

Several Benkarans were employed at the Primary Energy Facility on Quarra. One seemed to be a high-ranking monitor, since she worked at a console that controlled the access to main power through out the Capital.

The Federation's first encounter with this species occurred in 2374, when members of this species tried to take the USS Voyager's shuttle in order to retrieve a coaxial warp drive. They were noted for their advanced assault cruisers, as well as their fanatic dedication to their rule of law.

Little is known about this species except for the names of certain organizational structures: their planets Benthos and Bentha were part of the Benthan system; their home government was the Benthan Protectorate; military force was known as the Benthan Guard.

Bothan infiltrator (2372).

The Botha are a reclusive, apparently humanoid species who inhabit a region of space in the Delta Quadrant. Hostile to outsiders, most vessels that enter their space are never seen again.

Despite their xenophobic nature and frightful rumors, inhabitants of the Delta Quadrant did not see the Bothans as aggressive, merely reclusive, careful, and protective of their region of space. They were apparently very concerned about vessels attacking their settlements.

In 2372, the USS Voyager entered their space, and attempted to negotiate passage. Almost the entire crew was neutralized in an elaborate series of hallucinations, apparently caused by a powerful psionic field generated by three Bothan ships. The hallucinations began with various elements from the victim's memory, and gradually became more inclusive until the person entered a comatose state, trapped in a fantasy reality.

The Bothans' telepathic attack was defeated by Kes, who was able to "mirror" their attacks back onto the perpetrator. This allowed her to trigger a resonance burst from the warp core, which blocked the Bothan's psionic field. However, both the Bothan on Voyager and his ships were illusions, disappearing after informing Captain Kathryn Janeway that he had no reason for attacking them other than that he could. The Botha's true nature was never discovered.

Not much is known about the Briori. They presumably have a humanoid form.

In 1937, this species abducted over three hundred Humans from Earth, including famous female pilot Amelia Earhart. They transported these people to a planet in the Delta Quadrant to be used as slave labor. The Human slaves revolted, however, and overthrew their Briori masters, taking their weapons and technology, and eventually establishing a thriving settlement.

Fifteen generations later, in the year 2371, the settlement was discovered by the crew of the USS Voyager, along with Earhart and seven other Humans who had been left in suspended animation for unknown reasons.

The USS Voyager crew were assumed to be Briori when observed from a few dozen meters away, but were recognized as Humans from up close.

The star system that the abducted Humans were taken to was the Briori system. Its primary star is classified as a Class G star, with a magnitude of +5, the same brightness as in the Sol System.

Prelate Alcia, an adult Drayan
Tressa, an elderly Drayan

The Drayan people are a humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant planet Drayan II. They were encountered by the USS Voyager in 2372.

They have a scaly, triangular patch at the center of their hairline, and otherwise look identical to a Human. They wear drab clothes, and cover all exposed skin with a thin black veil. Those close to death did not adhere to this clothing custom. The Drayan people are lead by a "First Prelate."

Their people were once brilliant scientists and engineers, and the species is warp-capable. However, they decided several generations ago that their obsession with technological improvement was harming their species. As a result, they have withdrawn into their own star system, and hardly ever make contact with other species.

This species believes that the body is merely a reflection of a higher existence, and put this belief into practice with their death rites. Unusually, the Drayan aging process is the reverse of that of Humans: once they reach a certain age, they begin to "age backwards", and their elders appear to be children. Around their ninetieth year, they instinctually feel a call to a particular cave on one of their moons, and go there to die. The process of their death is uncertain, but they leave no bodies, only a pile of clothing. The Drayan believe that at the point of death, their bodies rejoin the infinite energy existing there. This was known as the "final ritual."

A male Entharan

The Entharans are a humanoid, warp-capable species found in the Delta Quadrant. Their star system was binary, and had two K-class stars.

This species' most distinctive feature is a a complex bone structure above and around their noses, which contains a premaxilla bone.

They rely primarily on trade as a method of survival, and put great emphasis on maintaining good relations with their buyers. Consequently, even an accusation of wrongdoing can end the career of an Entharan trader.

Captain Janeway and the USS Voyager encountered this species in 2374, and attempted to buy goods a weapons trader. Unfortunately, an accident during a demonstration led Seven of Nine to wrongfully accuse the trader of mistreating her. Unfortunately, the trader in question was killed before the mistake could be rectified.

Technology available to the Entharans included monofilament stimulators, electro-dynamic probes, micro-calipers, dermal regenerators, transporters, and weapons such as isokinetic cannons and thoron rifles. Some weapons were described as crude, but effective. Their starships were small but well-armed. They were also familiar with the Borg.

Haakonian male

The Haakonians are a warp-capable, humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant. Their government is called the Haakonian Order.

Physically, Haakonians are tall and pale skinned.

Sometime before 2346, the Haakonians conquered Talax. This was followed by a decade-long war, which concluded with the Haakonians' deployment of a metreon cascade on the Talaxian moon, Rinax. This weapon caused such devastation that it instantly ended the war, with the Talaxians yielding their homeworld and colonies to the Haakonians.

