Personal History
Amarik was born in the city of Dartha, Romulus. The only child to Parem and Ekenda, his childhood was the usual hard education given to most Romulan children, but for him it was a little worse. Not being of noble birth he was constantly bullied and called a veruul.
Because of this, he became a hard and somewhat troubled youngster, relishing all the physical training that he could get, especially the use of unarmed combat. His father, Parem, was an Erian (Sgt Major) in the Gai s‘Shiar (Marines) and served with some distinction against the Klivam when he was killed during a raid into their territory. His mother, Ekenda worked in the Imperial Government offices in Dartha and became ill for a time and sadly died, leaving Amarik orphaned.
The loss of his father, then the slow demise of his mother caused Amarik to become more and more withdrawn. He lost what friends he had at the time due to his almost arrogant behaviour. He became passionate about wanting to destroy the Klivam in revenge for his fathers death. He never spoke about his mother’s demise to anyone as he felt he had dishonoured her for not helping in her most traumatic time. When he was assigned to the military for his initial five year term, he seemed a quiet, almost placid person, until he took up his Ch’Vashrek training, then he relished the power of the fight and considered himself on the way to being a true Romulan.
During this initial five year term in the military he felt frustrated at not being given a chance to use his skills as they should. The constant menial jobs aboard ships and bases started to get on Amarik’s nerves and on one particular time he almost came to blows with a senior officer. Fortunately for him, he managed to subdue his emotions enough to stop him from doing something stupid.
However, he was "spotted" after this event by a tutor called Savran. It was he who helped mold the young Amarik into the officer he is today, installing his sense of pride and tradition into the wayward youngster. Because of his help Amarik decided to join the Imperial Navy rather than the Marines and worked hard to pass the hard standards of entry into the Imperial Academy. When he was accepted into the Academy he was incredibly proud and honoured, and he commited himself to serve the Empire for the rest of his life.

Friends: Mirok was born in the poor city of Iuruth, Romulus. The two boys met during their time in Military Service and became close friends. Mirok joined the Marines as soon as was possible after hearing that his friend was joining the Imperial Fleet
