Personal History
Despite being born years after the Brikar-Federation War, Brocor's early years were filled with a penchant for violence, both towards his fellow Brikar and other races. A regular brawler, he'd constantly utilise his strength, size and seemingly-impenetrable rocky skin to overcome his opponents with sheer strenght and brutality.
Then came the time for his traditional Brikar skin-shedding ceremony, the moment when his life started to change for the better. In a rare case of circumstance, his adolescent skin didn't come off cleanly like most, but rather in hard, painful chunks. It was the first time Brocor had really experienced pain, and it was an eye-opener - was this really what he had been so eager to inflict upon others?
He left his home of Brikar soon after, aiming to never return until the embarassment of his shedding was either forgotten, or he was in a better mindset not to be bothered by it. With nowhere else to go, Brocor took the first trip to Earth.
From there, he backpacked across the world, taking in the sights, sounds and multitude of different cultures. Despite the differences, the one thing he always noticed was the potential for good in everyone, and the peaceful coexistance they all seemed to share. And nowhere was this more evident than in the remote Tibetan mountain temples. He spent several years studying under the elders there, and a calmer, peaceful Brocor left his old life behind.
He decided to join Star Fleet's security more out of a sense of responsibility than a desire for conflict; his belief in karma urged him to take any action possible to make up for all the pain and suffering he had inflicted in his brawling years. And he maintains that mindset to this day.
Despite this mindet and overly-pacifist approach to security, Brocor's time in the Academy wasn't an easy one; if it wasn't his presence as a Brikar being negatively viewed amongst his peers (whom, it seemed, weren't entirely ready to accept a Brikar after the wars like they had the Klingons), then it was the frustration of his instructors who just couldn't seem to understand his methods. Nevertheless, he perservered and graduated with distinction, and is ready to begin his career as a Star Fleet officer - not to prove himself to anyone, but to balance out his life and, perhaps, the cosmic scales on a whole.
Personality Profile
Academy Major(s): Security Procedures, Investigation, Interrogation
Academy Minor(s): Diplomacy, Criminal Psychology, Heavy Weapons Training
Hobbies and Pastimes: Attending his zen garden, studying various belief systems, meditation.
Short-Term Goals: To always find the best solution to a situation, preferably the least
violent one.
Long-Term Goals: To attain any form of command position.
Personality: Stoic, sagely, exuding an aura of constant calm. This makes his darker moments
- especially during interrogations or times of intimidation - all the more alarming.
Sense of Humor: Wry; he is secretly amused at the reaction his mere appearance and presence
has on those around him, for they judge him without knowing his true, gentle nature.
Phobias: That his gravity-compensator bandoliers could break down at any moment, dragging
him to a practical standstill, sluggish and useless.
Likes: Achieving a peaceful solution to any conflicts.
Dislikes: People who judge him solely on his intimidating appearance.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: When he (rarely) gets injured - he views it as frustrating and a sign of
weakness
Bad Habits or Vices: He willingly abstains from such things.
Achievements: Being accepted into the Academy despite uneasy feelings on both sides.
Disappointments: His violent, brawling past.
Illnesses: None
Strengths: Amazingly strong (well, in comparison to other races), invulnerable to energy
weapons unless on highest setting and maintained fire. Cuts an intimidating figure, an
advantage he utilizes in interrogations.
Weaknesses: Becomes sluggish in combat when his compensator bandoliers are deactivated.
Fears: Of losing his self-control, that he will allow the warrior within to take over,
clouding his mind with bloodlust.
Prejudices: Only his hereditary dislike for Klingons, which he strives to suppress through
meditation and self-discipline.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Simple, modest robes in Buddhist/hermit style.
Distinguishing Features: 'Third Eye' symbol on forehead. He also wears two compensator belts
as bandoliers, to which he also straps small arms, medals, supplies, PADD, etc.
Pets: Songbirds
Friends: Harak Norsh, a neighbouring Brikar male who happens to share a birthday with
him.
Personal Paradigm Shifts
Most Painful Experience: Shedding his outer skin as part of the Brikar maturity ceremony. On
rare occassions, such as his, the shedding can be stiff, snapping off in painful chunks.
Acceptance into Star Fleet Academy, an open door through which he can start his
new life.
Best Time: Acceptance into Star Fleet Academy, an open door through which he can start his
new life.
Most Crucial Experience: His pilgrimage to the mountains of Tibet. He won't speak much of
what happened there, but it's changed his life dramatically ever since.
Role Model: He can't choose just one, for there are many men and women who have met life's
conflicts with an admirable attitude of nonviolence, peace and kindness.
Referrer: Returning player, new character
