M-rays are a form of radiation that can be used to negate areas in force fields.
Historical Encounters:
- In 2267, a self-proclaimed god surrounded the USS Enterprise, NCC-1701 with a force field made to resemble an enormous hand. This field blocked communications, transporters, and weapons fire.
Science officers generated strong charges of M-rays, on selected wave lengths, to break the field. By shooting through the resulting holes in the field, they were able to destroy the source of the being's power, thus freeing the ship.
