Personal History

Early Life

Addi was born on Vulcan but at the age of 3, she was taken by her mother to return to Earth. Her parents disagreed on the best way to raise a Human child, and her mother, annoyed with her husband’s obsession with Vulcan culture, filed for divorce the day she left for Earth. Addi would have no contact with her father until her late teens.

Addi was raised in southern California, where her mother’s research was based. She proved to be a very intelligent and curious child, but failed to develop any interest in science, like her mother had hoped. She made good grades, but preferred surfing and social activities to books.

During her mid-teenage years, she developed a curiosity about her father and Vulcan, causing her to beg to be allowed to spend a summer with him. It was a mixed experience; she learned a great deal about the culture but failed to learn anything about her father. He was detached and elusive, and upon leaving, she felt more of a connection to his Vulcan colleagues than him.

Academy Years

Once she had graduated from secondary school, the pressure to focus on the sciences reemerged and she found herself being pushed quite forcefully towards an academic career, like her mother’s. To temporarily stave off the pressure, she applied to Starfleet Academy with no expectations of being accepted. So it was with much surprise and her mother’s annoyance that she was accepted.

Her initial major was forensic sciences to appease her mother, but she quickly discovered that her interest was more in how the evidence was acquired and used than how it was handled. She quickly switched her major to criminal investigations in the security division.

Starbase Alpha: CID

She graduated high in her class and was assigned to CID on Starbase Alpha. She was well liked and made a name for herself as a dependable and capable investigator, who could handle complex and long investigations. She was regularly brought into the Academy to lecture on developing effective investigations, and near the end of her time on Alpha, she’d earned an investigative team of her own.

While on Alpha, she met and married Andrew Donaghue, an engineer assigned to R&D on Alpha. They were happily married for three years before his death during the last Romulan war.

Wartime Assignments

Prior to Andrew’s death during the war, her career path changed. Starfleet ran low on combat capable officers, and CID became a low priority. Because of this, Addi was assigned to a rapid deployment team, given combat training, and expected to fight like a soldier.

While she proved to be a very sharp and capable soldier, receiving promotions and commendations for her actions, she doesn’t consider herself a soldier. While she works hard to maintain her combat skills, she would prefer to never have to use them again.

Patrolling the Neutral Zone

After the war, she was unable to return to Starbase Alpha and her previous assignment. Instead, she was assigned to a police patrol along the Neutral Zone, where she served as FO/COS on a tiny police frigate. For the most part, their encounters were limited to smugglers and pirates, although there were a few more noteworthy encounters.

Finally, after two years of trying, Addi was able to obtain a senior investigator position in the CID unit on Delta. However, after only three weeks there, she was abruptly reassigned to the USS Pegasus to fill their open COS position. It was suppose to be a temporary position until either her predecessor returned or a replacement could be found.

However, it turned out to be even more temporary than she’d expected. Within weeks of being assigned, the Pegasus was reassigned to a special mission, which involved reassigning most of the crew. Rumor had it that it was a suicide mission of some kind, but regardless, it involved Addi being placed back in CID on Delta.

Unfortunately, that didn’t last very long as less than a month later, she was assigned to CID on Starbase Bravo. While she was rather unhappy with the sudden move, she was happy to still be in CID and was more than a little curious about the reasoning behind the move. It turned out the reasoning was an undercover assignment that required her to take over the position of Chief of Security on the USS Ticonderoga to investigate a potential security leak.
