Personal History

Early Years

Born in Belton, Texas on Earth to Rachel and Robert Munroe. Keith and his family lived a simple but meaningful life on the family farm. At age 14 Keith and his 10 year old brother at the time William lost their mother in an accident at the academy where she taught. Both boys took the death hard but William took it the hardest. Starved for attention the youngest child began hanging out with the wrong kind of people. It started with a few meaningless pranks but later evolved into more dangerous and risky things. Due to these episodes William's brother feels the need to protect him.

At age 18 Keith and his girlfriend Rebecca, who he was very much in love with and intent on marrying, were going home from a date one night and Keith had been drinking. They ran off the road and hit a tree, totaling his Dodge Charger replica hover car and killing Rebecca instantly. He has never forgiven himself for the mistake he made and what it cost him.

Starfleet Academy

After losing his girlfriend Keith decided that Starfleet Academy was right for him. He had always had an interest in marksmanship, he liked to think he was pretty good. This interest enticed him to major in Weapons Theory. Having unintentionally lost track of his brother due to his classes, the Academy soon became Keith's life.

USS Gettysburg, CA-1863

Keith began his career in Star Fleet on the USS Gettysburg where he served under Lieutenant Garbo, a Ferengi. The young man’s timing wasn’t the best in the world, as he appeared on the bridge immediately after the Gettysburg crew had discovered the destruction of Bajor and Star Base Charlie. It didn’t really help matters any that the team leader over him happened to be Bajoran. Days past by and Lieutenant Kaiya never did get over the loss of her home planet, then again sheprobably never would have, even if she had been given the chance before being murdered. While the Gettysburg was in the Gamma Quadrant they ran into a Krynarship, thousands of shards surrounded both the Gettysburg and the Sheridan, who hhad been sent with the Gettysburg. The wormhole entrance had been cut off from the ships and things were at their worst. Midshipman Munroe was ordered to assist the Chief Medical Officer on board with the injured and dying that were the result of the attacks that were being made by the Krynar. On his way to Sickbay, the young Midshipman was thrown to the floor when the Gettysburg was hit, and hit hard, he cracked his head on the wall and went into a coma. While he was in the coma he had the most bizarre dream where he was fighting himself, but more of an opposite, everything that he secretly wanted to be. He flat lined twice while in the coma but the medical personnel managed to bring him back the first time, strangely enough he just came back by himself the second time.

USS Ticonderoga, CA-1471

After the ship somehow made it back to Star Base Alpha, Keith was promoted to the rank of Ensign and transferred to the USS Ticonderoga. Commodore Paul Braggins had asked for him directly. He could hardly believe it. He had just entered Star Fleet just a few months before and was already being noticed. He was to report to Lieutenant Theodore Caldecott on board as soon as he had unpacked his things. Thankfully there weren’t any planets being destroyed this time, or team leaders to report to. When he spoke to his Security Chief, the half-betazoid told him that he was to be the team leader. The Ticonderoga had been sent on a diplomatic mission. Apparently a couple of siblings had decided to become politicians. The Ticonderoga was sent to settle the dispute, but once they arrived they discovered that a Ferengi by the name of Damon Whodat had been playing the brother and sister against one another with hopes that the government would collapse. As it usually did, a fight broke out between Whodat and the Ticonderoga. Keith simply stood and watched, bracing and catching himself when necessary, as the battle went on. Caldecott had been having some sort of trouble with his telepathy that seemed to be very painful. He was almost relieved when the call from Engineering came through saying there was a boarding party. Naussican mercenaries had boarded the ship and had charges with them to blow up the ship. Luckily, Ensign Munroe arrived quickly with his team and dealt with the situation. The boarding party evacuated after the team leader shot just one of their people. After the mission there was a party, as there usually was, celebrating all the promotions, medals and the fact that they still lived to see another day. Keith was promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade and received a gold medal for his actions. Unfortunately, the party was cut short when the Ticonderoga crew was ordered to report for mission briefing. Apparently, the Commodore had accepted a top secret mission and had been shot down somewhere over Muro-IX. Their orders were to find Braggins’ downed fighter and destroy it, and if possible, to find him. Keith finally was getting to take his team on an away team rather than just stop a boarding party. On the way down to the planet he made a remark toward Caldecott and received a dressing down right there in front of the entire crew, needless to say that it didn’t happen again. When the Renegade set down on the planet’s surface the newly appointed Lieutenant Junior Grade ordered his team to set up a perimeter around the landing zone. When this had been done he was giving them a briefing of what was next on the list when Midshipman Kruse hit the ground, having been shot by a sniper. The entire team took cover except the two leaders, Munroe and Caldecott. The two leaders of the team took off toward the woods where the shot had come from, hoping to flush the sniper out. While hunkered down behind a low-lying spot the sniper took a shot from a different position. This particular shot went through Caldecott’s tricorder, the second shot went straight through Keith’s right shoulder as he was running for a different cover, he made it to the tree line and then immediately collapsed. Lieutenant Caldecott picked up the young Texan on his shoulders and ran him back to the ship, the first thing he did was place his minion on the loading ramp to get medical attention, but the second thing he did was call in an air strike to take care of the sniper. Keith didn’t remember most of the trip back to the ship, the first thing he remembered was the blank face of Midshipman Kruse, however, the next thing he saw was the most beautiful woman he had ever laid eyes on. At least that is what he thought until she pulled back her long black hair to reveal she was a Vulcan. Midshipman T’Aranai Dawn ended up sedating him while she melded his shoulder back together, as it turns out these sedatives were either out of date or were designed not to knock out the patient where they wouldn’t feel the pain, but to paralyze the patient where they couldn’t do anything about the torture they were going through. After a couple of minutes the sedative was beginning to wear off when Keith got up from his seat, his arm still in a sling, pulled out his phaser and tried to walk off the ship to help his team. This would have been bad enough by itself, given his condition, but it would have been much worse as the ship had already taken off. Doctor Dawn caught him before he even left the room though. Once they got back to Star Base Bravo the party took place like it normally did. The only two things different about this one was the fact that Keith was flirting with a Vulcan woman and Commodore Braggins announced that he was leaving the Ticonderoga. That night Munroe was promoted to Lieutenant and awarded the Gold Star for his actions on Muro-IX. He felt guilty that he was given a promotion and a medal for getting an officer killed in the line of duty and managing to be shot by a sniper in one setting. Keith and his new friend, T’Aranai, went to the nearest holodeck so the new Lieutenant could mourn his first loss on the job, though he was a bit caught off guard when she did more crying than he did. After that the two of them went to grab a bite to eat and began swapping stories, one thing led to another and before you knew it the man that once hated all Vulcans was now dating one. Later on that night he received word that he was being reassigned to the USS Avenger to be their Chief of Security.