The only known Federation encounter with the Haakonians was made by the USS Voyager in 2371, when a Haakonian scientist came aboard Voyager seeking Neelix. The scientist had been involved in the war with the Talaxians, having been the one to develop the metreon cascade that killed thousands of Talaxians. Although allegedly seeking to cure a side-effect of that cascade, the man was actually trying to reverse its original effects. Sadly his experiment failed, and he died of metreon poisoning soon afterwards.

Demmas, an Ilari

The Ilari are the natives of the planet Ilari in the Delta Quadrant. They are warp-capable humanoids with a rigid system of government. Their highest office is that of the Autarch, who is marked by a silver talisman. Other important positions included the First Castellan, and regional Viceroys that control various territories. The Autarch controlled a fleet of warships.

Sometime in the 22nd Century, the Autarch was a man named Tieran, who came to power at a time of crisis, and by all accounts, ruled well. However, as a peacetime leader, he became paranoid and dangerous, eventually ousted from power. However, he had developed a technology that allowed him to move between host bodies, making him theoretically immortal. In 2373, his host body died aboard the USS Voyager, and he took over the Ocampa, Kes. Although he found her physically weak, he discovered that he was able to put her psychokinetic abilities to dangerous uses, and grew fond of her body. Returning to Ilari, he staged a coup and killed the ruling Autarch. He then persuaded the dead leader's younger son, Ameron to join him.

As a civil war broke out on the planet, the crew of the Voyager rescued Kes, but failed to prevent Tieran from taking Ameron as a new host. Using a piece of technology designed by the Doctor they removed Tieran's influence from Ameron and left the planet, leaving the old Autarch's elder son, Demmas, in power.

Loken, a male Kraylor
Dayla, a female Kraylor

The Kraylor are a humanoid species indigenous to the Delta Quadrant. They are identified by the gill-like structures extending from the bottom of their ears down the ridge of their jaws. They also have a single small ridge on the top of their nose somewhat reminiscent of Bajoran nose ridges, and an olive skin complexion.

When the USS Voyager crew made first contact, the Kraylor were engaged in hostilities with another Delta Quadrant species, the Annari. The Annari had the upper hand at the time, having erected and maintained for three years a blockade of the Kraylor homeworld. The Kraylor, however, were not completely without resources, and were in the process of delivering a prototype vessel equipped with a cloaking device to their homeworld. Instead of the medical and food supplies they claimed to be transporting, the Kraylor were instead delivering cloaking devices, hoping to use them to throw off the Annari blockade.

The Annari soon learned how to detect cloaked vessels utilizing a scanning pulse. Though this method was effective, the transport was eventually a success, thanks to the leadership and cleverness of Ensign Harry Kim in outwitting the Annari patrols. The impact the cloaking technology had on the hostilities is unknown.

A Kraylor starship was amongst those trapped in The Void in 2377. They joined Captain Kathryn Janeway's proposed alliance, and a Kraylor delegate was aboard Voyager when Janeway was showing the ship to Bosaal. However, they left the alliance after Janeway rejected Bosaal for destroying a Kinjal frigate to obtain a polaron modulator.

Dr. Barus, a Ledosian male (2377)

The Ledosians are a relatively peaceful race whose homeworld is Ledos, located in the Delta Quadrant.

Many centuries prior to the 2370s, an advanced alien race known as Species 312 discovered that a majority of the population that was technologically advancing was polluting the area of a more primitive species that was their genetic ancestors, the Ventu.

The aliens placed an energy barrier to act as a shield around the Ventu area, protecting them from the Ledosians. For centuries, the Ledosians had tried everything to penetrate the field without success.

In 2377, the USS Voyager made first contact with the Ledosians and set in for a two-day leave. When Seven of Nine asked to attend a three-day conference, they decided to stay and extend shore leave to the whole crew. However, she and Chakotay's shuttle crashed within the barrier. They were able to neutralize it with the help of the Ventu, but the Voyager crew restored the barrier when it was feared that interaction with the Ledosians would destroy the Ventu's way of life.

The Ledosians' expedition force were able to scan Seven's deflector modifications, so the Ledosians may have used the scan data to make a copy of the deflector modifications to reopen the barrier themselves in due time, according to Seven's concerns.

The Letheans are a telepathic species, whose telepathic attacks are almost always fatal. Their skills led them to being hired by various criminal groups in the 24th century. They are known for being incredibly stubborn.

In 2371, a Lethean named Altovar attempted to acquire a few hundred milliliters of bio-mimetic gel from Julian Bashir. After Bashir refused to give him the gel, Altovar telepathically attacked him, placing him in a coma. Altovar was later arrested by Odo.

A year later, Toral, a Klingon and the illegitimate son of Duras, hired another Lethean, Soto, to read Kor's mind, after the Klingon Dahar Master discovered the location of the mythical Sword of Kahless.

Jaryn, a Lokirrim female
Ranek, a Lokirrim male

The Lokkirim are a spacefaring humanoid species in the Delta Quadrant. They were fighting an ongoing war against insurgent holograms, which they termed "photonics", when they were encountered by the Federation. The Lokirrim once employed holograms as workers, and many felt betrayed by the holograms with whom they thought they had close relationships.

In 2377, a Lokirrim patrol ship attacked the Delta Flyer II after detecting The Doctor aboard. Believing The Doctor decompiled, they detained Harry Kim and Seven of Nine on charges of transporting photonics and "biogenic material", i.e. spores that The Doctor was studying. The Doctor had in fact hidden himself within Seven of Nine's cybernetic matrix, and, using her body, was able to establish a rapport with the Lokirrim crew.

