Personal History

Hannah was born on Starbase Alpha but did not spend much time there as before she was one they moved to Earth, Florida where her father’s family were living. She had a great child hood and was a model little girl. She always passed in school and had many friends, she was completely her mother and father personified. She enjoyed life to the full and by the time she was eight she had been to many colonies on holidays and had enjoyed short school trips on Federation star ships, but at that age a tragic event occurred.

One night whilst she was asleep she heard her mother scream and awoke to hearing pounding footsteps running towards her room on the hard wood flooring, it was her mother and as she went to reach down to Hannah she fell face first, her eyes glassed over to the floor and as her mother fell the shadow of a man was at the door, holding something out. Hannah didn’t scream, in shock as to what had just happened and the man could not kill her and fled the scene.

Hannah, was still in shock and still sat up in bed looking at her mother’s body and that’s where she stayed for the next three hours. Her father came eventually and took her out of the house but the damage had already been done, she became incredibly withdrawn and unemotional, closed off from others except her father who she saw as the hero for rescuing her from hat horror. She became completely distrusting of other people and this led to her father taking three years extended absence from Starfleet to help her. After three years of internal struggle and counselling she finally broke down some of her walls on her return from school one day, running into her fathers arms crying she blamed herself for everything. That she could not have prevented her mother’s death and that could have done something to help, screamed to alert someone or scare off the burglar. Her father reassured her she wasn’t to blame and she accepted it partially knowing full well it was the burglar but the fact she could have done something still remained. She requested her father get transferred to a ship as she wanted to stay as far away from home as possible and she would like to travel the stars. Her father agreed and they ended up on the Gettysburg where she tried to fit in but with her psychological issues she found it hard.

Several months passed by on the Gettysburg without incident until the start of the Romulan war –well restart really- and Hannah as well as all of the other children on the ship were sent off to an alien colony whilst the Gettysburg went on a dangerous assignment.

Not long after this and when Hannah was reunited with her Father the Gettysburg was transported into a dark bleak alternate future. It became necessary for those of a certain age to be combat ready and be ready to use systems aboard the ship should the need arise, however remote the possibility. It was during this time that Hannah was seconded from student to medic and assisted in sickbay and she also underwent advanced combat tactics training in a make shift boot camp in one of the Gettysburg cargo bays. Going through a gruelling training program that she been mislead to believe was a real event taking place. She showed her true colours during this exercise and impressed many aboard the ship with her abilities. However being such a young age and the thought of never getting back home in her mind it took its toll emotionally.

Excerpt of Hannah Eaglestone’s log aboard the Gettyburg during this time: [Cadets log, Stardate 21002.03 Hannah Eaglestone recording “Well to be honest I don’t know what to say. My Dad said I should record this. He said I should at least have one log when we get back considering I am part of the crew and Starfleet would probably want an account from everyone.

“To be honest, to me, it was like any other Gettysburg mission that I know of. The ship got blown to bits, Dad… Sorry Lieutenant Commander Eaglestone and Lieutenant Commander Arking got it fixed, obviously with a lot of other help. The first instance of being blown to bits was going through a spatial anomaly wormhole thing, I’m not a science officer and only listened to other people describe it so can’t get any clearer on that unfortunately. We then found ourselves in another universe with enough casualties to keep all of us busy in sickbay. I think Doctor Macleod was glad to have me there, I picked up a lot of the strain doing basic tasks for the crew, patching up cuts and bruises and such. The amount of people who died was a little horrific and a little hard to deal with but my Dad set a good example for me and helped me stay strong through the whole ordeal.

“We then found our way into another battle with a race called the threeons or something. I don’t know. You can tell how good I am at this, normally I do it with pen and paper in my diary, I’m not so good at verbalising my thoughts.

There was a slight pause in which Hannah could be heard sighing before she continued. “I also took part in a boot camp thing with Lieutenant Schwicker leading us. It was a lot of fun when I got used to the military regime and discovered I am a crack phaser shot, who knew? Well Dad probably did, he’s been drilling all of this military tradition stuff into my head for years and finally it has a use.

“OK, well we lived through that, thank god! And then moved onto a space station of some sort where the Gettysburg was fixed up, from there we moved onto another location and then home and back into battle. This time it was with Romulans, and everyone of course thinking the war was still going on was very confused at what was going on. Especially in sickbay where some sort of telepathic attack was going to take place and we allied with some Romulans… The details are sketchy to me but we survived that again but with more casualties.

“One of which was one of Judith’s children. It upset me quite a bit, I had to take a few minutes to myself and what made it worse was the fact the Father of the children, Charlie, was injured by the telepathic attack. He’s alive fortunately and so is the other of Judith’s twins, a little boy named CJ, he’s so cute.

