Personal History
Sarah’s family were normal people living on Earth. Neither her mother nor father served in Starfleet. She knew that one of her Great Grand parents had served, but it wasn’t spoken about.
Growing up, she spent her time playing with broken things she found, repairing them by whatever means she could.
When she was old enough, she applied in secret to the Academy, against her parents’ wishes. However she was refused entry. Since without her parents permission, and the fact that she never had a sponsor, she could not attend.
Instead, she found employment in a local tavern where she saved enough to get the basic qualifications she’d need to apply as an enlisted crewman in the fleet.
She could have been assigned to any ship in the fleet, but fate gave her the Sheridan.
During the last mission, an errant string of code from a standard system upgrade resulted in the ships replicator systems creating a random error that resulted in the fatalities of several crewmembers. Sarah was severely injured while her bunkmate was killed when the shower dispatched corrosive fluid instead of water.
Later in the mission, though medically excused from duty, she chose to return to duty do aid the engineering teams keeping the ship going.