Another Lokirrim warship also attacked USS Voyager after detecting the activity of its holodecks. Since Voyager significantly outgunned the Lokirrim, Captain Kathryn Janeway was able to negotiate safe passage in return for shutting down the holodecks.

Guill, a male Mari
The surface of the Mari homeworld
Mari script

The Mari are a telepathic, humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant.

Until the mid-24th century, the Mari society was violent and crime was a major issue on their world. This was primarily caused by violent instincts being passed from one person to another via telepathy. This is similar to the problems experienced by the Vulcans before Surak's revolution.

To solve this problem, the Mari outlawed violent thoughts and developed a memory adjustment technique to remove the offending engrams from a criminal's mind (see Engramatic Purge). By their system, any crime is caused by the person who originally had the violent thought and it is their mind that is altered.

Although violent thoughts had apparently been eradicated, a black market arose in which people sold violent thoughts to allow others to experience dark emotions. This remained a relatively harmless practice until 2374 when a thought harvested from B'Elanna Torres of the USS Voyager proved so violent that its hosts became unstable. As a result, one Mari individual was badly beaten and another murdered before the culprits were caught and the black market and outlawed thoughts was uncovered.

Neelix described Mari women as, "beautiful, fascinating, and very open-minded."

Tuvok and B'Elanna Torres were arrested, and imprisoned by the Mokra government, and Voyager was threatened and fired upon after Chakotay tried to locate Captain Janeway on the planet's surface.

The Mokra government functioned as a military police state and were not above torturing their prisoners. Tuvok was subjected to Mokra torture, and despite his Vulcan ability to resist pain he was made to scream several times as a result of the intensity of the torture.

A Monean starship emerging from the water.
A Monean city

The Moneans are a spacefaring humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant. Originally nomadic, in the 21st century they discovered and settled on an artificially coherent planetoid of water, which they termed "The Waters". Their government is the Monean Maritime Sovereignty.

Although they built an industrial infrastucture and undersea dwellings, most Moneans still choose to live as their ancestors did: aboard ships. The Moneans possess limited knowledge of the deep regions of their home, as their best research vessel can only dive 100 kilometers, and The Waters' center is 600 kilometers deep. Unfortunately, the ocean eventually began to lose containment, at a rate that would result in its complete dissipation by 2380.

In 2375, the USS Voyager encountered the Moneans. Tom Paris, Seven of Nine and Monean scientist Riga embarked on an expedition on the Delta Flyer to investigate the containment loss. They discovered an ancient field reactor at the center of the ocean, and learned that the Moneans' oxygen refineries were increasing the ocean's density, forcing the reactor to divert energy from containment to its own structural integrity field.

From their findings, Riga recommended that the Moneans immediately reduce their rate of oxygen extraction, while Voyager offered to share replication technology so they would no longer have to remove it from the water. However, the Monean bureaucracy was reluctant to make such sweeping changes. Riga and Paris, acting against orders, attempted to take matters into their own hands by destroying the oxygen refineries, but they were stopped by Voyager.

Ghrath, a Na'kuhl officer

The Na'kuhl are an alien species from the 29th century, and a faction in the Temporal Cold War, vehemently opposed to the Temporal Accord. They were led by Vosk, a dangerous fanatic who viewed time travel as his innate right, despite the damage that might be done to the timeline.

At one point in their history, the Na'kuhl attempted to eradicate the Suliban. They traveled into the past and altered time to prevent the Suliban from becoming sentient. However, an opposing faction of temporal agents stopped the Na'kuhl and ensured that the Suliban attained sentience.

The Na'kuhl were very nearly defeated and captured by Daniels' faction, but using stealth time travel they escaped to an alternate Earth in the 1940s. In this reality, with the assassination of Vladimir Lenin by an unknown faction in the Temporal War, Nazi Germany was able to concentrate solely on the Western Front during World War II, allowing Adolf Hitler to conquer Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, and the entire eastern coast of the United States, including Washington, DC.

The Na'kuhl became allies to Nazi Germany and were granted ranks in the SS complete with the "privilege" to wear SS uniforms as well as several Nazi medals. The Na'kuhl further offered to provide advanced technological weaponry to the Nazis, but held back from doing so, not trusting the German forces. In exchange, the Germans provided the Na'kuhl with the materials to build a temporal conduit in New York so they could return to the future and defeat Daniels' faction and assume mastery over time. However, in 1944, Jonathan Archer and Silik destroyed the time conduit, stopping the Temporal Cold War from ever going hot, wiping out the alternate timeline, and defeating the Na'kuhl.

A Nasari ship.

The Nasari are a warp capable race from the Delta Quadrant. Physically, they are humanoid with blue skin and prominent tissue on their faces.

Their ships are relatively powerful and patrol Nasari space. They will attack without warning any ship carrying a Taresian or a person who is in the process of becoming Taresian. This is due to the nature of the Taresian mating process: males of other species are infected by a retrovirus and proceed to become Taresian so the women can kill them. However, the Nasari are relatively friendly toward other races outside of this conflict.

They were encountered by the USS Voyager in 2373 as Ensign Harry Kim was becoming Taresian. A battle ensued with the ship and Voyager escaped to Taresia.

