Personal History

America was born on Earth, in New York City. Her parents were historians, and thus, named her for the pre-war country known as 'America'. Her father worked for Star Fleet, recording the ships' adventures, so she grew up hearing tales of the great star ships exploring and protecting the universe. Her mother, on the other hand, didn't work at all. She stayed at home, and homeschooled America, India and Andrew. As a child, America loved to fly. She’d design courses and navigate her dad’s old hoverbike through them. America, though, quickly grew bored of her life. She wanted to be a pilot, flying through the stars and navigating to new worlds. So America taught herself as much as she could alone.

When she was 18, the captain of the ship her father served on offered her passage, and a chance to get to know a ship. She accepted, and traveled with them for a while. The ship was a diplomatic vessel, and thus traveled everywhere from Vulcan to Romulus to many other planets. While onboard, her knowledge of many of the laws, and regulations onboard a ship was greatly increased. She even got to learn a bit about Vulcan law, when a Vulcan diplomat was onboard the ship for a few months.

A year into her travels onboard that ship, their ship let them have a shore leave on Earth. America and a few of the younger crewmembers of the ship, took a shuttle down to the Amazon Rainforest for a visit. A few days into the trip, she was bitten by a poisonous spider. Since then, America could not even go near a tiny spider.

Two years later, during what should have been just a simple there and back trip to the city of London on Earth, a shuttle malfunction caused the shuttle to crash. America had been flying the shuttle, and blamed herself for not being good enough, although a later examination of the shuttle would show that the it was an issue with the design of the shuttle, and realistically there was nothing that she could’ve done to change the outcome- except, maybe get them both killed. She swore she wouldn’t ever pilot a ship again. So she left the ship, and signed up for the academy. She decided if she wasn’t able to help her father, then she should at least be able to help others. So she chose to take a career in Security.

Most Crucial Experience: Her most crucial experience was crashing the shuttle. It changed her life- and she doesn’t know if it’s for better or for worse. After it, she just wanted to protect people, and she felt security would be the best job for it.
Role Model: Kathryn Janeway. She is America’s role model because even when her crew was stranded, she never gave up.
