Captain Quillian Dramar Recording The Sheridan, along with other elements of the 2nd Battle Group and the Mirak Star League, combined in a task force to launch a counter strike against the Romulans. Our goal was recapture Space Station Sierra-18, a strategically valuable station which was been captured at the start of the war. The fighting was brutal. The Sheridan was severely damaged during the fighting. Her computer core was infected with a virus by a romulan boarding party, that all but removed her from the fight. The crew was able to defeat the virus and regain control of the ship just in time to fight off a counter-counter attack by romulan forces. Thanks to negotiations between Rear Admiral Daher and the romulan commander, a surrender was negotiated, returning Sierra-18 to Star Fleet hands.

Captain Quillian Dramar Recording The Sheridan is currently en route to Space Station Sierra – 18 as part of a task force to retake the station from Romulan Control. The Priority One Flash message we received from Vice Admiral Riani Luhan, the Chief of Operations for the 2nd Battle Group, was in invitation to a war council meeting with Joe Daher and his First Officer Commander Paul Braggins, Commander Alex Tregelen, First Officer of Sierra -18, and Commander Longtalon of the Mirak Defense Force. The Mirak Have recently signed a mutual defense agreement with Federation, and have showed up with force.

Now that the Federation has an alliance with the Mirak, Star Fleet feels we are up to the task of launching a major offensive against the Romulans. However, in order to do so, we need to recover Sierra. Intel reports that the romulan occupation force consists of approximately 20 vessels, though there is no indication of size or class. Needless to say, I am not thrilled about the lack of intel.

Our force will consist of 20 vessels: 14 federation ships, with the Tico as the Flagship, and the Sheridan as second in command. The other 6 ships will be Mirak ships. The plan is to use the nebula Sierra 18 to mask our approach for as long as we can. Hopefully surprise will be on our side. The timing will also be critical. We'll engage any Romulan forces in the area while a marine starship sends over a boarding party to retake the station.

The Sheridan is heading to Sierra 18 at warp 8. Admiral Daher has instituted a communications blackout until our arrival. Our ETA is 22 hours.

Dr. McKenzie informed us of her engagement to Chief Harper and her pregnancy. While this happy news, I wish we would have known before we left SBB. I can only pray nothing happens to her child.

We have arrived at the meeting point and the task force has moved into position inside the nebula. All departments report that they are ready. Once inside the nebula, Rear Admiral Daher cancelled the communications blackout and initiated a new communications protocol on a secure channel. If the romulans were to detect our comm. signals, they would believe it to be static from the Nebula, at least that is the plan any ways.

The tension on the bridge is growing thicker by the minute. Some of the new officers, particularly Volaris, seem to be overly eager to engage the Romulans. They have no idea what the true nature of war really is… they’re in for a rude awaking. With any luck, they’ll live to tell about it.

The operation has officially begun. Halo fight has moved out the nebula and engaged the romulan forces. Seven ships were visible, including one dreadnaught. The others are likely cloaked somewhere. Their initial strikes were successful, two of the Peever class escorts were destroyed but unfortunately, Halo 5 was lost. The firestorm claimed its first batch of lives.

My CTO has suggested that we use the main deflector to attempt to scour the area for cloaked romulan vessels. I’m hesitant to do so due to the danger posed to the deflector dish. We cannot afford to have it over load and burn out. I’ve tasked Midshipman Swanson with the task of firing the dish should the need arise. He will also be responsible for ensure that no damage comes to the dish.

Lieutenant Mormel, one of the officers from Sierra 18, has suggested using probes to scatter tachyon particles through out the area in an attempt to detect cloaked vessels. I’ve instructed him to prep the probes but launch will wait until we know that ships are in the vicinity. We only have a few probes so we can’t waste them shooting blindly.

We’re now waiting for Joe to give the order to being the 24 minute jaunt to Sierra 18 to engage the Romulans.

Admiral Daher has made a slight adjustment to the attack plan, one I agree whole-heartedly with. Instead of making the slow, 24 minute jaunt at full impulse to the station after exiting the nebula, we will make a quick a warp jump upon exiting. The Tico used a battery of tachyon beams to determine that our vector to Sierra 18 is clear of cloaked romulan vessels. This should avoid any mishaps like warping into a cloaked ship. The Sheri, much less her crew, couldn’t take that again.