As Voyager left Taresia, having rescued Ensign Kim from the Taresians, the Nasari were distracted by the presence of a Taresian ship.

The shrine itself was protected by a natural force field which could cause massive neural damage to anyone who attempted to cross it unprepared. The Nechisti knew the method of crossing the field but did not easily share it.

Fortunately, Dr. Vatm, a prominent Nezu astrophysicist, had realized that the meteors were not natural and had collected a large amount of information on the Etanian ship. He was killed before he could deliver the information but it was eventually given to Voyager, who used it to drive off the Etanians.

The Night Aliens are a species who live in a region called 'The Void" in the Delta Quadrant.

Because there are no stars or other systems in the area that produced light, this species was fully adapted to living in total darkness. Technologically, they are relatively advanced and use a dampening field to drain energy from encroaching ships.

The Night Aliens were infected by toxic chemicals that were being dumped into their region of space by the Malon. They were later encountered by the crew of the USS Voyager in 2375, who assisted the Night Aliens in stopping the Malon from any further pollution.

The presence of a humanoid species implies the presence of planets without a sun.

Yediq, a Nygean male (2377)
An elderly Nygean male, and two Nygean females (2377)

The Nygeans are a humanoid species that control a region of space in the Delta Quadrant.

Nygeans are distinguished by a ridge that goes from the top of their forehead, down to their neck. They also have larger ridges on their nose and chin. Their skin is blotched in appearance, and they have pale spots going down the side of their face.

The Nygeans govern a sector containing several humanoid species, one of which is the Benkarans. The Benkarans, who take up less then 10% of Nygean space, take up more then 80% of the space in Nygean prisons.

Nygean ships are capable of warp factor 8.2.

The Nygean legal system is based on an ancient protocol known as "Vekto Valek K'Vadim" or "Favor the Victims", in which the victim and/or their family determine the sentence for the offender, up to and including the death sentence.

The Federations first encounter with this race took place in 2377, when a prison ship was rescued by the USS Voyager. Its (surviving) complement was comprised of 3 Nygean guards, 3 Nygean prisoners, and 5 Benkaran prisoners.

When Voyager was pulled into The Void, they encountered another Nygean ship under the command of Captain Garon. The Nygean ship, which had been trapped in the void for a long time, was the first to enter into an alliance with Captain Janeway, which was later comprised of several more species.

In a joint effort, they discovered that a Polaron modulator would be able to create a shield bubble large enough to encompass all the Alliance ships, and the Nygeans were a large help in the construction of one. When Bosaal was asked to leave the alliance, he took several ships with him, but the Nygeans decided to stay. Within days, the Nygean ship, and all Alliance members had escaped the Void. The Nygeans said goodbye to Captain Janeway, as they were heading in the opposite direction, and wished them luck on their journey home.

Dammar, a Nyrian
Nyrian script

The Nyrians are a race of humanoids who inhabit the Delta Quadrant. Although externally identical to Humans, they are highly sensitive to cold and light and are uncomfortable in humid environments.

In 2373 the Nyrians attempted to take control of the USS Voyager using their translocator. The Nyrians gradually exchanged themselves for Voyager crewmembers at the rate of one of every 9 minutes and 20 seconds, and put the Voyager crew on board their biosphere vessel.

At first the Nyrians made it appear as if they did not know what was going on; they acted just as confused as the Voyager crew upon arrival. By the time the crew realized what was occurring (with the exception of Captain Janeway who had been suspicious all along) the Nyrians outnumbered the crew and took control of the ship.

Janeway and Tuvok eventually gained control of the translocater device, and translocated two senior Nyrians into one of the coldest environments on the habitat ship. They were then able to convince the Nyrians to surrender and set about freeing the thousands of other prisoners the Nyrians had taken.

The Pendari live on the planet Pendari in the Pendari system. They have close ties to the Norcadians, and are also big fans of the Norcadian game Tsunkatse, at which they excel due to their superior physical strength.

In 2376, while the USS Voyager visited Norcadia Prime, Captain Janeway and several others went on an away mission to the Pendari system. While they were gone, Seven of Nine was kidnapped by Penk and forced to fight in the Tsunkatse matches. In her first match, she fought against the reigning champion, a Pendari male, to whom she lost.

Ravoc, a Quarren
Quarren script

The Quarren are an industrious and technologically advanced species native to the planet Quarra in the Delta Quadrant.

Their ships use warp technology and tractor beams. The Quarren also use subspace mines. Quarren systems require a high level of supervision and involve little automation, which is unique for a warp capable species. The Quarren make use of a multi-species workforce. Some workers are acquired by less scrupulous employers through abduction because their homeworld suffers from a severe manpower shortage. They make use of memory alteration to make their captured workers more productive and less likely to escape.

The Rakosans are a peaceful humanoid species native to Rakosa V in the Delta Quadrant. Although their technology lags behind that of the Federation or the Cardassians, they are warp-capable.

In 2372, their homeworld was accidentally targeted by the missile Cardassian ATR-4107, threatening millions of lives. Fortunately, the missile was destroyed by USS Voyager personnel moments before it would have impacted with the planet. In the process, however, the planet's leader assured Voyager that the crew would always have him as a friend, as he respected their willingness to sacrifice themselves for a people they only met two days ago.

