Hive mind
A hive mind is the collective sharing of minds into a single consciousness, serving and driving the goals of its entire population.
As such, individuality in a hive mind is sacrificed for the whole, and its members/resources are assigned tasks according to how to best achieve those goals.
When joining in a hive mind, a person's individuality is erased. Often, they act as a drone, and their actions are controlled by the consciousness as a whole. Also called "worker bees," a drone will pursue actions even if the actions cause harm to themselves or others, thinking only of the collective or hive. While knowledge is shared within the hive, pain is not, though the severing of a drone or worker is felt in some way by the collective.