USS Avenger, CA-1500

When Keith made it on the Avenger there wasn’t even time to unpack his things, he was immediately put to work and the ship was on its way to Hell, at least that’s what it would feel like. They were supposed to locate and recover a probe so they arranged an away team on the James Madison. On the way down to the planet’s surface the ship went completely dead and then literally fell from the sky. Most of the crew was injured but Keith managed to get away with a few cuts and bruises, nothing serious. Once everyone was off the ship he started to make a perimeter but the crew was attacked by natives, who they had happened to land on the nest of. When all the creatures had gone they found that they were missing someone, their First Officer. Commander Crawford had apparently been carried off by one of the creatures in the midst of the ruckus, which left Commander Rin in charge. He ordered the CoS to go with the ship’s pilot, Marine Captain Jennifer Braggins, and secure a base camp. So Lieutenant Munroe, Lieutenant Junior Grade Feng and Petty Officer Embry began scouting for a potential base camp. After about twenty minutes of searching they came across a set of railroad tracks. Jenny came up with an idea that Keith thought would be a good idea, looking back he was very much wrong. Her idea was to place something on the tracks when the locomotive came and force it to stop, then they would board the train and take it as either a base camp or a means of transportation for the sick and injured. Unfortunately, when the train made it up to the large cactus that the small group had placed in its way it didn’t even try to stop, in fact, it sped up even more, attempting to break right through it. Apparently on this planet the cacti are magnetized and this particular one lifted the train off the tracks and caused it to derail. Once the smoke had cleared and the ringing in the group’s ears had stopped, some of the natives of the planet emerged from the train car, completely unharmed. They realized that with minimal weaponry they didn’t stand a chance, especially against something that literally just withstood a train wreck and came through without a scratch. The four people divided into two groups, Feng and Embry went one way, Munroe and Braggins went the other, and got the heck out of there. Keith and Jenny ran for about two or three minutes, under fire for the first minute, finally they were able to stop and catch their breath. While they were resting and anticipating which direction to go next to hunt for water, a pair of objects fell from the sky. Naturally they moved toward them, being as cautious as they could. When they arrived at the first crash site they realized that one of the objects that had fallen from the sky was a torpedo casing. The two of them kept moving toward the other object and when they arrived they found none other than the probe that they were sent to retrieve, torn to pieces beyond repair. Jenny took a couple of grenades and threw them at the probe, destroying it. When she got back to Keith, who was supposed to destroy the torpedo, he hadn’t done it. He told her that she was insane for wanting to randomly throw a grenade at what could be a possibly live torpedo, which would detonate and kill everything and everyone within miles of them. Apparently, this made absolutely no sense to the young woman as she scoffed at him. So Keith did the only thing that he could do… stripped in the middle of the desert in front of the Commodore’s daughter! There was a method to his madness though; he attempted to use a combat knife and his clothes to disarm a torpedo, which turned out to be a survival kit for the entire crew. Immediately after this discovery they were beamed back up to the ship and Keith found himself surrounded by all those that he had been in the crash with, back on the Avenger. A big group of people were gathered on one side of the room, when Munroe got over there he saw Lieutenant Commander Shelmer on the ground with an appendage of the creature stuck inside him, and Jenny with a pistol pointed at the terrified guest. He stepped in and ordered her to lower her weapon, not realizing that someone else had just done the same, either way she complied with it. Once the creature had released Adam it was sent back down to the planet. When Keith gave his report to Commander Crawford she did more than her share of yelling, with good reason after the train incident. The young Lieutenant listened and kept his mouth shut, at first, under orders of Captain Grant, she was ready to fire and Court Marshal him. No doubt that she would have fired him if it hadn’t been for the Krynar’s invasion of the Solar System.