Kellin, a Ramuran female.
Curneth, a Ramuran male.

The Ramurans are a warp capable species from Ramura in the Delta Quadrant.

Physically, they are humanoids who release a unique pheromone. This affects other species, preventing them from remembering encounters with the Ramurans for more than a few hours. Due to technological enhancements, they are also immune to most forms of scanning technology (including tricorders).

They supplement their naturally understated nature with technology, rendering them practically unknown to the surrounding civilizations. Their ships and personnel use cloaking devices and they use computer viruses to wipe any records of their existence from alien computers.

As a consequence of their obsession with maintaining a covert society, it is illegal for a Ramuran to try to leave. Any who do are hunted by the tracers. This force often acts in secret but will work with others if forced, relying on their technology and natural ability to fade from memory. Once a fugitive is captured, they use a neurolytic emitter to remove the subject's memories of the outside world.

They were first encountered by the USS Voyager in 2374. A tracer named Kellin crept on board the ship while hunting a fugitive but was discovered by Lieutenant Commander Chakotay. Having explained her situation, the crew aided in the capture of the escaped Ramuran. During this time Kellin and Chakotay developed a relationship but when her mission was complete, Kellin left the ship and faded from memory.

Unable to stop thinking of Chakotay, she returned a month later and requested political asylum on the ship. This was duly granted and Chakotay began to love her again, despite not remembering their previous encounter. Sadly she was found by another tracer named Curneth who wiped her memory. Unable to understand why she wished to leave Ramura, she left for good.

All record of her was wiped by the tracers, but Chakotay used a pen and paper to record his experiences before the memories faded.

The Sakari are a humanoid species found on a planet in the Nekrit Expanse in the Delta Quadrant. They were encountered by the USS Voyager in 2373.

The Sakari civilization was decimated by an alien attack that wiped out most of their numbers. They did not know who the aliens were, but Voyager's first officer, Chakotay, discovered evidence of their identity: the Borg.

The surviving Sakari retreated into the caves beneath their planet and set up systems to try and hide their existence in case of future attacks. This was only partially successful, but the crew of the Voyager helped them improve the process in exchange for gallicite.

The requested Enterprise landing party meet Sargon's essence (in his sphere, right)

Sargon is a disembodied being -"matter without form"- among the last of a species of highly advanced humanoids who had evolved to a point where their mental powers had become almost god-like. When a cataclysmic war about 500,000 years ago ripped away their planet's atmosphere, Sargon and ten others chosen from both warring factions transferred their consciousnesses into spherical storage devices kept in a vault far beneath the surface. Sargon, his wife Thalassa, and Henoch, of the opposing faction, were eventually the only survivors - the other eight essences ceased to exist and their receptacles were dark. They were not true noncorporeal beings in that they required a receptacle to house their consciousnesses.

In 2268, Sargon detected the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) and summoned her to the planet. It had been his hope that the descendants of the colonies that his species had sown throughout the galaxy would one day venture into space. Sargon's request was that three crewmembers would temporarily relinquish their bodies to them so that they may construct android bodies as replacements. The one drawback was that the presence of such powerful consciousnesses in Human bodies accelerated the metabolism to dangerously high levels. Regular doses of metabolic drugs and close monitoring was required to enable the transfer to succeed. By mutual agreement of the Enterprise command crew, Sargon occupied the body of Captain James T. Kirk, while Thalassa occupied Ann Mulhall and Henoch took over Spock. While the bodies were occupied, the consciousnesses of the Enterprise crew were transferred to the aforementioned receptacles; their minds were too weak to interact with the outside world from there.

Henoch however wanted to keep his new Vulcan body since it was "accustomed to higher metabolism". He killed Kirk's body, hoping to kill Sargon with it. But Sargon deceived Henoch by fleeing his host and inhabiting the Enterprise herself. After Henoch was defeated and killed, Sargon and Thalassa realized that they did not have the control and discipline to use their mental powers in the physical realm. They left the Enterprise to roam other dimensions of existence, which they called 'oblivion'.

Physically, the species is humanoid, with a pale, almost metallic cast to their skin. They use holographic technology and create sentient holograms to act as cleaners and maintenance personnel aboard their ships. Unfortunately these programs, referred to as isomorphs, are not well-treated by their creators.

In 2374, the USS Voyager received a distress call from a Serosian hologram called Dejaren. Although he claimed the crew of his ship had been killed by a virus, it later became apparent that his program had destabilized and he had become obsessed with cleanliness to the point of psychosis. As a result he had murdered the crew.

A Sheliak
Sheliak script

The Sheliak are a vaguely humanoid lifeform. They are a reclusive people, avoiding contact with the Federation whenever possible. This may be due to the Sheliak attitude that humanoids are an inferior form of life.

The Treaty of Armens was established in 2255 between the Sheliak and the Federation which ceded several worlds to the Sheliak. There was virtually no contact with the Sheliak for over a century thereafter, until they demanded that a Federation colony on Tau Cygna V be removed.

Sheliak colonists refer to themselves as "the Membership" and they have a governing body called "the Corporate".

Their homeworld is located in the Shelia star system.

Unlike most humanoids, the Sheliak prefer to exist in an environment that is the same temperature as their bodies.

