Deep Space 3 is a Federation deep-space station, located near a black cluster in the Alpha Quadrant.
It was constructed near the border of the Klingon Empire in order for the Federation to keep an eye on the Breen, and other species in Breen space.
In 2370, the USS Hera, commanded by Captain Silva LaForge, left this space station on a courier mission, and disappeared shortly thereafter.
In 2381, Deep Space 3 was the location of a field office of the Starfleet Corps of Engineers.