Our egress from the nebula went exactly as planned. As expected, that’s when things really started heating up. Romulan vessels decloaked across the battlefield. Due to the vessels cloaking and uncloaking in such a rapid manner, even the best science officer would have a devil of a time telling exactly how many Romulan vessels were in the sector. We were able to get a reading on vessel classes. They included: Pveer Class Attack vessels, Pvash Class Heavy Cruiser, Kerchan class Dreadnought, Mosaram Class Warbird, and a Firehawk Class Battle Cruiser. Some of them were around Sierra, others inside the nebula. They were even positioned inside the same nebula we hid in, just as Lieutenant Kapetanaki predicted. Once again, her tactical analysis is perfect. Unfortunately, so were the romulans.

It was almost like they knew we were coming. Their attacks were so precise, almost as if they knew our warp vector. That could only mean that we have a mole somewhere. We’ll have to hunt that bastard down.

As if their hit and run maneuvers weren’t bad enough, they are somehow jamming all ship to ship communications, making it impossible to coordinate our attack. We’re going to have to go off of previous orders; keep together, and make it to the station. We’ll have to stay alive first though.

The romulans have been pounding the hell out of my ship. Shields are holding around 55%. The bridge crew has had a hell of time. Numerous members have sustained injuries, including Commander Princip who will need serious medical attention. I’m fine for the most part, but the rest of the senior staff sustained moderate injuries.

Thanks to some quick thinking by the Tico, we’ve managed to neutralize the effectiveness of the romulan’s cloaking device. In response, they have pretty much given up on the cloaking and moved straight to pure offensive posture. As if that wasn’t enough, romulan forces beam into cargo bay 1 through a hole in our shields. Security is dealing with it.

Things have gone from bad to worse for the Sheridan. We’ve sustained major damage; hull breaches on multiple decks, some of the force fields are not holding. Two torpedo tubes are offline, Shields are down to 15%. To make matters worse, power fulgurations throughout the ship have allowed the Romulans to move more easily throughout the ship. They have made their way to the auxiliary bridge. S’Renn and security teams are in the process of taking it back. In order to slow their advance, I’ve engaged General Quarter IV. There is also a fire on deck 12 that is spreading mostly unchecked. Damage control teams simply have their hands full.

For the taskforce, things have dramatically changed. A massive Klingon vessel has decloaked and begun firing on Romulan forces. I don’t know where the hell they came from, but I’m damn glad they’re here. Their presence puts things on a little more even terms. They romulan jamming signal has been subverted, likely by destroying the ship that was broadcasting it.

It helped turn the tide. We successfully forced the romulans to cloak and withdrawal, though not before they could destroy the marine transportFalkland. That means that fleet is going to have to retake the station. The Sheridan has received orders to fall to back of the formation. Hopefully, it will give us enough of a breather to deal with the problems on our end before they come back.

The security teams were slow to react. They weren’t able to take back the auxiliary bridge before the romulans had hacked into the system and begun rerouting it to the auxiliary bridge. I engaged general quarters IV and flooded deck six with Neurozine gas, but they were prepared for it and wore respirators. Though we were successful at locking out the computer core, and retaking engineering and the battle bridge, unbeknownst to us at the time, the boarding party managed to upload a virus that would later cripple the ship.

While trying to combat the virus, I learned of the situation with Dr. McKenzie and Lieutenant Commander Katzenjammer. Kylara had been on deck 12 assisting in rescue operations when she was severally injured, so much to the point that her baby’s life was at stake. Dr. Lamont performed a risky procedure to transfer the baby from Kylara to Fran. Fran is now carrying Patrick’s and Kylara’s unborn child. Needless to say that this would be mindboggling in the best of times. As usual, the Captain is the last person to learn of events with his crew.

Thanks to a plan developed by Lieutenant Command Katzenjammer, Lieutenant Bravin, and Midshipman Swanson; we were able reboot to LCARS system and clear the virus from the system. It was just in time too. The Romulus returned with a vengeance. The fighting was fierce, but what we heard next was indescribably wonderful. It was a message from Star Fleet Command. A ceasefire was negotiated. The war was over.