Gathorel Labin, a Sikarian

They are especially interested in stories, regarding them as an essential part of their culture. In fact, they are mostly interested in the new and different, quickly growing bored with any particular person or activity.

The Sikarians are a technologically advanced race but the most unusual piece of technology on Sikaris is the spatial trajector, which can instantaneously transport a person up to 40,000 light years. The limit of its range is the planet Alastria.

In 2371, the USS Voyager attempted to purchase this technology but was turned down by the Sikarian Government. A secret exchange was made anyway but the trajector turned out to be incompatible with Federation technology.

Silver Blood
Silver Blood copy of Harry Kim

The "Silver Blood" was a biomimetic lifeform from a Y Class "demon" planet encountered by the crew of the USS Voyager in 2374. Appearing as metallic liquid in its natural state, this deuterium-based lifeform had the ability to change itself into that which it came into physical contact with. In this way, the Silver Blood made copies of Tom Paris and Harry Kim, including their memories, Star Fleet uniforms and combadges. These duplicates were altered to survive upon a Class Y world and could not survive in a Class M environment. Upon duplicating humans, the Silver Blood became sentient for the first time and quickly hungered for more. Holding the USS Voyager physically hostage on the surface of its homeworld, the Silver Blood copy of Kim negotiated to have Captain Kathryn Janeway give over samples of her crew's DNA so that it could be copied.

By 2375, the Silver Blood had replicated the USS Voyager itself, including computer memory and programs, and The Doctor. Also, by this time, the replicated crew were breathing oxygen (or at least had adapted to cope with oxygen as well as the elements in a Class-Y atmosphere). They had forgotten that they had come from the Silver Blood and were traveling across the Delta Quadrant trying to return to an Earth they thought was home.

In this year, the replicated crew activated an enhanced warp drive which had no harmful side-effects on cellular life. However, the enhancements caused all people and objects made of the Silver Blood to break down and die, first striking the engineering staff and subsequently spreading. Having discovered their true nature, they set course for the planet of their origin, but did not make it in time, and failed even to make a time capsule detailing their history for others to find. The ship literally fell apart in sight of the real USS Voyager; all hands were lost, and the real Voyager never knew of the fate of its counterpart.

A Sky Spirit.

The Sky Spirits are a warp-capable humanoid race from the Delta Quadrant. They possess advanced cloaking and weather control technology, but also maintain a deep affinity with nature.

Some 45,000 years ago, the Sky Spirits visited Earth on generational ships. There they encountered a group of primitive humans, who shared their respect for the land and its creatures. Therefore, the Sky Spirits gave them a genetic gift that imparted in them a spirit of curiosity and adventure. These Inheritors then spread through North and South American continents, giving rise to many Native American tribes such as the Rubber Tree People.

The Spirits returned periodically to Earth. On their last visit, they found the Inheritors decimated by disease and war, and believed that they had been wiped out. In fact, the Inheritors had survived, many by scattering and assimilating into other societies. Into the 24th century, some had spread onto other planets.

In 2372, the USS Voyager discovered the homeworld of the Sky Spirits while searching for polyferranide. At first the Sky Spirits hid themselves, summoning powerful electrical storms in an attempt to drive them away. However, they revealed themselves after Lieutenant Commander Chakotay showed that he was a descendant of the Inheritors.

Takar, a Srivani.

The Srivani are a warp-capable humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant. The Srivani believe that experimentation on other species is an acceptable method of investigating their own physiology, and justify the inevitable harm caused by citing the number of Srivani lives saved as a result.

Their normal method of experimentation involves using an interphase cloaking device to render themselves, their ships and their devices both invisible and intangible. They then attach to the hull of a passing ship and spend several weeks carrying out experiments on the crew. These experiments range from changes in body chemistry to complex DNA manipulation carried out by cloaked tags, attached to a host's DNA.

In 2374, a group of Srivani used the USS Voyager as a testing ground. The experiments included adjusting the DNA of Chakotay to make him prematurely age and stimulating the dormant Mylean DNA in Neelix, causing him to change species. They also forced Captain Kathryn Janeway to become increasingly erratic by increasing her dopamine levels.

They were discovered by Seven of Nine and the Doctor who revealed them to the rest of the crew. Since their technology could not be defeated, Janeway flew Voyager at a nearby binary pulsar, almost destroying the ship. The Srivani, realising that they may be killed, retreated, losing one ship in the process.

The Swarm species is an unidentified territorial and hostile species who control a vast region of space in the Delta Quadrant as of 2373.

Although she knew that taking Voyager through Swarm territory would be dangerous, Captain Janeway decided to do so, since going around it would have added over fifteen extra months to their journey back to the Alpha Quadrant.

Their language was so complex and so unlike any language ever before encountered that translating it proved extremely difficult by using a standard Federation universal translator. The crew of Voyager never managed to translate more than the rough meaning of a few phrases. The Swarm species language consisted of a series of rapid clicks.

Their ships are shuttle-sized, but, when working in large groups, can disable a bigger ship by swarming it, landing on its hull, draining power from it, and finally transporting a boarding party aboard.

The Tak Tak had no cure for the macrovirus and had a policy of "purifying" any infected ship or colony. They destroyed an infected Garan mining colony in 2373 and also targeted Voyager for the same reasons. They called off their attack after Captain Janeway told them they had developed an antigen for the virus.

