Personal History

Kamble was born on a Spacestation, and spent most of her life moving from Starship to Starship with her two parents and her brother Matthew, who was six years older than her. Kamble's mother was an Engineer, her father a Science Officer, and both she and Matthew grew up immersed in Star Fleet culture, the epitome of "Star Fleet Brats".

When she was ten, Kamble managed to find her way into machinery that she wasn't supposed to, resulting in a bad break of the fingers on her right hand. Because of the nature of the break, the only way to completely realign her fingers was surgery. Her parents opted out of this, letting her fingers heal slightly crooked, as a reminder of what comes with foolish behavior.

Around this time, Kamble's interest in medicine began to blossom. She began hanging around Sickbay whenever they would let her, shyly asking questions. At age 12, she was devouring whatever information she could get her hands on, in between communicating at Matthew, who had entered Star Fleet Academy and was studying Engineering.

At 17, Kamble enrolled in pre-med studies, where she met her first real friend, Sophie Owen. The two bonded together, and considered each other like sisters. Kamble enjoyed learning, but found herself becoming incredibly bored with the classroom setting. At the end of four years, Kamble opted to go into Star Fleet Academy, and finish off Med School at a later date. She entered the Academy at age 22, on her second Entrance Exam. A few days into the First semester, her parents informed her of her brother's death in a shipboard accident. The shock and grief almost led to her failing First Semester, but with some help from both Sophie and one of her teachers, she went on to recover, and became mostly succesful at the Academy.

Upon graduation, Kamble was assigned as a medical officer on the USS Dauntless. During her first mission, she was immediately put to work treating injuries on the Bridge. She also performed her first surgery successfully, treating a man with severe burns and internal injuries. Following that mission, war broke out between the Romulans and the Federation, and Kamble served with the Dauntless defending the border near Starbase 157.

Following the battle at 157, the Dauntless was sent to assist in repairs at Adelphous IV. The Dauntless soon became embroiled in a conflict when Klingons appeared, convinced that what was actually Romulan sabotage was the Federation's doing. The ensuing firefight led to a hull breach, causing command to move to the Battle Bridge. Kamble was sent back up to the Bridge to investigate a strange object that the Klingons. While Kamble was investigating the object, said object exploded, taking most of the Bridge with it. Kamble barely escaped being killed by the explosion and sucked out into space, but sustained damage to her environmental suit. Had her Commanding Officer, Admiral Wueste, not come to find her she probably would have suffocated.

Kamble followed Admiral Wueste and the rest of the Dauntless crew as they made their transition to the USS Pulsar. Their first mission was a diplomatic one to Ecurai, to negotiate a treaty with the Democratic Romulan Republic. Kamble did not participate largely in this mission due to being ill.

Following Commander Hawk's promotion and transfer to the Sierra 18, Kamble returned to the medical department to take the position of Chief Medical Officer. The Pulsar's next mission took them to Alpha Centauri, where they were confronted with strange spatial rifts, and a borg-like species known as the Grath. When the Pulsar was boarded, Commander Zor Kayzon, then in charge of the ship, sent most of the Bridge crew down to the Battle Bridge, sending Kamble along with them. He essentially put Kamble in charge of the Pulsar should the Grath take the Bridge, a decision made Kamble uneasy. The situation was resolved before her command skills needed to be tested.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Medical (Emphasis on Surgery and Trauma Care)
Academy Minor(s): Field Medicine, Survival Skills, Xenobiology
Hobbies and Pastimes: When she gets time to herself, Kamble loves to read. She especially enjoys Historical Fiction and Mysteries, along with the occasional history text. Some days she'll rock climb on the holodeck or, rarely, play sports with another person.
Short-Term Goals: To improve her leadership skills as Chief Medical Officer.
Long-Term Goals: To overcome her anxiety about loss, to maintain successful and healthy relationships.
Personality: Kamble is very introverted and quiet. She can come off as shy, or even closed off and stand-offish, but if she feels comfortable with a person she can be very friendly and amiable. She is careful not to meddle, even if she is an incurable eavesdropper. Kamble is very cautious, almost to an extreme, but she has trained herself to turn this instinct off in crisis situations.
Sense of Humor: Very sardonic and dark, when it exists.
Phobias: Rodents, walking into a room ahead of another person.
Likes: History, observing other people, reading, being in happy environments.
Dislikes: Parties or other social gatherings, dealing with non-medical equipment, being in hostile environments, not knowing the "right answer."
Pet Peeves or Gripes: People taking stupid risks, or insisting they're fine when they quite obviously aren't (even if she's guilty of the second one herself).
Achievements: Being among the top of her class in Pre-Med .
Disappointments: Having to leave a Starship just as she was getting settled, not getting into the Academy on her first try.
Illnesses: Kamble was very susceptible to colds and ear infections when she was young, but has had no significant illnesses since then.
Strengths: Kamble has a lot of empathy and understanding for other people. She instinctively knows how to be a comforting presence. She also has an excellent memory for procedures.
Weaknesses: Kamble cannot carry on a conversation with somebody she doesn't know well. She seemingly can't do anything without thinking about it for an inordinately long time. She can't seem make any non-medical equipment work (including simple things like replicators). She is volatile emotionally, even if she tries not to show it.
Fears: Failing to save somebody she cares about, people being angry or disappointed with her.
Prejudices: As strange as it seems, she has a prejudice against other Star Fleet officers. She thinks they take unnecessary risks, and put themselves and others in jeopardy through their actions.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: A T-shirt and either a comfortable skirt or sweatpants.
Distinguishing Features: The fingers on her right hand are very slightly bent. It's only noticeable if one looks closely.
Pets: None
Friends: Sophie Owen, who she met while taking Pre-Med. Commander Jaden Hawk, First Officer, Space Station Sierra 18

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Being unable to attend her brother's funeral, since her parents didn't notify of her of his death until after his funeral
Best Time: Staying up late nights with Sophie in pre-Med, just studying, talking, laughing, and drinking hot chocolate
Most Crucial Experience: Arguably, there are two. The first was recieving her first tidbit of medical instruction from a woman named Dr. Gold, at age 11. The second was being confronted by her Survival Skills instructor to pull herself out of depression
Role Model: While she was growing up, Matthew was her role model. After his death, she adopted one Lt. Watkins, the aforementioned Survival Skills instructor as a role model
