Personal History

Mirax grew up on a sleepy farming colony, the only daughter of a reformed Orion mercenary and a human doctor, Mirax was forced to cope with bullying regarding her mixed species at school. Her father taught her how to defend herself from bullies. After defending herself well in a fight with a notorious school bully at the age of nine, Mirax was gradually accepted by her peers. Life was good...

Then it was shattered!

When she was twelve, Mirax's parents were brutally murdered by an Orion gang, revenge for the killing of a high-standing crimelord. Mirax went into hiding, stowing away on different ships and travelling around the galaxy stealing food and looking for a place to settle down. When she was seventeen, a Klingon soldier attempted to rape her after returning from battle. Mirax broke his neck, leaving his body in a trash compacter before stealing a shuttle and fleeing the base she was living on. However, she had already attracted the attention of Star Fleet Intelligence, who needed someone who could seduce and bribe their way into the Orion criminal underworld. In order to escape prison for manslaughter, she worked as an undercover sleeper agent, infiltrating different cartels and working for them until the time came for her to sabotage the cartel and eliminate the leader.

When her contract with Star Fleet Intelligence was over five years later, Mirax travelled the galaxy as a mercenary, engaging in small-scale conflicts on various planets, assassinating an occasional corrupt politician, until she met a man named Paul. He was a few years older than her, a fighter pilot travelling on a picket carrier. They engaged in a brief but passionate relationship during which he taught her the fundamental basics of design and engineering – a subject she grew increasingly interested in as their relationship progressed. Using his ties with friends in high places, he managed to get her a place at the Academy, where she went through fast-track marine training and graduated a First Lieutenant. Unfortunately, by the time she had graduated Paul’s contract had expired and he returned home.

Her unit, a free-roaming scout force, was assigned to the USS Philadelphia, FF-6053, where, after the death of the Major in command (ironically a Klingon), she was promoted to Captain and assigned as the unit's new commander. It was on the Philadelpha that she met and fell in love with Jack Phoenix. Their relationship was short but passionate, and his leaving deeply hurt Mirax, causing her and the unit to transfer off-ship. The unit was later broken up, with Mirax being assigned as a weapons instructor at Camp Gibraltar on Mars. While there, she tested new combat armour and weapons, before being selected to join the newly formed strike team Tiger-36.

Mirax was assigned as Alpha Team Lead of Tiger-36, but didn't last long in that position, having been reassigned after her first mission during which she was wounded by falling debris. No longer able to perform in any combat role, Mirax joined the Marine Corps Research and Development Command as a weapons tester where she excelled. Soon after, she was made Deputy Director of the department and assigned to work on the LMAS and HMAS projects, the success of which earned a promotion to Colonel and the position of Director of the Research and Development Command.

Following the retirement of General Jack Bartlett from the position of Director of Special Operations and the general lack of officers suited to the task, Mirax was reassigned to the Director position against her will. Though she did not argue with the two-step promotion that came with it, she was fed up with bureaucracy and accepted the assignment only on the promise that it was temporary. Following the recent conflict with the Romulans; a more suitable and permanent Director was found – Paul. Though she wished to get back to creating rather than administering, she accepted the position of Deputy Director of Special Operations; a position that allowed her to also take up the duties as the division’s Director of Research and Development.