A female Taresian.

The Taresians are a species from the planet Taresia in the Delta Quadrant. They are humanoid with slight red spotting around their hairline.

Ninety percent of the species are female and they supplement their gene pool by mating with members of other species. They achieve this by releasing a retro-virus on nearby planets that infects the host male and begins adjusting his DNA. The host then starts to become Taresian and is drawn to Taresia where he is welcomed and told (incorrectly) that he has always been Taresian and that the species reproduce by implanting Taresian embryos in females of other species. The unsuspecting males are then separated from their shipmates and their every whim is catered for by the women of Taresia. Each male is then married to three females who mate with him. Unfortunately, the amount of DNA removed in the mating will kill the unsuspecting male, hence the Taresian's elaborate deception.

This deception was uncovered by the crew of the USS Voyager in 2373 when Ensign Harry Kim was infected by the Taresian retrovirus. He discovered the body of one of the previous males and escaped the planet.

For unexplained reasons the Taresians are at war with the nearby Nasari. Despite the Nasari being quite powerful, Taresian ships are quite capable of holding them off.

Mabus, a Trabe leader.

The Trabe are a humanoid, space-faring civilization from the Delta Quadrant. The Trabe had conquered the Kazon and integrated them in to their society as slave labor, forcing them to live in squalor separated from the Trabe who lived in luxury. The Trabe went so far as to provoke the various Kazon sects into fighting amongst themselves in order to keep them under control. Outsiders, such as the Talaxians, knew the Trabe as a highly cultured species. The Trabe did not reveal the truth regarding their oppression of the Kazon, and other governments did not intervene for fear of losing trade opportunities.

In 2346, Jal Sankur united the Kazon sects in rebellion against their Trabe oppressors, forcing them to flee their homeworld. The various sects took control of much of the Trabe space fleet, using it for their own ends, and soon began fighting amongst themselves once again, but they remained united in preventing the Trabe from finding a new homeworld.

In 2372, attempts by Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation starship USS Voyager to form an alliance with one or more Kazon sects led to her forming such an alliance with the Trabe instead. The Trabe leader, Mabus, proposed a bolder plan, one that would bring peace between Voyager, the Trabe, and the Kazon. However, after many of the Kazon sect leaders met for a peace conference, Mabus made an attempt to assassinate all of them in one move, aiming to decapitate the Kazon Order and leave the Trabe unopposed in finding a new homeworld. This plan failed when Voyager fired upon the Trabe ship attacking the conference, forcing it to quickly withdraw. Janeway dissolved their alliance shortly after.

A Turei male

The Turei are a space-faring culture from the Delta Quadrant. They are the current keepers of the underspace corridors that traverse the Quadrant. This underspace was once the property of the Vaadwaur, but in 1484 the Turei led an alliance of the Vaadwaur's enemies, launching a massive orbital assault on the Vaadwaur homeworld.

With the Vaadwaur apparently defeated, the Turei maintained their control over the underspace until 2376 when the USS Voyager accidentally entered it. Unable to escape from it, Voyager passed a Turei vessel which forced Voyager back in to normal space. They then demanded that they be allowed to board Voyager in order to remove all data on the underspace. When Captain Janeway refused, the Turei pursued Voyager to the Vaadwaur homeworld. Voyager entered the planet's atmosphere, which was still irradiated centuries after the bombardment.

Voyager's crew discovered and revived those Vaadwaur who had entered in to stasis prior to the Turei attack. These Vaadwaur quickly proved themselves to be treacherous, and attempted to take Voyager. However, with help from the Turei, Voyager was able to escape.

An Uxali Male
An Uxali female
Uxali script

The Uxali are a humanoid species native to the Delta Quadrant planet Uxal. Their planet was a peaceful one, on the path to advancement when an Earth probe, Friendship 1 from across the galaxy entered their atmosphere. It told them about the Humans, about how to communicate, and about how to build warp drive technology.

Prior to this incident, the Uxali had no idea that antimatter existed. One of the early experiments with it following resulted in a massive antimatter explosion, polluting the once M-class atmosphere with poisonous gas and radiation. Many Uxali were killed, and the few that survived were forced to live in underground caverns that partially protected them from the radiation.

Gedrin, a male Vaadwaur.
Jisa, a female Vaadwaur.

The Vaadwaur are a humanoid species from the Delta Quadrant. They are characterized by a midline cranial ridge and scaly flaps of skin around their necks. Vaadwaur culture bears similarities to that of the Klingons, in that they advocated confronting death without fear. It was common practice for Vaadwaur to encourage their children to fall asleep each night imagining a different way to die.

Prior to the 15th century, the Vaadwaur discovered and mapped the Underspace, a vast network of subspace corridors that allowed them access to star systems throughout the Delta Quadrant. They used the Underspace for exploration, commerce, and conquest, earning them the envy and enmity of hundreds of species. The population of the Vaadwaur around that time was six billion.

The Vaadwaur encountered the Borg during their travels, who at the time had assimilated only a handful of star systems. Another of the races they encountered were the Talax-ilzay, modern Talaxians, whose folklore included stories of a "phantom army" that appeared out of thin air and destroyed entire colonies before disappearing. In the old Talaxian language, "vaadwaur" is a word that means "foolish", an admonishment to those who trusted the Vaadwaur. Numerous other, similar references also testify to the aggression of the Vaadwaur.

