This is a recreated Kraav, mainly because I wanted to reuse the BIO and explore a different career path for him.
Point of divergence is when he was originally assigned to Columbia--instead he was assigned to Star Base Delta.

Personal History

Kraav was born on Carraya IV, prior to the time when Carraya was a Federation Member world, shortly after the Dominion War. The planet had left Romulan control and had become a mosaic of several cultures and species from the Alpha and Beta quadrants. Shortly after he came of age (14), the planet became a Federation member world, and Kraav was formally made a Federation citizen. Two years later he left the homeworld.

Kraav lived for a few years on Acamar where he met a young (she was only 38 at the time) Vulcan named T'Sal. The two became close friends and for years she mentored him in the ways of Vulcan meditation and logic, helping him to curb some of his mor violent tendencies. He used the meditation to become closer to his inner self, and also to T'Sal. They melded on his 19th birthday, and it was an experience he'd never forget. It was also when he discovered that they had mutual feelings for one another. Both ignored these feelings for several more years, going their separate ways, as she was a Star Fleet officer and reassigned elsewhere and he entered medical school on Bajor.

Kraav spent seven years studying medicine and stopped just short of becoming a certified doctor. He ended up very skilled as a field medic and in light surgery, and oddly specialized in oral surgery and dental work, although he was very good at other aspects of emergency surgery as well. He technically is not a doctor so does not operate, but can assist and perform the duties of a nurse or a medical assistant when needed. He enjoys medicine, and is not afraid to 'unofficially' help those he can, especially in the area of dentistry; but he cannot prescribe medicine or practice as a doctor.

Kraav met back up with T'Sal when he visited Vulcan after leaving medical school. He'd always been a tinkerer and had got a job as an apprentice engineer working on Vulcan power distribution systems and defensive arrays. A 'natural' at handling complex energy fields, which they found made him very useful at tuning forcefields and other types of shaped fields. He ended up attending his first section of Engineering school on Vulcan, and finally cemented his biological relationship with T'Sal. The two became close over the ensuing three years, as T'Sal made her way up the ladder working at the Federation Embassy on Vulcan, and it was only when she was reassigned that their relationship ended--or so they thought. Kraav had asked her to take an oath of marriage, and she told him it was not 'logical', and he of course could not argue, for he knew her feelings. She departed and he tried to move on.

Kraav moved to Tellar, where he went to work for a few years for a mercenary group who dealt with corporate and private entities. They provided R&D support for a variety of weapons and explosives systems, as well as power systems. Kraav's knack for power systems and shaped fields quickly catapulted him to the top of the organization where he headed up R&D on some very interesting weapons systems, some of which were employed by Star Fleet (and some by other powers) over the coming years. During this time he also went back to school and by the time he reached his 31st birthday he held a doctorate in "Advanced Shaped Power Systems Design Theory". T'Sal visited him during this time, and their relationship continued, although the informality of it always bothered Kraav.

It wasn't until his 32nd birthday that he found himself on Earth and entering Star Fleet Academy, old for a Klingon to be embarking upon a new career. T'Sal had encouraged him into it, and he originally joined because she was stationed on Earth and he thought it would bring them closer. She was shortly thereafter reassigned to a ship to combat the Borg, and he was pushed through the academy, taking an extra two years because of 'disciplinary' issues. He graduated five years ago as a Midshipman and was assigned various postings, never quite fitting in.

With his promotion to Ensign, he began focusing more on his Star Fleet career. T'Sal and he have not seen one another for three years at this point, and he is focused on his career and his service to Star Fleet. He was surprised to find himself assigned to a brand new ship, as he tended to be assigned to ships that would need his attention in repair and maintenance.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Engineering: Energy Field Theory
Academy Minor(s): Medicine, Security
Hobbies and Pastimes: Meditation (Vulcan style), Explosive devices--creating and disabling (yes it's a hobby to him). He also likes to sing country music.
Long-Term Goals: To serve until he can retire comfortably and then possibly become an independent contractor in weapons systems design.
Personality: Kraav tends to be dry, almost Vulcan in some ways, unsurprising with his history. The one time this breaks is when he's drinking. Then he becomes a very boisterous and loud comedian--problem being that most people don't understand Klingon humor...
Sense of Humor: When Kraav has had a few drinks (and even synthehol will bring this out) he tends to have a very KLINGON sense of humor, much to the distress of some around him.
Phobias: Fear? Fear is not Klingon... unless it's fear of small things with 8 legs... but that's a different topic... that's not fear... that's... hatred, yes... hatred. Kraav has no fears. He just dislikes certain things... like spiders. And small furry creatures that make soft purring sounds. He also 'dislikes' lizards and snakes... the latter causing him to 'dislike' them enough to leave an area where they are, or get very aggressive.
Likes: Kraav took a liking to Terran country music from the early 21st century when he visited Earth. He was found, on his off weekends, to be in replica bars either in holodecks or in some of the nostalgic places in North America; and he took to singing. He won a few amateur competitions.
Dislikes: Kraav is slightly xenophobic. He is uncomfortable around people other than Klingons, Humans, and Vulcans; and is very nervous and outwardly abrupt around Cardassians, Ferengi, and Romulans; and other non-Federation and non-Klingon races. He seems to have a major problem with Gorn, although he's not sure why... it may relate to his phobias that he doesn't actually have. He also dislikes small furry creatures.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Mainly people who talk too much. If they are talking then they aren't working or contributing in most cases. He hates meetings and gatherings of people.
Bad Habits or Vices: One word: Warnog. It's good as a nightcap; it's good with lunch and dinner; and it's great with breakfast. He tries to keep some handy at most times... although he rarely becomes intoxicated.
Achievements: NEARLY completing medical school. Obtaining his doctorate in Advanced Shaped Power Systems Design Theory.
Disappointments: T'Sal--or his lack of ability to cement things with her. He's mostly given up on it now, and considers it a failure on his part.
Illnesses: Kraav is allergic to animal fur; and also suffered from Alavian Flu when he was a child.
Strengths: Analytical thinking in matters of power systems and engineering. Ability to visualize energy fields and know how to reconfigure them almost out of instinct.
Weaknesses: Klingons do not have weaknesses. Other than allergy to furry creatures. And being slightly ADD. But no, no weaknesses.
Prejudices: Indirect people. Be direct, be honest, or be dead.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: He’s rarely out of uniform—even when off-duty. When he is, it's typically some sort of loose-fitting attire in dull grays or earth tones, tending toward brown and reddish colors.
Distinguishing Features: Kraav has a long scar on the side of his neck. Most assume it's some sort of battle injury, but in fact the 'battle' was with a hot piece of shrapnel on an exploding plasma conduit over a decade ago.
Pets: None
Friends: No close friends, although many friends and associates through his careers.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Not getting T'Sal to commit to him.
Best Time: Being awarded his doctorate. He swelled with pride.
Most Crucial Experience: Deciding to change his life's direction and join Star Fleet at the ripe young age of 32.
Role Model: Captain John Becker, a retired Star Fleet Engineer. Kraav read about his work during his third year after graduation, and it inspired him to focus more on his career. Kraav met Becker once at a symposium, although Becker probably wouldn't remember the enthusiastic Klingon's questions about shaped field weapons.
