Personal History

It took Thomas three tries to enter the academy when he first embarked on his Starfleet career. Failing the first two times for being too young on the first occasion, and being stuck on the wrong planet for the second.

Once he graduated with flying colours, he was assigned to the USS De Leon, a Columbus Class scout.

Here he seemed to thrive under the influence of his commanding officer who before becoming a command track officer served as a chief engineer elsewhere in the fleet, though she never eluded as to where.

One of his first assignments was taking part in a first contact mission where he had to repair the planets atmospheric control net when it was accidentally damaged when a type 3 surveillance probe somehow disrupted the finely tuned system resulting in a mega storm almost destroying the planets capital city.

And in the survey of several planets that were believed to be possible candidates for terraforming for colonisation. He hoped to test some terraforming equipment he’d designed for the purpose, but the war with the Krynar came putting an end to that stage of his work.

However he would like to move on his career, and the possibilities for advancement only come with more prestigious assignments.

So with the blessing and support of his CO, he transferred to the USS Sheridan, though not a massive career jump, assignment to a Destroyer is better than a Scout.

As his first assignment aboard Sheridan, he was with the second team sent to investigate the discovery of the USS Challenger NX-03 in a class 9 nebula within the remains of the Bajoran system.

While aboard, the away team of fourteen were exposed to some form of Aphasia virus that caused communication problems and hallucinations resulting in the accidental death of one of the team. Thomas was only mildly affected by the condition enabling him to search for other members of the team who had become disorientated and separated from the group while the others prepared for extraction.