“Anyway, I think that’s it. I can’t think of anything else to add so… End log”] Several months after this incident, and with Gettysburg returned safe and sound to the present the USS Nova was commissioned and she along with her Father and Arianna and the kids were transferred aboard, This was a special dispensation for Derrick Grant as he felt he could not be without Hannah’s father’s contributions to ship and crew and they came as a package deal, Something Hannah’s father had explained to Grant when he took over command of the Gettysburg from Captain Torgh, even if the ship was a battleship.

A severe “emotional” episode not long after this caused the ship’s counsellor to insist Hannah was transferred to a specialist psychiatric institution. Her father, although pained to do so, left Arianna Lacey and her children on board the Gettysburg and left to be his Daughter on Earth. Staying in the guardian’s wing of the psychological unit, Chris spent as much time with his daughter as possible and helped her through her illness.

A short while after all of this Hannah began to get back into her studies once again, and with her Father’s help managed to catch up with the studies she had missed and aced her high school work and all of her extra credit assignments. With not much to distract her it was easy going. From there to application to Starfleet and acceptance into the academy was a sure thing. She decided engineering should be her field of specialisation. Taking over her Father’s footsteps she felt guilty enough, as it was to pull him into ground based or station based work. When speaking to him about it he told her to take over if she wanted to. Although set as more of a challenge than a career choice, Hannah accepted and enrolled with the Corps Of Engineers.

At first Hannah struggled in the academy. Being away from her Father for the first time for a very prolonged period of time. She got home sick quite often and found it hard to concentrate although scrapping through her first exams Hannah was on the verge of quitting the academy until she met up with Emily King, another student at the academy. The two found they had much in common and brief conversations turned into grabbing lunch together, hanging out and eventually them becoming roommates in the academy dorms. Her best friend, Hannah has confided in Emily all of her past, her wants her fears and it is her hope that, even if they are separated upon graduation, they can remain best friends.

Personality Profile

Academy Minor(s): Non Starfleet system specialisation, Transwarp theory and implementation, Advanced gravitonic distortion fields; theory and practice.
Hobbies and Pastimes: Painting and drawing. She also loves paint balling and tennis
Short-Term Goals: To survive on her own, having always had her Father around at a moments notice, although a positive influence, has taken away some of Hannah’s independence, something she strives to regain.
Long-Term Goals: None specific, just to see where the future takes her
Personality: Hannah has a fun personality but is quite happy being quiet and sat in the corner if there is nothing to be said or done. She is friendly however and strives to make friends and connections where she can although making friends higher up in the ranks of Starfleet will prove difficult for her. Superiors should always be the bad guys to prevent complacency within the ranks.
Sense of Humor: : Dark, but enjoys a friendly banter
Phobias: Her nightmares becoming reality
Likes: Music (Old Earth in particular), Make-up, clothes and her room.
Dislikes: Fickleness and unnecessary attention to detail, Fish, of any kind. The smell and taste makes her feel nauseous.
Pet Peeves or Gripes: Growing up as a Starfleet brat to one of the most professional Officers she has encountered, like her father she has a strict sense of discipline and respect for the chain of command
Bad Habits or Vices: Suffering from OCD everything has to be perfect for Hannah to feel relaxed. Many have quipped she would have been better off joining the MACO’s rather than Starfleet.
Achievements: Gaining control of her psychological condition and surviving to this point to make her father a proud man.
Disappointments: Her severe emotional episode will always disappoint her. However it is what powers her to do the best she can in all she does.
Illnesses: Suffers from extreme nightmares and is only capable of feeling fear whilst asleep, she is also very withdrawn from the real world finding it hard to be happy and has a history of severe depression, she has a dark sense of humour and quick wit that seems to compensate and give off the impression she is ok. She also suffers from moderate OCD and finds it irritating and uncomfortable when things are not to her liking. She undergoes regular counselling sessions to ensure this does not become a problem in her work and has been ruled fit for active service after many years of counselling.
Strengths: Her professionalism and knowledge
Weaknesses: Her inability to perceive genuine required fear from a dangerous situation can make Hannah reckless at times.
Fears: To lose her father
Prejudices: Criminals, in all shapes and forms.
Off Duty Clothing Tastes: Usually a pair of jeans and a figure hugging stretchy top
Distinguishing Features: None
Friends: Estella Maria Losada (deceased)

Personal Paradigm Shifts

Most Painful Experience: Watching her mother die
Best Time: Advanced combat training aboard the Nova, although a little traumatising for a fifteen year old it has helped shape her into the young woman she is today.
Most Crucial Experience: Being thrown forward in time aboard the the Nova and the events that followed.
Role Model: Her Father
