Personal History

Grew up on Mars, at the edges of a mountainous region near lake Talsi. Had a good childhood, her and her brothers were very close. K'Etana knew little of her Klingon heritage but what she was taught by her father she learnt with a great interest, her and her brothers were great fans of the ancient art of the bad'lidth. Upon graduating from the local school she found herself unsure as to what she wanted to do. After considering many career paths she eventually decided upon Star Fleet as the best choice, tactical would compliment her interests and curiosity of the world around her well. After growing up in a small, close community made up mostly of farmers and miners Star Fleet Academy was a big difference. K'Etana made some good friends and found she liked subjects such as piloting even more than she had imagined she would.

Four years later, with Class 2 qualifications in piloting and an advanced course on weaponry, K'Etana graduated fifth in her year. Her first assignment was the USS Dauntless, under the Command of Captain Thrawn, where she still is to this day. Her first duty shift was a lesson in itself, when she gave wrong sensor readings to the CO from a simulation that was being carried out by the CTO. After that mistake and many more she began to gradually get a sense of what it was to be a tactical officer. Along the way she made some friends for life in the tactical department and had a few relationships; most of which ended badly (due to her bad temper). She gained a lot of experience in the Romulan war where the Dauntless destroyed annihilated all Romulan forces on a planet near the border as well as an orbiting Romulan base. This was the beginning of the Dauntless’ reputation as a “harbinger of doom”. It was a ship to be feared and K’Etana sometimes wondered if they went to far, for in future missions the sheer number of enemies, be it Orions, Romulans or Borg they destroyed was astronomical.During her time as CTO one incident in particular stuck with her...the Borg battle. The Dauntless managed to escape Sol while the battle was raging and following the Armageddon directive they proceeded to fluidic space, enlisting the help of Species 8472. Upon their return to Sol there was an enormous battle for the very survival of the Federation. Earth was under attack, and to her horror K'Etana discovered her home world Mars had been colonized by the Borg. The Borg on Mars were attempting to break through Earths defensive shield grid, so after an extremely difficult decision, by her CO, K'Etana modified torpedoes and fired them. They destroyed all Borg life-signs on Mars. After the great battle for Sol was won, K'Etana, while blaming her CO for the Mars incident decided to return to the planet with him. After exploring the city they by chance discovered some of the colonists had managed to survive in an old-mine shaft, including her two brothers and mother. Eventually shore-leave was cancelled and she returned to duty.

Her next missions aboard the Dauntless were to be the strangest any starship has ever experienced, though there seemed to be a recurring theme… After a routine mission dealing with diplomatic matters and the problems of the Federation (a planet was trying to break away – not unheard of these days) the Dauntless set out on a new mission. Along the way they encountered a being called Annie (an all-powerful being who seemed to be able to manipulate both time and matter whatever way she pleased), who promptly began to play tricks on the crews minds and in particular decided to inhabit 3 males and 3 females minds, K’Etana's and Mikes (the CMO’s) mind being one of them. The being then went on to form links between the “couples” minds and made the females give birth to...a similar being to Annie using the males and females DNA. This was an incident K’Etana would rather forget & she still bears a grudge to the Annie creature for having manipulated her without asking.

The mission after that – a Fleet raid on an Orion syndicate was of course successful and K’Etana's skills as CTO were put to the test. At the start of the next mission she found herself promoted to FO when the former FO Samantha Rylus succumbed to a virus, however she did not have much of a chance to inhabit this new role as FO for as soon as they beamed down to a planet on a rescue mission her consciousness was suddenly transported 9000 years into the past to inhabit an alien called Shan’Ul’Thrren. She found herself forgetting who she was and becoming the alien whom her consciousness was now inhabiting, however subconsciously she used the skills she had known aboard the Dauntless to help Shan’Ul’Thrren and the alien crew she was now serving with. The alien ship crashed after pursuing something called the crystalline entity and K’Etana along with the crew was somehow transported back to her own existence or dimension. She would say she was put back into her own timeline however the timeline was so messed up by other events (Commodore Thrawns encounter with a blackhole) and the changes they had made to the past as an alien crew that it is probably a different timeline by now. Either way they escaped with their bodies and minds…mostly… intact for another mission.

Personality Profile

Hobbies and Pastimes: Likes to go on holidays but for some strange reason every time she does the shuttle she is on crashes, she likes keeping fit when she has the time – the holodeck is good for this, & she likes spending time in ten forward with her friends
Short-Term Goals: Would like to be a good FO, however she has gotten off to a bad start (by being arrested on SBA for arguing with a security officer then escaping)
Long-Term Goals: She is happy where she is at the moment career-wise, but family-wise she would perhaps like to meet someone and settle down, though not for some time yet
Likes: Drinking bloodwine, real food (as opposed to replicated) & music; her favorite band at the moment is AlphaStates, a popular group in the Sol system
Dislikes: Waiting or doing nothing, most things engineering or medical related, eggs and gach (the worms that Klingons like to eat), know-it-all officers
Achievements: Came through the ranks to Lieutenant Commander, also is the Chief Tactical Officer
Disappointments: The Mars Incident in general
Strengths: Good instincts, is good at making quick decisions (though the inverse also applies), was a good tactical officer
Weaknesses: Is a bit hot-headed, tends to act first then think, doesn't have much patience
Distinguishing Features: She has Klingon ridges on her face though not half as pronounced as full-blooded Klingons.
