Personal History

Jeff's childhood was reasonably typical. At eighteen he entered Star Fleet Academy and four years later he graduated with honors. His first assignment out of the Academy was as a security officer aboard the USS Destiny. He was joined on the Destiny by his closest friend from the Academy, Luke Evans. On his first mission with Destiny, Jeff met Leslie Johnson, a doctor working with the relief team Destiny was transporting. They were married less than a year later. After the wedding, Leslie left her civilian post so she could live with her new husband. Jeff continued to serve with the Destiny for several years, eventually becoming Assistant Chief of Security and rising to the rank of Lieutenant.

After serving in that capacity for two years, Jeff was transferred to USS Centaur where he was promoted to Lt. Commander and Chief of Security. He served aboard Centaur for close to three years before accepting a promotion to Commander and moving to the USS Tiananmen to serve as Chief of Security and Second Officer. During his time aboard Tiananmen, Jeff befriended Bob McCammon, the ship's First Officer. He remained aboard Tiananmen for the next four years before taking the job of Executive Officer aboard Starbase 121 and with it a promotion to Captain. He and Leslie lived on SB-121 for five years until Jeff was promoted to Commodore and assigned as Commanding Officer of Starbase 375.

He and Leslie lived aboard Starbase 375 for the next seventeen years. During that time they had three children and Jeff rose to the rank of Vice-Admiral. Shortly thereafter he was recalled to Earth by his friend Luke Evans, now a Rear Admiral and Assistant Commander of Star Fleet Security. While on Earth, Jeff watched helplessly as Starbase One was destroyed, with Luke aboard, during the Borg Invasion. As the Armageddon Directive was implemented, USS Federation, Jeff's ride home, and commanded by now Rear Admiral Bob McCammon, was also destroyed.

In the aftermath, Jeff was given his deceased friend's former job as Assistant Commander of Star Fleet Security. Leslie and the kids moved to Earth and for the next few years they lived together in Milwaukee. During this time Jeff and Emily Scott became close friends. After several years, Jeff was given a new assignment, this time as Commander of the Third Fleet. To take the job, Jeff, along with his family, moved to Starbase Charlie. His first act as Third Fleet Commander was to recruit and promote Captain Dan Wueste, Commanding Officer of the USS Gettysburg, to Commodore and assign the man as Assistant Fleet Commander. While Wueste initially resisted the job, and held some resentment towards Jeff for forcing the transfer, the two eventually became extremely good friends.

After Jeff and Dan nearly died during an undercover operation into Cardassian Space, Linden requested a transfer back to Earth to provide greater stability for his family, and to monitor Wueste's condition, as his friend was confined to Star Fleet Medical for some time after their rescue. During this time, Jeff was able to reassume his role as Assistant Commander of Star Fleet Security. A number of years after a fleet wide reorganization switched the numbered fleets into task oriented groups, Jeff accepted assignment as Chief of Operations for the 1st Battle Group. The new assignment had the added advantage of keeping him close to his family and allowing them to remain in their Milwaukee home. His first action as 1BG Chief of Operations was to assign Wueste, now a Rear Admiral and CO of the USS Dauntless, to act as 1BG Commander, making him Jeff's second-in-command.

In the years that have followed Jeff has been promoted to Admiral and given the additional duty of commanding Starbase Alpha. After a Fleet Reorganization Jeff's title returned to that of Fleet Commander. He remains CO of SBA, but as of Stardate 21208.20 he has been given an additional assignment as 1st Fleet Security Commander. As of stardate 21209.01, his colleague and friend, Admiral Wueste, had been assigned to Linden's former post as Fleet Commander.

In the aftermath of the Krynar War and neural parasite invasion, much of Star Fleet was reorganized. With Admiral Wueste's removal from 1st Fleet Command, Linden found himself reassigned back to Star Fleet Security to serve as Emily Scott's deputy.
