Personal History

Early Years

Karl grew up in rural area of Munich, Germany to two loving parents. The early years were quiet and normal for a young boy and his family. His sister Judith was born three years later, and the typical family experience kept chugging along.

When Karl was in grade school he met and befriended who would become his best friend. Joseph Zymes. The two boys had many common interests, one was they both wanted to grow up and be something big, and the other was their interest in history. Life kept moving along until that faithful day. When Karl was around the age of 12….

The Dark Years

One day in Early May when Karl was 12, he comes home to find out that his mother has passed away in an accident. She was hit head on by a reckless driver. She died on the scene, and even though the other driver was gravely hurt, and was almost crippled for life, they managed to stay alive. Karl’s heart sank and he fell into a depression.

Things didn’t get any better from there as William, Karl’s Father, sunk into a deep depression, and begun to ignore his children. He’d go out and drink night after night, and he would take frustration out of his kids telling them harsh and hurtful comments. Karl did everything he could to protect his little sister.

One day, when Karl was 16, Jay (Joseph) was at his place, and caught Karl’s Father on a bad day. William prepared to attack the young teenager, and Karl stepped in and for the first time in his life he threw a punch that bloodied his father’s nose. William prepared to attack, but stopped and just muttered. “No son of mine ever strikes their elders.” Karl in return said, without thinking. “No father of mine strikes a child out of anger and frustration. That’s just like the barbarians of the middle ages act!” William and Karl had the worst and last major verbal fight in their lives. William pretty much disowned Karl, but allowed him to stay under his roof until he was of age, and life then was rocky, and long.

Starfleet Academy Years

On that fateful day that Karl and his father had the break up. He put his studies, and desires to work. Doing anything and everything he could to secure a life away from his father, but still keep in touch with his younger sister. When he finished school, and applied for University. He also applied for acceptance into Star Fleet Academy. His acceptance in to SFA was the highest point in his life, and he had attained a goal, a dream, and a direction. Something that he felt was missing since his mother’s death, and when he was accepted. He told himself that he was doing this for not only himself, but for her.

Karl has enjoyed his time in the Academy learning new things, and meeting a vast array of other people, not only human, but other species. Now he waits to see what the real life Star Fleet Officers will experience as he applies his knowledge to help the Federation.
