Personal History

Raised by educators, Lein has always had a thirst for knowledge and an incident from his childhood prompted his interest in medicine. Mostly raised in isolation from the greater universe, Lein did not start interacting with alien races until he enrolled in Star Fleet, 2 years after being joined to Meor. The symbiont had extensive experience with other species and a long history of service-oriented roles. The careers of Meor’s previous hosts include a legislator, economic analyst, engineer, military general, exosociologist, and psychologist. Lein brings all of Meor’s experience to his current role.

Lein is a career officer, having served several roles in his tenure with Star Fleet including Medical officer aboard the USS Republic, CMO aboard the USS Yeager, FO aboard the Gettysburg, and CO of the USS Drake, but his love has always been medicine. During his multiple tours of duty, many traumatic events have shaped his life. He has been kidnapped and mentally assaulted, he is the steward of a Vulcan katra, an alien being has possessed him, and he was visited by a future host of Meor, among other things.

During his command of the USS Drake, Lein was injured by a parasitic relative of the Trill symbionts which resulted in his being placed in stasis for several years until an appropriate treatment plan could be administered. Using Borg modified nanoprobes, scientists at the Symbiosis Commission were able to treat the injuries of both Lein and Meor, allowing them to remind joined. Curing only the symbiont would have resulted in the death of Lein and would have had debilitating side effects for Meor – an unacceptable risk.

With the successful completion of treatment, extensive psychological testing and retraining, Commander Lein Meor has returned to Star Fleet as Chief Medical Officer aboard the USS Ticonderoga.

Short-Term Goals: Rebuild his life and Star Fleet career after being in stasis and continuing to explore the universe as a member of a well-trained and cohesive crew
Long-Term Goals: Become the head of Star Fleet Medical
Personality: Originally fun loving, outgoing and adventurous, Lein has become more reserved after the SB289 incident. Lein is comfortable in a leadership role, but he has a tendency to minimize his concern for individuals and operates from a concern for the greater good. Socially, he is fun loving and easy to get along with. When working he is responsible, organized and professional. However, when under stress, he can become authoritative, aloof, and condescending – traits common for joined Trill
Sense of Humor: Lein enjoys dry, witty, and sarcastic humor. Due to having 400+ years of memories, people will sometimes find him laughing at things not outwardly humorous but when he is asked about this behavior there is usually a story behind it
Phobias: He remains skittish around Ullians and has a healthy phobia of insects; Trill physiology is extremely sensitive to toxins
Likes: He loves to be challenged, learning and experiencing new things that expand his understanding of medicine and the universe. He also enjoys Terran, Vulcan and Andorian cuisine
Dislikes: Lein has a low tolerance for ignorance and overbearing personalities as well as crewmembers that operate against his wishes. Also after spending time with Ens. Harry Hawke, Lein has a strong aversion to roller coasters
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Patients who are not willing to cooperate with his instructions. He has taken extreme measures to ensure an uncooperative patient’s health
Bad Habits or Vices: Lein must have one or two cups of coffee with cream and sweetener every morning
Achievements: Being promoted to Captain and given command of the USS Drake by FAdm. Jon Beckett prior to the CINC’s retirement and subsequent election to the presidency
Disappointments: The loss of any patient or crewmember under his care or command
Illnesses: No serious illnesses, but many injuries, all mentioned in the above bio
Strengths: Quick to learn and a desire to help others, he also possesses good interpersonal skills and makes friends easily. He is an extremely dedicated physician and, though he may not show it, cares deeply for his patients and their wellbeing
Weaknesses: Occasionally jumps the gun and can be arrogant, condescending, and aloof. He also takes the loss of patients personally
Fears: That he will be unable to fulfill his duty as a Trill host and not adding to Meor’s experience in a meaningful way or having his actions result in the loss or death of the symbiont
Prejudices: Due to his experiences, Lein is skittish of Ullians
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Overcoat with complimentary shirt, usually in solid colors, and black or tan pants and boots. Fashionably conservative.
Distinguishing Features: Trill spots beginning at forehead ending at feet and a scar on his left shin.
Pets: None
Friends: Kris Yurel became Lein’s best friend during primary school and they were inseparable until their graduation from secondary school at which point Kris and Lein went in different directions. Kris is now an organizational consultant for a mining company based on Trill; he travels a great deal, and is rarely in one place very long. However, the two speak to one another as often as they can

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Lein’s most painful experience was being abducted by Revis, a Ullian, and having his and Meor’s memories invaded in an effort to uncover a conspiracy over 100 years old. Subsequently, he was thrown into a confused and depressed state, which was resolved through counseling, now he is able to deal with the stress and memories of captivity and torture. However, Lein does not like to discuss this area of his life with those not involved
Best Time: Lein thoroughly enjoyed his time at Star Fleet Medical where he met and befriended fellow students from all over the known galaxy and made important career contacts with professors. His personal thirst for knowledge combined with the symbiont’s resulting in him being engrossed in all things related to his studies
Most Crucial Experience: The integration of T’Nev’s katra into Meor’s memories has improved Lein’s mental acuity, honed, and enhanced his physical abilities. Along with a new lifetime of memories he also gained several Vulcan talents, for example, he is now able to perform the ‘nerve pinch’ maneuver, seldom mastered by non-Vulcans. In addition, he has developed more effective meditation techniques that have helped him get over the remnants of psychological stress associated with being abducted by Revis
Role Model: Lein’s role model is an instructor from Star Fleet Medical, Dr. Daniel Thompson. Daniel is an intelligent and dedicated doctor committed to learning, as well as, teaching medicine. Dr. Meor was able to serve on several research projects with Dr. Thompson including enhancement of testing procedures for the developmentally challenged population and assisting with organizing the annual Star Fleet Medical Conference. Lein gained valuable knowledge and experience from performing these duties
