|Rank:||Lieutenant Junior Grade|
|Height:||170 cm (5 ft. 7 in.)||Weight:||83.9 kg (185 lb.)|
|Eye Color:||Variant shades of blue to blue-green|
|Hair Color:||Henna red|
|Hairstyle:||Long straight hair down to her elbows. Almost always tied in a braid; during duty hours the braid is interlaced with spiked metal wire so anyone who would grab the braid in a fight is in for a nasty surprise.|
|Physique:||Athletic and muscular tone|
|Complexion:||Creamy tan skin|
|Voice:||Mid-tone and commanding voice that can be surprisingly soft with children.|
|Affiliation:||United Federation of Planets|
|Father:||Damian Cork (adopted father)|
|Mother:||Analisa Corbett (adopted mother)|
|Status of Parents:||Her parents live together on Angosia III. They were one of the many families to take in orphans from the conflict between the Angosian’s and their genetically manipulated super soldiers. They decided to adopt three children; all three are intermixed bloodlines between the super soldiers and the intellectuals. Now that their children are grown they are debating adopting two more children as they dislike the sound of an empty house. Analisa is a painter like her daughter Rissa but paints in a style like the Terran Impressionists. Damian is a philosopher who is currently working on an article about the Terran philosopher Aristotle.|
|Siblings:||Sister Rissa, 29, is an artist on their home planet; she paints in the baroque style. Rissa is married to Tayar and they have two girls age 2 and 4 (Alana and Arianna). Brother Claudio, 35, is a Colonel in the home army. Michael 12, died in a flying accident after stealing a town shuttle. All are adopted.|
Growing up as a child who was a mix between the two, now resolved, cultures of her world was hard. Her adoptive parents were wonderful, but raised their children in a pragmatic way. They always were involved in the family choices and knew a great deal of their world and the worlds around them. At a young age they were made responsible for their success or failure. They were made aware of the consequences of their actions and choices in life. Her brother Michael died when he was 12 after falling in with a local gang. They stole a shuttle and it crashed killing 5 of the 7 boys on board. Kayla applied to the Academy to make sure that justice was done, that those who needed to be protected had protection and those who would harm others were prevented from doing so. She never wanted another child to be forced into a gang like her brother.
She continued to be competitive in her academics at the Academy. After graduating the Academy, she went to serve on Star Base Alpha as a Security Officer. She enjoyed her time there and her ability to enforce the laws of Star Fleet. But a Star Base was like living on a planet; trapped to one point in space. When giving the opportunity for a transfer, she took it. She was accepted as a Security Officer aboard the USS Copernicus. When she received her assignment there was no guilt at leaving her friends behind, there only excitement for what the future would hold. The USS Copernicus would be her venture into space on a starship.
Academy Major(s): Close-quarters combat, shuttle piloting and crime scene analysis
Academy Minor(s): History and law
Hobbies and Pastimes: Babysitting; she misses her nieces so would often volunteer at nurseries in her free time.
Short-Term Goals: Attend a birth (preferably when she is not the one giving birth)
Long-Term Goals: Working her way up the ranks to become a higher ranking officer than her friend Marek. (They are currently of equivalent rank)
Personality: Quiet on duty she is a serious persona. She follows the rules but tempers them with what she judges to be right. She can be harsh, but only to those who deserve it. In public she can be seen on the fringes of things, not because of a dislike of crowds, but because she prefers to ‘people watch’. She finds this is a good way to learn about people and society. In her own environment she is fun loving and enjoys to laugh, she is almost never without a smile. She is open to learning and making new friends. She thinks that life is not worth living unless you live it well and to its fullest potential.
Sense of Humor: Anytime that she can laugh she does. She loves to laugh and make others laugh as well.
Phobias: Pigeons, she once had a pigeon steal a whole sandwich out of her hand and that with their beady red eyes makes them demonic in her eyes.
Likes: Hanging out with friends, good music, and a good mythology or two. She is currently deep into Ovid’s Metamorphosis.
Dislikes: when children are mistreated, she believes that children are sacred and will not stand for any kind of child abuse. No matter what side of the law she is on.
Achievements: Tied for first honors in all her classes on her home planet with her best friend Marek
Disappointments: Not being able to prevent her younger brother’s death.
Illnesses: Because of the genetic manipulation to the super soldiers, she is unsusceptible to most illnesses. The extent of her genetic mutations has yet to be explored or tested. She has never been ill since being adopted.
Weaknesses: Children, she will help any child first, in most any situation. However this is not a weakness that anyone would recommend be exploited as her revenge would be swift and harsh.
Fears: She is afraid of failing. She is afraid to fail her parents, her siblings, her nieces, any who depend on her.
Prejudices: She is not particularly fond of cultures that are either war-based or peace-based. She believes in balance and sees something wrong in being too far to one side or the other.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Typically anything that allows full range of motion, soft cloth materials, pants and a shirt. She prefers slightly form fitting clothes as too much fabric can trap the wearer. In her own room she wears sweaters as she is often cold.
Pets: The family has two golden retrievers, Max and Aido
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: Her brother’s death
Best Time: Her competition with her best friend Marek. It made her desire to excel and gave her goals.
Most Crucial Experience: Joining the Academy and leaving home. It was a big change for her and she is glad to survive it and see all the things she learned about in school for herself.
Role Model: In an odd fashion Marek is her biggest competition and yet her biggest role model. If he can succeed than so can she.
