Personal History

H'Daen i’Rhehiv’je tr’Rehu was born on the Romulan home world Romulus in the city of Rhehiv’je. He was born to parents Helev and Emni of the House of Rehu. His father Helev i’Rhehiv’je tr’ Rehu was a Riov on a Kerchan Class Dreadnought at the time of H'Daen’s birth and only met his son after his first birthday. His mother decided to serve the Empire in a different way. She served as a surgeon in Rhehiv’je her home town.

With Helev serving the Imperial fleet, Emni spent a lot of time on her own and was very happy when she gave birth to her son. But with the birth of her son came a dark secret. A secret which haunted her most of her life. After a month's visit with his son, Helev left for another mission and was never seen again. Emni made many enquires about her husband, but was never able to find out the truth. As a result, Emni became withdrawn and moved out of the front lines of her house, and eventually when H'Daen was five years old she had almost no say anymore.

In the next five years as her son grew older, she worked hard to be able to give him a name. But while she struggled to find her way back as a dominate house member, H'Daen had problems of his own. He had violent uncontrollable out bursts and found himself going into fits of rage. He never developed any brow ridges, and he also discovered he was much, stronger than any of his peers. This scared him and he hid the fact away from everybody.

By the time H'Daen turned fifteen his mother was a respected member of her house again and proved her worth in the medical field once again. But H'Daen’s condition pained his mother and her conscience got the best of her and decided to let H'Daen in on the secret she had kept from him all his life. A secret even Helev never knew about. H'Daen found out by his mother that Helevwas not his father. His father was a Vulcan by the name of Vol. She tried to explain to him about the Ponn Farr and the telepathic link Vol had on her. H'Daen would hear none of it. He went into a blind rage and would have killed is own mother had other house members not intervened. H'Daenstormed out of their home and joined the Imperial fleet the next day.

H'Daen’s hatred grew for this man his mother called Vol and the whole Vulcan race in general. He did not want anything to do with his mother either. He studied hard and trained even harder and worked on his goal of becoming an officer on a starship. At the age of twenty five, he had already been part of the Imperial fleet for ten years, where others his age were only starting their training and was entered into an officer’s course. He was given his first chance to serve on a starship at the age of twenty nine. The Mosaram Class Warbird became a way of life. H'Daen served with all his heart, and worked his way up to an Arrain, before his past started eating away at his soul. He took a leave of duty and started to track the one his mother called Vol. His search consumed him. He shaved off his hair and called himself Dan as he followed up any lead he could find. A five year search came to an end, when he found Vol serving as a first officer on a small Vulcan explorer vessel in the neutral zone. H'Daen managed to get aboard the ship by sabotaging his own ship and sending out a false distress call. Due to his outward looks, the crew believed him to be a Vulcan and welcomed him aboard. He spent four days on the ship before he got his chance to be alone with their first officer. After a few drinks in the mess hall, H'Daen stood up from the table and drew his Romulan disruptor, ending Vol’s life.

H'Daen then turned the weapon on himself, but was stunned by a security officer before he could fire. He was found guilty of murder and sent to prison for life on Vulcan. After five years in prison,H'Daen became violently sick. Luckily he was on Vulcan and the doctors knew what was wrong. His Vulcan roots had come back to haunt him again. He had contracted Choriocytosis. He request he be left to die, but a Vulcan older name T’Var decided his request would not be granted. He was given Strobolin, a naturally occurring drug to fight off the illness.

T’Var ordered blood tests and scans be run on H'Daen and his beliefs were correct. H'Daen was much more Vulcan than even he had though. T’Var approached the high courts and explained his findings and begged that H'Daen get released on medical grounds, as he was never taught to control his emotions. It was denied, but H'Daen was moved from general detention to the psychiatric ward. T’Var was given permission to work with H'Daen and see if he could save him. For ten years T’Var worked with H'Daen and became the first father figure H'Daen had ever known. H'Daen studied Surak's works and slowly started to suppress his emotions. Although his training was far from finished, H'Daen was released from the psychiatric ward after serving ten years but was not allowed to leave Vulcan for another ten years and was closely watched.

In the years that followed, he worked hard at becoming a Vulcan, and decided it would be logical to keep his old name, a reminder from where he came. Another logical step was to study medicine as his mother did. It was the only way he could think of to give back to the people. He got his Professors degree in the field of Romulan anatomy, a field which no one really cared for on the planet. The ten year period passed but H'Daen stayed on and became a recognized surgeon.

