Personal History

Virginia Harrison-Black, (Ginny to her friends), was born on Earth in the rich area of Knightsbridge, London, England. Into an upper-middle class society family.

Ginny is the only child of Lavinia and Gregory Harrison-Black.

As a small child Ginny hardly ever saw her parents as they attended many social occasions leaving her to be looked after by a nanny. Her nanny was a very down to earth and bubbly person who Ginny came to love like a parent and who’s outlook and attitudes on life she developed, much to her parents’ annoyance.

Throughout her young life she attended a number of Private schools where she excelled in science subjects, Physical Education she also practiced gymnastics and the martial art of Tai Chi.

At the age of sixteen, her parents arranged for her to attend the Montellier Finishing School in Switzerland and it was there she met her best friend Marianne Dubois. The girls were always in trouble for flouting the strict rules that were essential for them to become ’young ladies’, preferring to sneak out at nights to attend the fun venues with the local population that attending the stuffy dances at the school.

Soon after she started at the school her parents announced that they were to be divorced and her mother was returning to work as a Government Scientist attached to Star Fleet.

Shortly after the divorce of her parents, Ginny and her friend Marianne were on a skiing trip with her school class when they were trapped in an avalanche. Marianne was seriously injured and died soon after being rescued.

Ginny was heartbroken at the loss of her friend and not being able to stand being at the school without her she decided to drop out of the school and apply to attend Star Fleet Academy. Her father was furious and a rift developed between them, which has grown over the years.

Passing through the Academy without too many problems, Ginny has excelled in her chosen profession, recently being chosen to be Chief Medical Officer for the USS Yeager, where she continues to serve today.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The loss of her father‘s love. Ginny’s father refuses contact his daughter because she dropped out of Finishing School and joined Star Fleet Academy. She had wanted to live an independent life with people of her choice and her father had wanted her to marry on graduating from Finishing school.
Best Time: The day Ginny was accepted into the Star Fleet Academy.
Most Crucial Experience: Ginny decided to become a doctor when she was trapped alone with her friend Marianne on a mountainside during an avalanche in Switzerland. Ginny had only sustained cuts and bruises but her friend Marianne had been seriously injured. Since the girls were higher up in the mountains than most of their class friends help took longer to arrive. Having practiced first aid in classes at school Ginny administered this to her friend the best she could and held her friend close to try and keep her warm, but time help arrived Marianne was critically ill. She died in hospital shortly after her arrival there.

Ginny was heartbroken as she felt that she hadn’t done enough to help save the life of her friend.

After the divorce of her parents she rebelled against her father’s authoritarian attitudes and applied to join the Star Fleet Academy and live a life of her choosing.
Role Model: Her mother who tirelessly works in Scientific research trying to discover cures for exotic and extraterrestrial diseases.
