Personal History

Jon grew up in a normal childhood. His family was larger than most, consisting of his four older brothers, one older sister and two parents. His parents were an odd mixture of traditionalists and modernists. They had replicators in their home, but rarely used them and encourage their children to provide for themselves. They lived in a large house and he shared a room with his youngest older brother who was 4 years older than him. His other brothers were triplets, something very rare in the modern world where births were more controlled. They were exactly one year older than his other brother, to the day. His older sister was 9 years older than him. His sister was off to college when he was young, but his brothers were in the home during his upbringing. His mother was an archeologist who studied artifacts in the lab. His father was a well off business man who was rarely ever home. Due to his parents busy life, the older children were often used as a babysitter for Jon, something they disliked. The siblings came to an agreement early on - so long as Jon didn't get them in trouble, he was free to do whatever he wanted while his parents were gone.

It was this freedom that gave Jon his curiosity and inquisitive mind. He spent most of his childhood playing alone - discovering new things and then figuring out for himself how they worked. He spent a lot of time outside of the house - tromping through the woods in the park behind his house. He grew an appreciate for nature and the animals that lived in it. Instead of fearing creepy crawly creatures as many of his classmates did, he loved watching them live and work - enjoying studying their movements and habits.

Jon's brother and sisters were over-achievers while he was an average student. He could have excelled - if he put his mind to it, but he rarely did. He passed his tests, and showed an aptitude for science, but he also had a problem paying attention to details. He would often get obsessed in whatever he was focused on, forgetting to go to the rest of his classes, forgetting to go home, and often even forgetting to eat.

Jon struggled to make friends throughout his life, finding it easier to spend time among creatures that didn't talk. At home, any input he would give was often overpowered by his siblings rambunctiousness, and since he was pretty average, his news was never deemed quite as worthy as theirs. In class, he never raised his hand to offer input, but if called upon would have the right answer. In group projects, he contributed what was needed, but nothing more. He simply didn't see the point in conversation.

When his classmates began discussing their futures, Jon realized he needed to figure out his own plan. Soon, he got sucked into another project and his mind forgot the realization. This happened multiple times - his teachers and parents felt he was avoiding his future for some reason and even threatened to get him counseling. One day, after a particularly annoying meeting with his guidance counselor and his upset parents who had "better things to do" he walked by a recruitment booth for Star Fleet. He stopped and asked the man questions and finally signed up for the Academy, focusing on Science.

His parents were displeased. They implored him to make a different decision. His mother, seeming to just now realize his interests, pushed him to go to a private school and enter the private research sector. He stuck to his plan though, packing his bags and leaving for the Academy as planned. Here, he earned many red marks for his absent minded behavior - but he earned just as many green marks for his intelligence and dogged determination to get to the bottom of problems. He graduated in the middle of this class and was soon assigned to the USS Avenger.

It was on board this ship that Jon found his "home". He made friends in the scientists he worked with, and through them made friends in departments all over the ship. He met and fell in love with Bolian security officer named Ven. Ven was loud, boisterous, and energetic - not words usually associate with Jon. During their last trip home, Jon and Ven were married under Bolian societal customers. However, before they were able to perform the traditional Federation wedding, they were recalled to the ship. Ven was one of the casualties in the battle that eventually resulted in the Avenger switching universes.