H'Daen was later approached by the V'Shar to serve on a starship, his knowledge of the Romulans made him stand out as a possible spy, but he refused and decided he would only serve in a medical capacity. While serving on the starship, he met a new organisation, made up of all breeds of life. They were known as Starfleet. The possibilities to learn and grow were overpowering and H'Daen requested to join Starfleet. His request was denied. Starfleet saw him as a threat and security risk, being of Romulan blood line. The fact that he had also murdered some one disqualified him straight away.

H'Daen pleaded with his old friend T'Var to travel with him to Earth. T'Var had never left Vulcan in his two hundred years and finally gave in to H'Daen's request. H'Daen was flagged as a possible threat when he landed on the planet, and was watched closely by security forces.

H'Daen started working and supplying medical support to the poor. T'Var pulled all the strings he could with the Vulcan high console to try get H'Daen enlisted with Starfleet to no avail. While returning home one night H'Daen witnessed four men attacking and beating another. He ran over and assisted by fighting the men off. The man who was assaulted was unconscious and H'Daen carried him back to the clinic and attended to his wounds.

It took four days before the man regained consciousness. He thanked H'Daen for saving his life. He introduced himself as Admiral Paul Richards, a doctor with Starfleet. H'Daen explained how he wanted to join Starfleet but could not because of his history. The Admiral did not want to know of his history and felt he owed his life to H’Daen and arranged that they worked together.

H'Daen and Admiral Richards worked together for three years before the Admiral was able to pull enough strings to get H’Daen accepted into Starfleet's academy. H'Daen was seventy one years old, very old acording to Human standards, but young according to his own biological clock, when he was finally accepted into the academy.

H'Daen decided to stay in the medical field and focused his studies on Humans. After a five year spell in the academy, he gained the rank of Midshipman and chose to stay on Earth, serving in a Starfleet hospital with his mentor Admiral Richards. His lack of emotions made him a better doctor in some aspects, able to make the hard decisions with out doubting himself. Through hard work and determination he was then promoted to Ensign. One year after his promotion, Admiral Richards was called to serve on the Saturn station. H’Daen was happy for his old friend and they went their separate ways.

While the Admiral settled quickly into his new post, H’Daen struggled to find direction on his own once again. He decided to study Molecular biology. After five more years of study, H’Daen decided he wanted to try his hand on a starship. With the extra degree to his name, Starfleet promoted H’Daen to lieutenant Junior Grade.

H'Daen was offered the chance to serve on the USS Hermanus as a Science officer. H'Daen enjoyed the work and learnt fast. While on a shuttle mission, studying a Super Nova, the shuttle was a attacked by a pirate ship. In order to survive and hide the USS Hermanus from the pirates, H'Daen and a crew mate spun them a story to gain their trust.

H'Daen spent six months on the pirate's ship before finally getting rescued by the USS James Madison.

H'Daen was then assigned to the James Madison and served on the ship until it was badly damaged by the USS Chin'toka during an attempt to rescue their commanding officer. H'Daen ended up getting radiation poisoning while helping a young engineer, and was evacuated to the USS Yeager.

Rehu did not return to active duty after the incident, but did take up an Instructors post at Starfleet Academy to assist the young cadets on their road to becoming Starfleet officers. When the Kynar appeared out of nowhere to invade the Earth, H’Daen left the academy to join the fight. But instead of serving on a ship, H’Daen disappeared. He spent this time in the mountains, meditating and waiting for the end to come. It never did.

Due to his disappearing trick, H’Daen was demoted and suspended from the Academy. H’Daen resigned from the Academy shortly afterwards. H’Daen’s career had fallen apart, but he was still an Starfleet Officer, and decided he still wanted to make a difference in the world, and help and protect those who needed it. He spent months studying after he left the Academy, trying to sharpen his own skills as well as work through his demons. H’Daen reached a point in his medical career, where he couldn’t study any further, so he decided to expand his skill set.

The following semester, H’Daen enrolled in his first piloting course and started to learn the finer art of flying, first small crafts and then the larger vessels. After 3 years of studying and training, H’Daen was a qualified Starfleet Helmsmen.

With his newly acquired knowledge, H’Daen looked back to the stars, and requested active duty again. He was assigned to the USS Columbia, under Captain Adaran.
