Elas is an inhabited planet in the Tellun system in the Alpha Quadrant, near the Federation-Klingon border.
It is the homeworld of the Elasians, a spacefaring humanoid species.
Prior to first contact in 2268, Federation scientists observed that the Elasians, as well as their planetary neighbors, the people of Troyius.
- The scientists concluded that both planets possessed the ability to destroy each other, and were headed in that direction
- The leaders of both planets therefore arranged a marriage between the rulers of their two respective planetary governments
- While the Elasian woman is violent and disrespectful, attempts to placate her with jewelry and dresses are unsuccessful
Dilithium crystals were abundant in their raw form on the planet, where it was considered to be a rather common stone.
