Personal History
Jalan was born the last of 8 children following seven older sisters. His parents were farmers on the Trilar Peninsula before their retirement and his father's death ten years ago. The only son of orthodoxly religious parents who owned and worked their orchards of Moba trees Jalan grew up knowing what it meant to work hard and to sacrifice. Life wasn't harsh and the large successful fruit farm certainly provided the family with a considerable wealth but the Kiros family routinely donated much of their surplus income to local charities and schools.
This disciplined childhood spent working the trees and doing for others spilled over into Jalan's school studies. As a young man he showed great aptitude in science especially in Climatology and Chemistry. He also demonstrated a concern for others by tutoring classmates in Chemistry among other subjects.
Jalan met his wife Adami shortly after finishing High School and entering one of Bajor's most prominent Universities - one she taught at as a Professor. The two were married in their his Junior Year. When the relationship came to light it raised several eyebrows, including those of Jalan's parents but the deed was done. After graduation Jalan applied to Star Fleet Academy at 23. It was a move that would ultimately cause the end of his short-lived, emotional roller coaster, of a marriage for numerous reasons.
Seven years and a doctorate later he was posted as a junior officer aboard the Immense Class Star Base Beta, in the Bajor System. There he has risen through the ranks to Lieutenant and when the spot as CSO opened up he applied for the position and was promoted to fill the void.

Personality: A real smart ass given the chance. Even tempered. Outgoing but not overly so. Jalan has an infectious and mischievous smile.

Achievements: Graduating the Academy, Doctorate in Chemistry and surviving this long with a she-devil like Adami lurking around for the past nine years.
Disappointments: Having to half his share of the family farm to his ex-wife in the divorce and knowing she will forever have a say in small part of his life. The flip side of that is knowing he'll have the pleasure of complicating her interests in the venture until the family convinces her to sell.
