Personal History

Born to Star Fleet parents, Fran was brought up by her grandparents, before she joined her parents aboard the USS Homogony at the age of 7.

When she was old enough, she joined the academy where she studied as an engineer just as her parents had.

While at the academy, she embarked on an affair with one of her instructors, which ended badly for her.

Thankfully, her parents had instilled in her their love for the discipline of engineering that they themselves had, and it through her burying herself in her studies which got her over the break-up and it was of little surprise when Fran graduated in the top five percent of the class, though she had not achieved the top of the class, she was contented with being assigned to the Starship H.

The H, named after the nick name of one of the foremost commanders of the Earths 20th century Falkland campaign Lt Colonel Herbert “H” Jones, was one of Star Fleet’s ubiquitous Sun-Tsu class destroyers, and Fran worked diligently as a member of her crew until the vessel was decommissioned.

She transferred to Mars for a short while awaiting her next assignment when she was assigned to the unnamed Sun-Tsu refit vessel designated 4486.

Three weeks prior to the outbreak of hostilities with the Romulans, the 4486 was ordered to Starbase 157 to begin a shakedown cruise. When hostilities broke out in the now infamous Battle of Starbase 157, Fran had to get the 4486 (Later renamed Sheridan) up and running in an extremely short time. Going from a vessel on shakedown to fully operational warship in a matter of hours.

Up until the outbreak of the hostilities with the Romulans, Fran had been unofficially told that she would be made Chief engineer. Upon the arrival of the crew of the original Sheridan, there was some minor friction with several of the crew members who transferred across. When Fran was told that the Chief engineer of the 4086 was going to take charge, she was extremely bitter over the incident.

However, she never got to meet the Andorian officer as he was killed during some inter ship action, and she was later given the position of Chief Engineer regardless.

The war with the Romulans saw the Sheridan move from its preferred role of exploration and security details to escort duties and major engagements.

During this period, Fran was promoted to ships second officer, where she began to spend more time on the bridge as well as trade off some of her duties to shift leaders down in main engineering.

It wasn’t until the final engagement of the war, when the Sheridan was assigned as part of a combined Federation / Mirak Taskforce to retake Sierra-18 which had been taken by Romulan forces early during the fighting that Fran was finally forced into a command position.

She’d received an injury early in the engagement that required her to be taken for medical attention. While in Sickbay, the CMO who had been on the lower decks, was brought in severely injured. The problem was, the CMO was pregnant.

An emergency operation was performed to transfer the fetus with an improvised transporter into Fran’s womb.

It was a success, but moments later, Commander Princip the Andorian First Officer was brought in with life threatening injuries.

Fran had no choice as she saw it but to ignore the orders of the doctors and return the bridge where she saw out the end of the conflict as acting First Officer.

The end of the war brought relief to everyone. Fran however was placed on medical leave for the duration of the Sheridan’s stop over and repair as Sierra-18 in the following weeks while she and the baby were kept under observation.

Upon reactivation, Fran was reassigned from Chief Engineer of the Sheridan. A scenario which she hadn’t taken well, until she was told she had been assigned as the ships permanent new First Officer. Complete with all the privileges and headaches it entailed.

A couple of months after this, Fran entered into a relationship with her Commanding Officer, Captain Quillian Dramar. A practice generally frowned upon by Command, they have done their best to keep a low profile, though there are some friends and members of their crew whom they have entrusted this information with.

On return to Starbase Charlie after a mission which resulted in Quillian being placed into a coma due to a psionic attack, Fran received the notification from a family friend that both her parents had been killed in a shuttle accident.

Since she was acting Captain during this period, she had to bury this devastating information deep inside, until she was almost relieved from duty by Sheridan’s security chief.

Once Quillian returned to duty Fran has had time to grieve, but hasn’t taken advantage to this due to her own stubbornness.

Though other members of the crew who have become aware of this information are doing what the can to make her see straight.
