Mintaka III

Mintaka III is an inhabited planet, and orbits its system's star, Mintaka.

It is the homeworld to the Mintakans, a pre-warp, proto-Vulcan, humanoid species.

In 2366, Federation scientists were observing the Mintakans via a "duckblind" station on the planet.
Unfortunately, their team was exposed to the natives when their holographic generator malfunctioned.
The reactions of the Mintakans were of fear and defense, and the Starfleet team suffered two fatalities, along with several injuries.

During the retrieval done by the USS Enterprise, the people suffered from more cultural contamination.
The Captain was forced to showcase their superior technology to the people, in an effort to show them that the Federation were not gods.
It was only after injuring one of the crew, and seeing their blood, that the Mintakans were convinced of the truth.
