Liberation of Benzar

The Liberation of Benzar took place during the Dominion War, and freed the planet Benzar from the Dominion.

Benzar fell quickly to the Dominion during the war, and was under Dominion and Cardassian control by 2374. Luckily, it was liberated later in the same year, after it declared itself on the side of the Federation and its allies.

The Romulans were largely to thank for Benzar's freedom, though there were some concerns among the Federation whether or not the planet would stay under Romulan control.

The Dominion held out for only three hours before the Romulan Empire claimed victory. Romulan forces took thousands of prisoners, and captured several enemy starships.

Thousands of Benzites were killed in the week it took before Romulan troops secured the planet.
