Personal History

Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, he was so large at birth that his mother never fully recovered from the delivery. Growing up, it was evident that he would become one of the largest Russians to walk in the country; and with good reason, he was not human. With his parents originally from a Klingon colony, they realized that they did not want their son to be wrapped around the concept of the Klingon warrior ideology. In front of everyone, his father stripped himself of his honor, his house, and renounced his rank and status. Upon leaving the chamber, he and his pregnant wife went on a transport and took the next flight to Earth; little did they know that the transport would land in St. Petersburg. With what money he had, Vladimir's father got a small, VERY small house, enough to fit the three of them and acres upon acres of untouched land; the ability to home school his child; get a job as a construction worker; and register as Russian citizens under different names. Upon reaching adulthood, Vladimir's life was anything more than stable. Because his parents never told him about his Klingon heritage, he did not know a single word of Klingon or know about the ways of the Klingon.

On his 1st birthday, his mother finally died from complications due to the delivery, and his father died when he became an adult and enlisted in the military. He refused to mention exactly what happened, only that with his last breath his father told him a secret that he has held all his life. His superiors noted Vladimir’s body to quickly adapt and to be very muscular, and refused his request to be in a non-combatant division. Instead they put him in the infantry carrying the squad based weapons. During his first few years, he was considered one of the toughest soldiers in the Federation. When his unit was visited by a Klingon unit for advanced hand to hand combat exercises, they saw Vladimir and began to laugh at him. Only being able to speak Russian and English, the other Klingons laughed at him mentioning that his body size is nothing compared to a true Klingon warrior. Vladimir wouldn’t have reacted if it wasn’t for the fact that the young fool said something no Russian dared to speak unless he was willing to put up a fight.

That statement was quickly reversed as Vladimir’s raw power and skill using his hands alone crushing ribs with a punch made him an honorable adversary. When they left, Vladimir saw his human comrades and remembered his visitors and his own body; and remembering something that his father once told him. Later on though, he was able to settle for his one love: engineering. Being placed as a combat engineer, he was put in the leadership role when he did not have the personality to be “open” as a leader should be. With his heavy Russian accent, his knack for engineering, and the recommendation from the Russian government, he was sent to Star Fleet Academy.

After graduating from Star Fleet Academy; against all odds, Vladimir was ordered to go to the USS Enterprise. He understood that it was a big ship and that it would be bigger than he could imagine. What he thought would be hard was he would be on a starship filled with marines as well as pilots. Even though he is a rated pilot, and he had full on combat experience in the army back home, he couldn’t help but feel an old feeling inside him that his trip, his career, and his tour in Star Fleet, on the USS Enterprise, would be probably the most interesting first tour of duty he has ever experienced.

While serving aboard the USS Enterprise, Vladimir had suffered numerous injuries after 72 Cardassian voles attacked him while he was fixing a damaged nacelle. The result of the accident left Vladimir even more horribly scarred across his body and a giant phaser burn over his heart where the Mother Vole bit down, including one down each eye. The result of that attack left Vladimir needing two ocular implants. After the incident, Vladimir found his first love, Elizabeth Rose. Sadly, his sense of duty overrode his sense of love and while he was on an away mission, Elizabeth was accidentally shot by the Chief Tactical Officer acting as Commanding Officer. She died in Doctor Dregs' arms, knowing there was nothing he could do to save her. After being double promoted to Lieutenant and being awarded various medals, he was transferred to the USS Dauntless.

Unknown to him, Vladimir would be offered the Chief Engineer position. During the shake down cruise, Vladimir would be come professionally, as well as personally attached to Commander Julia Nielson. After the Tekna mission, Vladimir took Julia along with him to restore the honor of his father and mother and officially join the House. During that time, Vladimir's personal feelings for Julia went to breaking point. When Vladimir returned to her after he killed his father's twin brother, who was responsible for everything, Julia and Vladimir professed their love for each other, swore they would never leave each and shared a kiss he held for who knows how long. Because of both Julia's and Vladimir's lack of Klingon custom, that is all it took for a informal Klingon wedding by mutual consent. It was reinforced by Vladimir's Grandfather, Mar, observing it and confirming to both Julia and Vladimir that they were indeed, legally married as far as the Great House of Antaak, and the Klingon Empire were concerned. Officially though, Star Fleet is oblivious to the marriage.

