Duotronics was a form of 23rd century computer technology, designed by the Federation Doctor Richard Daystrom in 2243. It succeeded circuitry that used components such as resistors and transistors.

The duotronic computer was the primary computing platform for all Star Fleet vessels for eighty years. It was revolutionary in its time, increasing a starship computer’s power and speed.
Elements of this technology were also used in sensor technology.

Daystrom's achievements with this system ultimately earned him the Nobel and Zee-Magnees Prizes.

In 2268, Daystrom developed a new multitronic system, which was supposed to replace the duotronic system. However, tests for the new unit failed, and the duotronic system remained.

Duotronics were eventually replaced in 2329 by isolinear circuitry.

Other cultures still utilized duotronic-based technology during the 2370s. A species encountered by the USS Voyager in the Delta Quadrant used such technology.
