Personal History

Fredrick Hornblower is a geek, as well as a bit of a scoundrel. He spent most of his childhood getting into fights and otherwise juvenile behavior. He taught himself how to program and hack into systems by using his knowledge and hack into the school system, getting information on what's for lunch, what the staff has been up to and even arranged for the fire drill to be rigged during recess. Later on he was being bullied by three boys two years older than him. Not only did he jumped all three boys at once one day in recess, he won the resulting fight. After numerous conflicts and a chat with a police officer, he finally calmed down from fighting. He was placed in an Engineering program where he could use his energy on something productive. This backfired though as he built very impressive gadgets to help him avoid teachers when he was running food outside of school for his friends.

The pattern continued on through high school but he fell in love with a gorgeous woman, Kathrine, “Kate”, shortly after school started freshman year. He would impress her by using his skills as an engineer and as a rogue to give her gifts, including food from a 4 star restaurant. The pattern kept going until one peaceful night during their Senior Ball which landed on his birthday. The Senior Class were able to get their ball on a retired star ship now turned into a museum in the Cargo Bay. When Kate asked that the two be alone, Fred was able to guide Kate through the ship and into a private area of the ship. It was there that Kate decided that for his birthday, she would give him the greatest gift she could possibly give him, herself. After the dance, Fred dropped her off and they both promised that no matter what they did after high school, they would both be together. What Fredrick didn't know was that 2 months later, Fred would find out that there was another gift that she gave him. The day before graduation, Fred was held at gunpoint (literally) by Kate's mother who decided to tell the Hornblower's that Fred got Kate pregnant. Figuring out that it was a life or death situation, Fredrick offered that he join Star Fleet. That way not only would he have a job but he would also send child support to his soon to be son or daughter. Reluctantly, Kate's father agreed. He was nice in the fact that he personally drove Fred to the recruiting station and signed him up as an Engineering Mate. After the months of basic training and the months more in A and C school, he was able to show up to see the birth of his daughter Alexa Hornblower. It was there that shortly before his 19th birthday, he found out that he was being shipped to the 4th fleet. Deciding to take matters in his own hands, he sneaked into her house, took her and the child to a Judge and the two became married. After one more romantic evening together, the morning after he was sent out into deep space, hoping his beloved would be sure to write to him.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: During training, he got into a fight with another recruit over a failed op. Fred did not throw the first punch but he did throw the last. When Kate found out, the look of disappointment plagued his mind as he was given a demerit and sentenced to being the Latrine Queen for the duration of his stay at basic training. Even though it was ruled that he was defending himself and that the one who did throw the first punch was expelled, the feeling of guilt hurt more than any punch he had received.
Best Time: The one evening at Senior Ball, nothing needs to be added about that.
Most Crucial Experience: When he graduated from C school, he was able to catch the last minute transport to the hospital where his future wife was giving birth to his daughter. The sense of responsibility flowed through his veins and he was for the first time in his life, happy.
Role Model: His old grammar school principle. Even though Fred was a thorn in his backside, he never gave up on him.
