Personal History

Steven was born as the first child of a Starfleet officer and the Risan woman he fell madly in love with during a shore leave on Risa. Though he was born, and lived the first years of his life on the estate that has been in the family's possession for more than 300 years, his father made the concession to his mother of moving the family to Risa, so she could be close to her family and friends, during his long periods of absence. Steven's formative years were thus spent on Risa, where he developed a keen interest in history, languages and cultural studies. Steven looked, and looks, up to his father very much, and has never, despite his liking and talent for the aforementioned subjects, doubted that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his father and join Starfleet. His mother was not happy about those prospects, knowing first-hand how lonely and ever-changing the life of a Starfleet Officer is, but supported his efforts, just as his father found immense pride in the fact that his only son was determined to "Keep alive the family tradtion!".

This resolve was increased by the Borg invasion, and the war with the Romulans in recent years; as he comes from a military family with a long history of service - first in the Danish military, then, at the birth of the Federation, in Starfleet, he felt ever more urgingly the duty to take up arms and fight for his "country" in times of need, and he enrolled in the Academy when he could, over his mother's and sister's concern. He has always been close to both of them, and their opposition weighed heavily upon him, but he'd made his choice, and joined the Academy immediately after graduating High School, although the Borg and Romulan thread had disappeared for the time being. When his mother argued this, that the thread was gone, he smiled, and said that it might be gone for now - but there's no telling when it'll be back.

Time, as is known, would prove him right. And all through his years at the Academy, he kept his combat skills sharp as a katana, knowing that he'd have to use them when he graduated. And now it seems that he was right. The destruction of Bajor has impacted Steven profoundly. He and Mid. Sanders spent many a holiday with Mid. Alenis in the latter's home in Ashalla, and he's now out for the blood of the attackers. His hatred of them, though naturally not very old, runs deep, and has scared some of his crewmates already.

Steven finished his first real mission with the Sheridan, and was not very impressed, as he though the lack of discipline aboard was abhorrent. One particular incident in Shuttle Bay, involving several Ensigns, a Lt.Jg, some enlisted, that ended up in a brawl in the middle of the deck, made him seriously question whether or not it was a good place to start off his career. He decided to give it a chance, though, particularly because he had confidence in his COS; they seem to see eye-to-eye on the issue.

Personality Profile

Academy Major(s): Combat Specialist, Diplomacy
Academy Minor(s): Tactics and Strategy, Leadership
Hobbies and Pastimes: He likes to read. Matters of history, and the classics of Earth litterature is of particular interest to him. Dante's "Inferno", Shakespeare's Collected Works, and several others have their assured place on his bookshelf. Spending time in the holodeck, "mixing business and pleasure" is also one of his favorite passtimes - honing his tactics, strategy and combat-skills on scenarios from past challenges. One of his favorites is the Battle of Thermopolae.
Short-Term Goals: Get a good start at his new posting - earning the respect and trust of his shipmates - superior and subordinate alike.
Long-Term Goals: A command of his own...and one day a seat on the Division Command - perhaps even CINC.
Personality: Respectful, proper, courteous. He's torn between his Human half, which to him is more or less the teachings of his father: Order, discipline, control, courtesy, and his Risan half, from his mother, which is more carefree, outgoing, and jovial. He himself sometimes find that those two sides of him are in conflict with eachother.

He strives for perfection in all he does - but is perfectly capable of "taking it easy" after hours and off-duty. More than one of his Academy friends have noticed how he's somehow one person in the classroom and holodeck simulations....and quite another in the cafeteria after hours.
Sense of Humor: Dry and "intelligent". Sometimes he finds that his jokes go uncomprehended.
Phobias: None....yet, anyway.
Likes: Relaxing after hours in the lounge with a drink and the company of friends.
Dislikes: People who don't keep their promises...
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Snoring. One of his roommates at the Academy snored, and it annoyed him beyond words - so much that he even saw it necessary to go to the Infirmery and request an implant to shut out sounds. Instead, he got handed a pair of earplugs and told "You probably do stuff that annoys others too"
Bad Habits or Vices: None.....yet.
Achievements: Managing to climb a mountain of the Janitza Mountains with his two best friends.
Disappointments: Not graduating as the best.
Illnesses: None, apart from the usual childhood diseases.
Strengths: His resolve and determination.
Weaknesses: His "double character". While he himself does not see a problem with being one type on duty, and another after, this sudden "Jekyll and Hyde"-thing has previously made more than one person suspecious and cautious around him.
Fears: Failure, disappointing his superiors...and most of all his father. And, that his little sister, who he doesn't talk of much but loves more than himself, will choose to follow in their mother's footsteps as he followed in their father's. And, being assimilated. Steven would rather die than let himself be assimilated...and he'll readily kill to avoid that fate too. This is probably his biggest fear.
Prejudices: Steven cannot stomach Romulans or the Borg. The Romulans, because he feels they've betrayed the Federation one time too many. He doesn't trust them farther than he can throw them, "and that goes for the so-called "Democratic Republic" as well!". The Borg, due to incidents his father told him of, which he witnessed during the Borg campaign.... And now, he's developed an even stronger dislike for the "Inquisitors". Exacting revenge upon them for what they did to Bajor has become one of his driving urges.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Proper. You won't see him in jeans and t-shirt, but neither is he running around in galla dress all the time. A nice shirt and black trousers.
Distinguishing Features: Deep eyes that are two toned-outer green rim, inner brown rim. Dimpled chin
Pets: None at the moment...but has a fondness for cats.
Friends: Mid. Alenis Credas, of Bajor, and Mid. Christina Sanders the second and third parts of the trio of Academy friends that made the years at the Academy the best of Steven's life.

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: The destruction of Bajor.
Best Time: His years at the Academy
Most Crucial Experience: When his father took off to fight first the Borg, then the Romulans. Though Capt. Fischer survived unscathed, this called upon something in Steven's blood that he just could not ignore.

And now, he already now realizes that there is a "Before and after Bajor", that the destruction of that world has left a indelible mark on him.
Role Model: His father.
