Personal History
Jeremy and Jo Lynn met in their sophomore year of high school in English class. Jo Lynn was being harassed by a couple of the other students when Jeremy stepped in and sent them packing. From that day forward Jeremy was never very far from Jo Lynn. They both attended Purdue University in Indiana, Jo Lynn majoring in nursing and Jeremy in chemical engineering. They married shortly after graduation and settled into life together.
Children came years later, as both had decided to settle into careers and enjoy each others company. While their first son Erik brought immense joy to their lives, nothing could have prepared the small family for the arrival of John and Luca. These two were born identical twins, with John being older by three minutes. As the boys grew, John and Erik joined forces against Luca with everything from insects to fist fights. As Micah cam along, Jeremy saw a great need to teach Luca to stand up for himself. Jeremy described this as protecting one's honor – a lesson Luca never forgot or took lightly. One other lesson Jeremy instilled in his sons was the importance of work ethic. “Work is work and play is play” was Jeremy's motto. Luca tended to spend most of his time with his mother, where he learned about compassion and consequences of one's actions.
As Luca began school, the pressures of social life became apparent to his parents. Luca was always rather shy, but was good-natured and a pleasure to be around once one got to know him. The greatest event in his young life was meeting Joe Watkins and Amanda Birch. Amanda was one of the first people to stand up for Luca at school, and was the deciding factor for Jeremy to teach Luca the value of honor. The all met in first grade when Joe was picking on Luca and Amanda stepped in to stop the fight. Joe confessed to being dared to fight Luca. Joe, Amanda, and Luca became inseparable, even into high school and college. One of their favorite activities was to recreate old fantasy novels. Joe and Luca would be knights and rescue Amanda from the evil dragons. As they got older they would spend time reading the novels and writing their own versions.
As Luca entered college to study animal physiology, he encountered his first brush with death. His father had been working for the chemical plant for years, and was very proud of his work. The company had been experimenting with new chemicals one week and there was a container leak. Jeremy happened to be passing by the room with the leak as the container finally exploded. Luca had just come home from a day of uneventful classes when the call came in from the chemical plant. Jeremy was in a coma with severe chemical burns on his arms and torso. The family waited anxiously for news. Two weeks after the incident Jeremy came out of the coma, but there were weeks and months of surgery and recovery ahead. To this day Jeremy can not work and still tries to regain some strength and mobility in his hands.
This tragic event made Luca step back and evaluate his life. He began to realize that life was short and unpredictable. He set out with a new goal in mind: to take advantage of every opportunity and proceed to learn as much as he possibly could. This goal led to Star Fleet – what better way to see the vastness of space and experience everything there was to offer. He also realized that none of these experiences would be worthwhile if he could not add his twist to things. Luca set out to learn about diplomatic policy in order to change the idea of space – make it more accessible to everyone and to incorporate the beliefs of his favorite knights into this vastness.

Short-Term Goals: Luca hopes to further his knowledge of animals as well as diplomatic procedures. Although he had little knowledge of diplomacy he wanted to learn in order to exact some change or provide a new perspective in the distant future
Long-Term Goals: Luca desires to settle down at some point, possibly with someone he meets in Star Fleet. A family life was something his mother instilled in him from an early age. He plans to be involved in the Federation Council at many stages throughout his life, particularly after his Star Fleet career.

Achievements: While he enjoyed no major achievements, Luca learned to overcome many obstacles including part of his shy nature, his brother's torment, and his father's accident.

Pets: Currently Two dogs reside at the McKenzie house at the moment: a boxer named Judd and a terrier, Lucy. These two have been together for three years and remain as Jeremy's guard dogs, but are as much Luca's as anyone's
Friends: Joe Watkins and Amanda Birch are the two people Luca relates to the most. They know each other's feelings better than John knows Luca and can fix any problem before it gets out of hand. Joe and Amanda have decided to join Star Fleet pending the end of their degrees.
