In spacecraft classification, Destroyers are a type of starship that is small to medium size ship, designed primarily or exclusively for combat.
Though larger than Frigates, Destroyers are among the smallest warships employed by most fleets and performed such duties as picketing, escorting, reconnaissance, commerce protection, and commerce raiding. Tasked with similar duties to their larger counterpart, the Light Cruiser, Destroyers nonetheless carried smaller crews and weaker armaments.