What has been confirmed by Star Fleet is that Vladimir obtained a B'Rel class Bird of Prey that has been identified as the Shturmovik. The weapons have been reduced to the highest civilian regulations and the speed has been cut to a maximum warp 6. In all, the Shturmovik wouldn't stand a chance against a heavily armed shuttle, and the weapons were only designed for self defense. When returning to Saint Petersburg aboard the Shturmovik, he met up with his old Russian comrades in arms. It was there that he finally gave the Klingon howl over his parent's new grave, sending both of his parents to Klingon paradise that they deserved. Afterwards, he realized that he missed Julia as company, and when both Vladimir and Julia came back aboard the Dauntless, eventually, the two consummated their marriage.

During his off time, Vladimir had earned high levels of educational degrees, and during his tenure in Star Fleet, he has reported and authored many technical journals that benefit the Aerospace Programs in Russia. Upon receiving a letter from the Technical University in Moscow for his accomplishments, he is being awarded a doctorate degree in Aerospace Engineering. Also, during his downtime thanks to Julia, he has learned how to surf, go sledding and did many things that as a boyfriend, he is completely new to.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: When Vladimir turned 16 and came back hunting, his father Lenin told Vladimir that his name is a fake, he is a Klingon, and that he cannot explain why he didn’t tell Vladimir when he was younger. Before he got a chance to ask his father, Lenin raised Vladimir’s rifle and twisted it in just the right way that not only did the safety disengaged, but also positioned Vladimir’s finger on the trigger. Giving a definite pull, Lenin used Vladimir’s rifle kill himself. To this day, Vladimir has always blamed himself for the death of his father, even though it was ruled “Involuntary Assisted Suicide”; purely on the fact that Vladimir could not willingly assist his father to kill himself. In Vladimir’s eyes however, he should have been charged with murder. Even though he went through combat and had seen his best friends die and restored his parent's honor and had forgiven himself of what happened, it is still the most painful experience he experienced to date.
Best Time: After the fight with the young Klingon. Vladimir and his old squad banded together to talk about what happened earlier that afternoon with the fight that left the young Klingon needing major surgery in order to put him back together. It was that one time where Vladimir felt he was able to fit in, where he finally understood that his Klingon ancestry meant next to nothing to him. Vladimir is what he is. He is a soldier, a warrior, an engineer, and most importantly a comrade. That whole night drinking away vodka and having a fun time with his friends meant more to him then even gaining a position in Star Fleet. Vladimir didn’t feel human however, and that was to be expected. Vladimir did however feel something that no one has given him before, and he doubts that anyone else can give him: the feeling of being wanted.
Most Crucial Experience: Vladimir’s old squad was visited by a group of Klingon warriors to instruct the Russian infantry about advanced hand to hand fighting outside Volgograd. Vladimir, who was not part of the squad only stood and watched the Klingons intently. And there in his face did he find out the secret of his ancestry and what his father explained to him long ago. It wasn’t until a young Klingon provoked Vladimir to fight at first in Klingon, with Vladimir not knowing what was being said. His comrade who also spoke Klingon replied, “He called your mother a whore.” Without missing a beat, Vladimir attacked the unsuspecting Klingon with a solid punch to the ribs, the sound of them cracking and the Klingon spitting out blood. Teeth went flying and his face became disfigured with Vladimir’s destructive punches. With the young warrior gasping for breath, Vladimir shouted ended the fight with a final punch to the stomach, the young warrior fell and coughed up so much blood that he may die from it. Looking up at the other Klingon warriors, he shouted out in Russian which his comrade translated, “I may be a Klingon by race, but I am not a Klingon by choice."
Role Model: Joseph Stalin II. No one in the history of Russia ever bore that name until his parents decided to name him after the Soviet Union leader back in the 20th century, and he fit the name well. Being the most ruthless Drill Instructor in the whole army, and later on the ruthless of squad leaders, Stalin II took no pity on his men giving him anything less them above-maximum performance. In his off time though, Joseph was just another one of the guys, a real father figure in Vladimir’s eyes. It was also Joseph who Vladimir last spoke too before he left the country. His last words mimicked his father’s. “Remember, never forget you are Vladimir Gregory Komoscov, never forget you are a Russian, and as long as in your heart you know who you are, the motherland shall always be with you.” He was more than a friend, or even a squad leader; to the men of 4th squad, he has always been the father they have always looked for
