Personal History

Lenak was born in the city of ShiKahr on the planet Vulcan. His father was absent since before his birth and his mother is very secretive about the identity of Lenak's father. Lenak's mother, Larea, worked at the Vulcan Science Academy and this kept her very busy. It left Lenak with a very fragmented childhood, he was brought up primarily by his nanny, Laihev. Lenak was a lonely child, he had very few school friends. His only companion was his best friend, Kivl.

Fortunately, Lenak excelled in his studies, proving himself to be an intelligent and dedicated student with a keen interest in medicine. At the age of 18 he applied and was accepted into the Vulcan Medical Institute to study medicine. During his eight years at the Institute he trained to become a qualified surgeon. During Lenak's time at the Institute he proved himself to be academically successful, but he still struggled with the social aspect of Vulcan life, he found it difficult to gain and maintain friendships. This led Lenak to grow to avoid social situations and instead he buried himself in his studies. Upon his graduation at the age of 26 he managed to secure a position as a junior surgeon at a large hospital in his home city of ShiKahr.

Whilst working as a surgeon on Vulcan, Lenak developed an interest in the field of medical research. He found he had a strong desire and a keen aptitude for developing new techniques and procedures that would improve the health and wellbeing of society. In particular, he loved to study mortality and the reversal of the ageing process, he co-authored several papers on these subjects.

Lenak's marriage to his wife, T'lai, was arranged when he was a small boy. The wedding occurred when Lenak was 36. Their first child was born soon after, a boy named Saran. Lenak's relationship with his wife is very complicated. It is a loveless marriage and they stay together only for the sake of their offspring.

At the age of 39 Lenak was offered a position as a researcher at a prominent medical research laboratory in the city of London on Earth. Whilst he loved his job as a surgeon, he could not pass up the opportunity to pursue his true passion in life which was medical research. He took the position and moved to Earth with his wife and young son. With few friends and an estranged relationship with his mother, he found it quite easy to leave his home world behind.

It took Lenak a few years to adjust to life on Earth and he still found it difficult to relate to others socially. It was during this time that Lenak's second child was born, a girl named Lera. After eight years working as a researcher Lenak began to find working in a lab a bore. He had exhausted many of the avenues his research could take. He decided the best way to further his research goals would be to launch a vessel to travel the stars to explore new worlds and find new ways to advance the medical proficiency of the Federation. Unfortunately, he could find no one that was willing to fund such a costly endeavor. Lenak reasoned that the only way to further his research was to join Starfleet as a medical officer. It would allow him to work with patients, which he enjoyed, as well as pursue his keen interest in discovering new and innovative medical technologies by way of engaging in long term research projects aboard a Federation starship. Lenak was accepted into Starfleet Academy at the age of 47. His wife and two children relocated with him to San Francisco from London.