Joe negotiated a ceasefire with the commander of the Romulans defending Sierra 18. They agreed to withdrawal from the station. It’s over…

Once the romulans have withdrawn, we will dock at Sierra and begin repairs while we await new orders.

Chief Engineers log:

The layover at Bravo gave us a chance to smooth out some of our lumps and bumps from the shakedown.

It’s a pity that once again the layover was cancelled. So far, it seems that the Sheridan has gone from one mission to another so far with little chance for the crew to really have some quality time.

From what I hear, Chief Harper has been busy. I think I’ll recommend him for a commendation. His work during the main refit deserves at least that much recognition. I also wish him and doctor McKenzie good luck for the future.

On a personal note. I still haven’t spoken to the Captain since… since the incident.

Thinking about it even now, I just want to curl up and die. But there were things he said, later when he came to check I was all right. I don’t know which one of us was more embarrassed, and I know he’s my commanding officer…

No… don’t go there Fran. Keep on track.

All major systems are operating at this time well within the specified parameters. There is a slight fluctuation in the holodeck sub systems, but that appears to be from Lieutenant Hendrix’s current training schedule.

Supplemental

Additional.

The Captain gave me the bridge earlier this shift. Lieutenant Bravin and Midshipman Volaris both reported to me for duty. Bravin seems to have a slight problem with discipline. Hopefully once he gets into a set schedule that will change.

Volaris seems capable. I hope S’Renn can mold him into what we need.

Looking at all the new Midshipmen we took on at Bravo, it seems almost an age since I was one of them. Green and looking for adventure.

Maybe I do need something to get my blood pumping again.

Personal Log

It's been a busy day for the medical staff of the USS Sheridan. The Romulans are tearing us apart. I nearly blacked out due to a blow from a panel flying through the air.

I suppose I should back up a little bit. I was cleaning up around Sickbay, as if there weren't yeomen who could do it for me when I was ordered to the bridge to act as the medic for the time being. When I got there the place was a mess. A fair number of the bridge crew was injured in one way or another, but Commander Princip, Commander Katzenjammer, and Lieutenant Kapetanaki all needed immediate attention. I contacted Sickbay and got in touch with Lieutenant Sokolov who was prepared to take them in. Miraculously, or by some fortunate chance of science, I was able to get a site-to-site transport for the three of them to Sickbay despite our transporters being down. I'll have to talk to an engineer about how that one happened.

As I was scanning the bridge for faint vitals, anyone who needed immediate attention, a panel blew off and hit me in the throat. My throat was swelling, and I was losing oxygen. I was going to attempt to do an emergency beam-out, but I could only gurgle and gasp. I ended up pumping myself with adenosine and tri-ox compound. Strange enough, after recovering from near asphyxiation, I had an attack of paranoia of such magnitude that I thought I had given myself a psychoactive drug by mistake. Just as soon as it had come on, it left me and I was just sitting there stunned. This may all sound really absurd, but I seriously thought something horrible was going to happen, like the ship suddenly being destroyed with one giant explosion.

After all this had taken place I happen to notice a security officer down on the floor. She was suffocating on her own blood. I clear her mouth and performed abbreviated CPR, as archaic as it is, to get her breathing started. When I restored respiration I took her down to Sickbay and gave her a regimen of adenosine and tri-ox compound. I later learned her name is Ensign Read. I'm keeping her sedated so she doesn't wake up exhausted from the experience.

Now I'm just waiting for the next big crisis. I'm patching up a few scratches and bruises and watching over Ensign Read as she sleeps, but for the most part it's just damage control. I'm just concerned about two things: Lieutenant Kapetanaki who escaped from Sickbay after being improperly sedated without the consent of her attending physician, Doctor Sokolov; and I'm concerned about what will happen if and when the ship gets hit hard again. With quite a few key bridge crew taking naps and having their faces rearranged with a dermal regenerator it seems that another wave of attacks on the ship just might render her incapable of performing her duties.

But what the hell do I know? I'm a doctor, not a tactical analyst.
