Gosis' species are a humanoid species. In the 22nd century they were still a pre-warp species. First Star Fleet contact was made by Captain Jonathan Archer, Lieutenant Malcolm Reed and Ensign Hoshi Sato in 2152. It can be assumed that by Federation Space time, Gosis' species has developed warp technology.

Physiology

This species' physiology is particularly distinct from that of Humans. The differences are deeper than just outward facial ridges and spots. When Temec, a doctor, compared a scan of Human physiology to their own, he pointed out that his species did not have a liver. Indicating the Human liver on their version of an X-ray, he once said, "We don't even know what this organ does." He also used the X-ray to note that they only had one kidney, describing the second Human kidney as a "redundant renal organ." And his species' blood was neither red nor contained iron. Moreover, iron was a toxic element to their species.

Legal system

Little is known of their legal system, except that the Gosis faction practiced the death penalty. Their preferred method of implementing the sentence was hanging.

The government of at least the area inhabited by General Gosis appeared to be in civilian hands, as evidenced by the attendance of the Enterprise (NX-01) away team at a political rally held by a "Chancellor Kutare". However, the influence of the military was strong.

Technology

In the 2150s, the technological level of the planet seemed to be on a rough par with late 20th century Earth, although they hadn't yet "split the atom". They possessed reliable artificial illumination, a knowledge of computers, familiarity with telecommunication, methods of observing internal organs, ways to photograph objects in planetary orbit, automatic projectile weapons, automobiles, trains, and jet aircraft.

In addition, they seem to grasp the basic working concept of the away team's phasers, which may suggest they have taken rudimentary steps in the development of particle weapons.

Religion

As of the 22nd century, the species practiced (or at one time in their past, did practice) a well-developed religion, centered in elaborate temples.

Architecture

The architecture of the species' cities is very aesthetically pleasing. Enterprise orbital scans of the city revealed a dense developmental pattern. Functionally, the architecture was of sufficient design to accommodate a high population density.

Because of the brief stay the Enterprise away team had in decon, it may be assumed that the city's builders also were capable of constructing efficient sanitation systems which tended to keep disease away from the population.

History

By the 2150s, their race was divided into at least two 'major' political nation states, one of which was called "the Alliance." In 2152, Gosis' faction believed, based on propaganda, that war with the Alliance was inevitable. The war would have been based in part upon "ancestral claims" by the Alliance on Gosis' faction's capital.
