Hekaras II

Hekaras II is the previously-inhabited planet in its system, and was the only inhabited planet in its region.

Homeworld to the Hekarans, a member of the United Federation of Planets.

In the 2360s, this planet underwent major climate changes, due to gravitational shifts in the system.
In danger of becoming uninhabitable, Hekaran scientists concluded that warp travel through their section of space was the cause.

In 2370, one of the leading scientists on the project sacrificed themselves in order to prove their theory. This was done by breaching a starship's warp core, creating a large subspace rift.
With this evidence, the Federation ordered the building of a planet-wide weather controller on the planet in order to stall the damage to Hekaras.

The Federation Council also issued a directive restricting essential travel only to Hekaras II.