Eventually, a coalition comprising the Turei and other species was formed to end the Vaadwaur threat once and for all. Their campaign culminated in the orbital bombardment of the Vaadwaur homeworld in 1484, which was believed to have resulted in the extinction of the Vaadwaur. The Turei subsequently claimed the Underspace for themselves.

A Vaadwaur battalion, numbering 600, managed survived the attack underground in stasis units. Believing that the Turei coalition would quickly disintegrate after their defeat, they intended to reawaken in five years and reclaim one of their former colonies. However, a technical malfunction left them in stasis until they were discovered by the crew of the USS Voyager, 892 years later in 2376. The Voyager crew found the Vaadwaur a new planet on which to rebuild.

Frustrated by their antiquated technology and the encroachment of successors such as the Devore Imperium on their former holdings, the Vaadwaur resolved to take control of Voyager instead. They were driven back with help from the Turei and Gedrin, one of their own who disagreed with their imperialistic ambitions. Fifty-three Vaadwaur vessels managed to flee into the Underspace, disappearing to parts unknown.

A Ventu female.

The Ventu are one of the two humanoid races native to the planet Ledos in the Delta Quadrant. They are related to the Ledosians, who believe them to be representative of their evolutionary precursors. The Ventu have no spoken or written language and communicate through signs.

Unlike the Ledosians, the Ventu did not become technologically advanced. Early in their shared history, the Ledosians came into conflict with the Ventu and polluted their homeland. As a result, Species 312 erected an energy barrier over the Ventu's territory on the southern continent for their protection. The Ledosians eventually developed in a warp-capable civilization, while the Ventu remained a tribal hunter-gatherer society.

In 2377, a Voyager shuttlecraft carrying Commander Chakotay and Seven of Nine accidentally crashed into the barrier. The two were marooned inside, but were able to neutralize the barrier with the help of the Ventu. However, the Voyager crew restored the barrier when it was feared that interaction with the Ledosians would destroy the Ventu's way of life.

A male Vhnori
Vhnori script

The Vhnori are a humanoid species, native to the Vhnori homeworld.

The Vhnori world is the site of many naturally-occurring subspace vacuoles, and these form the core of the Vhnori death tradition. They originally placed the bodies of the dead into these vacuoles believing that this would transport them to the Vhnori afterlife, called the Next Emanation.

Over time, this practice became combined with euthanasia. Vhnori citizens entered a device known as a cenotaph that killed them just before a vacuole opened.

Unknown to the Vhnori, the vacuoles actually led to a planet in the Delta Quadrant. On this planet, the bodies of their dead had been piling up for thousands of years, resulting in the only known concentration of element 247.

All this was accidentally discovered by Harry Kim of the USS Voyager when he was accidentally drawn through one of the vacuoles to the Vhnori homeworld in 2371. He returned using one of the cenotaphs, having seriously disturbed the Vhnori's faith. However, it was discovered that an unusual amount of neural energy existed in the planet's rings, perhaps implying that the Vhnori afterlife may not be completely without foundation.

A male Vori

The Vori are a species found on a planet in the Delta Quadrant. They are engaged in a war with the Kradin.

The Vori have the same appearance as Humans. For an unknown reason they are engaged in a destructive war with a race called the Kradin, although there is no evidence as to which species (if either) originated on the contested planet. The war is reported to involve genocide and atrocities although there is no direct evidence of this.

The Vori have an unusual training technique. They kidnap members of their species and/or aliens and place them in a controlled environment. A combination of drugs and virtual stimuli then convince the trainee that they have witnessed Kradin atrocities. The resulting soldier is fanatical in their desire to kill the Kradin "beasts". This method was used on Lieutenant Commander Chakotay of the USS Voyager when his shuttle crashed on the planet in 2374.

Zahl ambassador aboard Voyager (2374).

In one possible timeline, the Zahl were a technologically advanced and generally benevolent humanoid species who, a generation prior to 2374, defeated the Krenim Imperium. The Zahl disbanded the Krenim fleet and retook the territories they had annexed. In 2374, two Zahl starships greeted the USS Voyager upon its arrival in their space. During the meeting, the entire Zahl civilization was erased from history by Annorax's weapon ship. The erasure of the Zahl achieved an unprecedented 98% Krenim restoration, although the Krenim colony on Kyana Prime was not restored.

It is unknown what became of the Zahl after the timeline was returned to normal.

Unknown Quadrant

Vorgon

A Vorgon female

A humanoid race who, by the 27th century, had developed the ability to travel through time.

In the 27th century, two Vorgon criminals attempted to steal a quantum phase inhibitor, a device capable of halting all nuclear fusion within a star.

In order to prevent the device from falling into the wrong hands, the inventor traveled back in time to the 22nd century and hid it on Risa.

Having failed to obtain it, the criminals searched historical records and discovered that Jean-Luc Picard would discover and destroy it in 2366.

Traveling back to that point in time, they told Picard that they were security agents, and that they wished to retrieve the device for safekeeping.

When Picard learned, however, that it was two Vorgons who attempted to steal it in the first place, he destroyed it instead, thus fulfilling his role in history.

Failing in their quest to obtain the phase inhibitor, they returned to their own time.
